While not accusing the entire civil service, Asif alleged that "25 to 30 per cent" of the bureaucracy was corrupt. "I will personally demand my own government to legislate on bureaucracy," he vowed.
He urged that bureaucrats be legally bound to declare their assets annually, arguing that "no other sector has as much corruption as the bureaucracy."
Pointing to "glaring disparity" in dual nationality rules, Asif noted, "No politician, judge or army officer in Pakistan can hold dual nationality only bureaucrats can. This privilege must end."
He also demanded an end to the "endless allotment of plots" to bureaucrats, saying such perks should not be treated as an entitlement.
The minister further said that he had not expected his earlier statement about some bureaucrats buying property in Portugal to cause such an uproar. He revealed that he was now conducting an inquiry and intended to expose those involved.

ISLAMABAD: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday took notice of the statement made by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, in which, he mentioned Pakistani bureaucrats are buying properties in Portugal. The meeting of the committee was held under the chairmanship of Junaid Akbar, where important government matters were considered. The committee's chairman said that details would be requested regarding which bureaucrats have acquired plots there. Expert rubbishes India's 'comical' plane downing claim

In a statement issued on Sunday, the expert said everything should be based on evidence but India has never produced any evidence to prove that it had shot down Pakistani fighter jets even more than three months after conflict that started on May 7 and concluded on May 10. "The Indian side has not presented any evidence, such as photos of the wreckage of the fighter jets, radar monitoring data, etc, while the Pakistani side had previously presented a large amount of relevant evidence of shooting down the Indian fighter jets. "Therefore, the remarks by Indian Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh are comical, implausible and unconvincing. We may call it self-amusement," he said. In contrast, Prof Cheng said, the Pakistan side immediately provided a detailed technical report to international media after the clash ended.
