MUTA-AUT protest outside RJD office demanding CAS salary benefits
As part of the State-wide protest, the protesters waited the whole day outside the RJD office.
A.T. Senthamarai Kannan, General Secretary, MUTA, said that their key demand was to immediately sanction the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) benefit along with arrears.
As per the Government Order of Higher Education Department issued in 2021, the CAS benefits should have reached all eligible lecturers. But due to the confusion in the G.O., it was not properly implemented, he added.
When their counterparts in the government colleges have received all benefits including their salaries, only aided-college teachers were devoid of the benefits, he noted.
'It has been more than four years now since the orders were issued, a section of us is left out in receiving any benefits. But almost all staff in northern and western districts have already received their benefits,' he said.
As the State-wide full-day demonstration outside RJD offices yielded no results, he said their next action would be to march towards the Directorate of Collegiate Education in Chennai on August 8.
'We are left to see if at least the mass appeal with the shake the consciousness of the government,' he noted.

EPIC row: Police complaint filed against Tejashwi Yadav; Giriraj Singh slams RJD leader, Rahul Gandhi
Amid a row over the new draft voter list in Bihar, a complaint has been filed against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, in Patna, alleging that he holds two Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPICs). The complaint was filed by a lawyer, Rajiv Ranjan, who has requested appropriate legal action against Tejashwi. Last week, Tejashwi Yadav alleged that his EPIC (Electors' Photo Identity Card) number had been 'changed'. He had also raised concerns over his name missing from the electoral roll, questioning how he would contest the upcoming elections. Following this, the Electoral Registration Officer in Patna on Sunday asked Tejashwi Yadav to provide the details of the EPIC card he mentioned during his press conference, so that the matter can be thoroughly investigated. Meanwhile, Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh lashed out at both the former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for questioning the Election Commission of India amid the ongoing Special Intensive Revision exercise in Bihar ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, accusing them of spreading 'lies and confusion'. The Election Commission, a constitutional body, will pursue legal action against comments made by Tejashwi Yadav, said Giriraj Singh. 'Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav only lie and spread confusion. While lying about SIR (Special Intensive Revision), he lied about his own voter ID. This (ECI) is a Constitutional institution, but they did not spare this either; they criticised it. Someone who considers himself a future CM - if Tejashwi Yadav speaks such petty lies and spreads confusion, then that institution will definitely take the legal route,' the minister said. Janata Dal United (JDU) also slammed the RJD leader over his allegations against the Election Commission and said that the opposition's narrative has been 'destroyed'. 'Tejashwi Yadav's theft has been caught. Sometimes he cries about names being removed from the voter list, and sometimes he spreads lies about the EPIC number. The truth is that now the narrative of Tejashwi and the entire opposition has been completely destroyed,' the party said in a post in Hindi on the social media platform X.

Tejashwi's dual voter ID row: Lawyer files complaint against RJD leader; move after EC asked him to hand over EPIC card
NEW DELHI: A police complaint was filed against RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday over his two EPICs matter. The complaint was filed by an advocate, Rajiv Ranjan, in Patna's Digha Police Station. No case has been registered yet. This comes after the Election Commission of India issued a notice to Yadav after it was found that he allegedly had two different EPIC numbers. "Upon verification, it was found that your name is recorded at serial number 416 of polling station no. 124 (located in the library building of Bihar Engineering University), and the EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) number is RAB0456228," ECI said. "However, as per your statement in the press conference, you referred to your EPIC number as RAB2916120. A preliminary investigation revealed that EPIC number RAB2916120 does not officially exist," it added. Earlier, Yadav had alleged that his EPIC number was changed and his name was missing from Bihar's draft electoral rolls. However, the Election Commission rejected the claim, stating that he had used the same EPIC number (RAB0456228) in his 2020 nomination affidavit and that his name appears in the draft list at serial number 416.
