Legendary Rocker and Toby Keith's Widow Honor Late Singer With 'Beautiful' Gesture
Country star died in February 2024 at the age of 64 after a battle with cancer. A few weeks ago, a giant party that included a golf outing and a rockin' performance was held in his honor.
Sammy Hagar, the legendary Van Halen frontman, and Keith's widow, Tricia Lucus Covel (Covel was Keith's given surname), hosted the 21st annual Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic in Norman, Oklahoma. Keith was obviously the host himself prior to his death, so this marks the second year they held the event without Keith.
In 2024, they held a silent auction full of country stars' donated memorabilia in order to benefit the Toby Keith Foundation OK Kids Korral — Keith was from Oklahoma and an avid Sooners fan.For 2025, Hagar both hosted and performed, and Keith's official Instagram announced that they raised over $1.4 million for the Kids Korral this year.
"Toby would be proud!" reads the Instagram post.
In the comments, one fan wrote, "So beautiful… I miss him so much, especially when something patriotic comes up. I'm going, what would Toby do about this? He was awesome and I really miss him."
Another fan added, "So proud of Toby's widow and her ability to carry on with her hubby's dream!! Kudos to Tricia!"
"This is so awesome!!! Toby would be so proud!!!!" wrote a third fan.Keith and Hagar were known friends, dating back to Keith being one of the stars who attended and performed at Hagar's 60th birthday bash back in 2007 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Keith was survived by his wife, Tricia, of 40 years, and their three children — daughter Shelley, 45, whom Keith adopted when he married Tricia, daughter Krystal, 39, who is a fellow country artist, and son Stelen, 28. He also had two grandchildren, Krystal's children Kirby and Hensley.

Country singer Dallas Smith winks at Trump's annexation threats with 51-date tour
TORONTO — Country singer Dallas Smith isn't looking to stir the political pot, but he admits it's no coincidence that his upcoming Canadian concert tour is booked for 51 dates. In a wink to Donald Trump's threats of making Canada the 51st state, the British Columbia-born country singer and frontman of rock band Default says he's investing in his homeland with an acoustic tour that rolls through 51 communities starting this fall. "We were close to that number and then we said let's just make that happen," he said with a laugh in a recent interview. 'It was important for me to come, especially at this time, (with) a lot of Canadian pride. I want to get out there, really go hard, and visit all these places that I haven't been and see the country." The Dallas Smith & His Band (Unplugged) tour will focus on places he's never toured before and is mostly booked in small theatre venues of several hundred to a thousand seats. He starts in Fort St. John, B.C. on Oct. 3 and continues to less-travelled communities such as Kitimat, B.C., Enoch, Alta. and Wingham, Ont. By the time it's over, Smith will have wound through nine of the 10 provinces — skipping Newfoundland and Labrador and the territories — reaching his final stop in Belleville, Ont. on Dec. 14. Tickets go on sale Wednesday at 10 a.m. Sporting a red-brimmed maple leaf baseball cap emblazoned with "Canada," Smith explained the reasons behind making Canada his main focus for the rest of the year. "There is a lot going on in the U.S. that goes against my upbringing and what I think is right," he said in a video chat from Nashville, where he was meeting with his management. "So why not double down and spend the time in a place that I really want to enjoy and be around my people?" Few Canadian musicians take on the challenge of playing so many small markets. Life on the road can be mighty expensive once accounting for all the people required to carry a tour. With his band Default, Smith is more familiar with big venues, music festivals and major events, such as the Calgary Stampede, where he's roared through hits like "Wasting My Time" and "Deny." He intends to revisit some of those older songs on this tour with stripped-back versions, while sharing stories of his upbringing, music career and newer solo tracks, including "How Do You Miss Me" and "Drop." The concept is inspired by the "MTV Unplugged" sessions of the 1990s made famous by Nirvana and Alice In Chains. Smith said he's been throwing around the idea of exploring the 'nooks and crannies' of Canada since before the COVID-19 pandemic, but the plan never took shape. More recently, alongside his management team, he mapped out a budget to make it happen, shedding the lavish perks and complex lighting rigs for something more modest — a single bus, trailer, full band and most of his regular crew. Together they'll work on a tight schedule that, at times, sees them booked for six consecutive nights in six different cities before they have a break. To make it happen, their stage setup will be minimal. "We're gonna dial back and allow the beauty of these venues to kind of lead the way and be the backdrop," he added. Smith's approach might seem counter to the music industry trend of making shows bigger and more social media friendly — think towering digital screens and gimmicky celebrity appearances. But he said he's often rejected those pressures, and with this tour, he focused on making tickets affordable, within the $60 to $100 range, without impacting the live performance. "I did not want to sacrifice how these songs would be played," Smith said. "I love the guys in my band; they're like brothers to me. Playing these songs together, and paying them a full wage where they feel valued ... and balancing that with ticket price, it's a little tricky, but we landed in a good spot where everybody feels really happy." HARDY, Cody Johnson to headline P.E.I. country music festival next summer
Country artists HARDY, Tucker Wetmore and Cody Johnson will headline the 2026 edition of the Cavendish Beach Music Festival in central P.E.I.., Whitecap Entertainment announced Tuesday. HARDY, a two-time Country Music Association Award winner, will open the festival on Thursday, July 9. Known for songs such as Truck Bed and Wait in the Truck, he has amassed more than six billion streams across various platforms, organizers said. This will be his first performance on P.E.I. Wetmore, who had a breakout year in 2024 with hits including Wine Into Whisky and Wind Up Missin' You, will take the main stage on Friday, July 10. This will also be his first appearance at the festival. Johnson, a three-time Country Music Association Award winner, will be closing the event on Saturday, July 11. The Texas-born singer is known for chart-topping tracks such as 'Til You Can't and The Painter, and has earned more than seven billion global streams in his career. The performers add to a star-studded list of past CBMF headliners. The festival has in the past hosted Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Chris Stapleton, Kenny Chesney, Blake Shelton, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, and most recently, Shania Twain. For the past several weeks, both Ozzy Osbourne and his band Black Sabbath have appeared in lofty positions on the charts in the United Kingdom, as listeners in the late rocker's home country mourn his passing and honor his legacy by streaming and buying his biggest hits. As is always the case when such a surge occurs for a sad reason, those tunes have started to decline, especially on the country's rundown of the top rock and metal tracks. That's the tally where Osbourne and Black Sabbath fully displayed their immense popularity, and this frame, as some of Osbourne's most popular tunes and a handful of Black Sabbath cuts fall, several other classics by other superstar acts are able to return to the highest tier. Metallica, Queen and Evanescence Return Four songs return to the top 10 on the Official Rock and Metal Singles chart this week. All of them regularly spend time within that region, but they were recently pushed out as Osbourne and Black Sabbath surged. 'Can't Stop' by Red Hot Chili Peppers leaps highest, jumping from No. 12 to No. 7. That tune is followed by a trio of comebacks, including 'Don't Stop Me Now' by Queen (No. 8), 'Enter Sandman' by Metallica (No. 9), and 'Bring Me to Life' by Evanescence (No. 10).
