What you need is another screen, and here's an excellent one with $50 off
We spend our lives looking at multiple screens, whether it's having five external monitors attached to a Mac Studio or just scrolling on our phones while watching TV with half an eye. Adding another screen is something tech manufacturers would very much like us to do, though it can be hard to see where one could be fitted in.
- Get the Samsung Galaxy S10 FE + for $659 $599 at Best Buy
Enter the tablet. These screens with brains are probably the least essential of all the portable techno-wizardry we commonly use, as they don't have the general functionality of laptops or the very specific functionality of phones, but instead sit somewhere in the middle as a large phone that can't make calls or a highly restricted laptop when paired with a keyboard.
They do have their uses, however, as Creative Bloq's list of the best tablets for drawing and note-taking shows.
Samsung's Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ has been one of my favourites out of those I've used recently. It has a big screen and a bundled stylus, and if you head over to Best Buy you can get $50 off both the 128GB and 256GB versions of the big 13.1in model.
It's the size of the screen that sets this tablet apart. Those with smaller displays might be more portable, but can feel like little more than a large phone. The 13in panel makes it feel more like a sketchpad, or even a printed magazine (albeit heavier, unless you're into some serious paper stock and page counts). This makes them a joy to read from, with digital publication pages filling the screen at a size that makes them legible, rather than being something you'll need to zoom into.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ also comes with a stylus in the box, which instantly elevates it above tablets that don't, or offer them as an optional extra. A stylus is an essential tool for a creative, as being able to draw or write naturally, just as you would on a sheet of paper, only with the ability to quickly change line thicknesses and erase your mistakes. Being able to instantly sync your sketches into Photoshop or another image-editing app, or OCR your notes into editable text, are essential features too. Of course there are keyboards available to help manipulate that text later, turning the tablet into a pseudo-laptop with office apps and cloud storage.
Being an Android tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 FE+ has access to the full Google Play store, as well as the software giant's AI offerings, so it's a handy general-purpose device that you can use for watching movies or reading once you're done sketching. So if you're looking for another screen to add to your collection, and the idea of digital art appeals, it's a tablet well worth looking at.

Vulcan Elements signs rare earths supply deal with ReElement Technologies
(Reuters) -Vulcan Elements, a North Carolina-based rare earth magnet manufacturer, has agreed to buy a supply of the critical minerals from ReElement Technologies that will be sourced outside of China. The companies, both of which are privately held, declined to give precise financial terms but said that the price is "significantly below" the floor of $110 per kilogram that the U.S. Department of Defense guaranteed to MP Materials last month for the two most popular rare earths. The contract was signed in mid-July, Vulcan said. Rare earth oxides are used to make metal that can then be turned into magnets for use in fighter jets, radar and other military applications, as well as consumer electronics. "This pricing will enable Vulcan to be competitive in global markets," Vulcan CEO John Maslin told Reuters. "We wanted to make sure the unit economics made sense." Indiana-based ReElement, which licenses its technology from Purdue University, will supply Vulcan with "thousands of metric tons" of rare earth oxides annually for five years beginning in 2026 from outdated electronics or from mine sites, said CEO Mark Jensen. ReElement says it can supply the rare earths to Vulcan below $110 per kilogram because of its use of a processing technique known as chromatography, which is different than the industry-standard solvent extraction used by many of its peers. "We are laser focused on cost," Jensen told Reuters. "We will see where the market goes, but right now we're focused more on the market price versus that price floor." Reuters was first to report last month that the Trump administration is considering extending that price floor to other firms, news that was relayed in a close-door Washington meeting attended by Vulcan, ReElement and others.

(Gavin Haag Photo) Seattle-based Kevala, a startup that helps healthcare facilities find and manage workers, has been acquired by Residex, a Denver company that also uses AI to manage records and more for senior living communities. Terms of the deal were not shared in a news release on Monday. Kevala was spun out of Seattle's Pioneer Square Labs in 2020. The company raisied $4 million in January 2021 and another $12.1 million in February 2022. Co-founder and CEO Todd Owens previously led staffing company TalentWise, which was acquired by Sterling Talent Solutions; was CEO at Appuri (acquired by DocuSign); and was CEO at Azuqua (acquired by Okta). According to Residex, the acquisition will strengthen the company's position in the senior care technology market by adding staffing optimization to platform. Residex uses AI to help manage resident health records, medication administration, care planning, assessments, and clinical documentation. Kevala's software, called Quin, enables healthcare facilities to schedule workers, organize the labor pool and track caregiver credentials. 'This acquisition validates our vision of using AI to solve the industry's most pressing operational challenge of ensuring topline workforce management,' Owens said in a statement. By combining Quin's workforce intelligence with Residex's clinical expertise, we're creating a powerful ecosystem that ultimately enhances the quality of life for residents.' As of April of this year, Kevala employed 28 people and had raised $21 million. Related:

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 plummets to new record-low price, saving you $300!
Ryan Haines / Android Authority OK, now we are talking! We've seen some great Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 offers, including storage upgrades and free gift cards, but this is the first time we've seen an actual discount on the device, and it's a pretty good one! You can take the Galaxy Z Fold 7 home at a $300 discount. Buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 for just $1,699.99 ($300 off) This offer is available from Amazon as a 'limited time deal.' The discount applies to all color versions available from Amazon, including Jet Black, Blue Shadow, and Silver Shadow. If you prefer, you can also get the same deal from Samsung's official website. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Thin, light, high-powered, and it folds! The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 offers an 8-inch OLED screen, a 200MP camera, the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, and a 4,400mAh battery. The Galaxy AI experience is baked in, offering tools across the camera, Circle to Search, and much more. Best of all, Samsung continues to evolve its foldable hinge assembly, promising reduced visibility of the crease. See price at Amazon Save $300.00 Limited Time Deal! Many would argue this is the best foldable smartphone out there, at least in the mainstream market. It's also very new, launched only last month, in July. Given its prestige and recent release, it's shocking to see it discounted by $300. Don't get me wrong, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 isn't cheap, even at the discounted $1,699.99 price point. That said, there really isn't much competition in the world of foldable phones (specifically referring to foldout ones). If you're willing to pay the big bucks, you're getting an outstanding device. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is no slouch. The overall experience will be nothing short of premium. The performance is outstanding, thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and 12GB of RAM. This means it will be as powerful as the best Android phones around right now. Ryan Haines / Android Authority Of course, the internal screen is a big part of the experience. It has a large 8.0-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X panel. It will look gorgeous, and the resolution is sharp at 2,184 x 1,968. Additionally, it has that smooth 120Hz refresh rate we all want these days. If that huge display is too much for quick tasks or checking notifications, there's also the external 6.5-inch external screen. The design is worthy of a Samsung high-end device, of course. This has an aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 in the back, and Gorilla Glass Victus Ceramic 2 in the front. It comes with an IP48 rating for water and dust resistance. This may not sound like much these days, but it is actually really good in the world of foldable phones. Ryan Haines / Android Authority Also, the battery is a bit small at 4,400mAh, which is another area where foldable phones usually suffer. There is nothing surprising here. All things considered, this is an impressive deal for anyone looking to get a high-end foldable phone. Catch this deal while you can! Remember, this is a new, high-end, very popular device. That's usually a combination for short-lived deals, and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has never been cheaper than today. Follow
