NBA: Tim Hardaway Jr. reaches deal with Nuggets, reports say
Per The Athletic, the deal is for the veteran minimum.
Hardaway, 33, was acquired last summer by the Detroit Pistons along with three draft picks from the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Quentin Grimes.
The shooting guard went on to become a key contributor in Detroit's resurgence in 2024-25 that resulted in the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, where the Pistons lost to the New York Knicks in the first round.
Starting and appearing in 77 regular-season games for the Pistons, Hardaway averaged 11.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists while shooting 36.8 percent from 3-point range.
Denver has enjoyed an impressive haul in the early going of free agency, adding Jonas Valanciunas and Cameron Johnson via trade and inking returnee Bruce Brown Jr. in the period's first few days. --Field Level Media/ Reuters

The deal reportedly includes a player option for 2029-30 and a trade kicker, making Bridges, 28, ineligible to be traded for six months after the signing extension. His previous deal was set to expire following the 2025-26 season. The new contract is reportedly a slight discount from his potential max extension of $156 million. By agreeing to a reduced salary, though, the Knicks gain more flexibility to continue building out the roster and potentially make another deep playoff run. New York acquired Bridges last summer as part of a massive trade that included sending four unprotected first-round picks and one protected first-rounder to the Brooklyn Nets. In 82 regular-season games last season for the Knicks, all starts, Bridges averaged 17.6 points on 50 percent shooting from the floor, including a 35.4 percent clip from 3-point range. During the playoffs, Bridges contributed 15.6 points on 45.6 percent shooting as well as 1.7 steals per game. Report: Deal being finalized to return Damian Lillard to Trail Blazers
Nine-time All-Star Damian Lillard is finalizing a three-year, $42 million contract to return to the Portland Trail Blazers, ESPN reported on Thursday. Per ESPN, Lillard now will receive a salary of $70 million between his existing deal with the Milwaukee Bucks and his new contract with the Trail Blazers. He also will have a player-option in 2027 and a no-trade clause in a deal that returns Lillard to the franchise with which he spent his first 11 NBA seasons. Lillard, who turned 35 on Tuesday, saw his season come to an abrupt end on April 27 after an excruciating torn left Achilles tendon knocked him out of the rest of the playoffs. He is expected to miss the 2025-26 season. Lillard was hurt in the first quarter of the Bucks' 129-103 loss to the Indiana Pacers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference first-round series in just his third game back after dealing with a blood clot in his right calf. He missed the final 14 games of the regular season and the first contest of the playoff series against the Pacers. Lillard requested a trade out of Portland in the summer of 20xx and the team obliged. The Trail Blazers were entering a transition into a rebuild and Lillard wanted to go to a team in which he could compete for a championship. Lillard averaged 24.9 points, 7.1 assists and 4.7 rebounds in 58 regular-season games during his second season with the Bucks. He was waived by Milwaukee on July 7. Lillard owns career averages of 25.1 points, 6.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 900 regular-season contests. NBA: Knicks make it official, hire Mike Brown as head coach
The New York Knicks hired two-time NBA Coach of the Year Mike Brown as their new head coach on Monday. Brown, 55, was fired by the Sacramento Kings last December after two-plus seasons. He previously coached the Cleveland Cavaliers (2005-10) and Los Angeles Lakers (2011-12) and has a career record of 454-304. "After a thorough and extensive search process, we are pleased to announce Mike Brown as the head coach of the New York Knicks," Knicks president Leon Rose said in a statement. "Mike has coached on the biggest stages in our sport and brings championship pedigree to our organization." Brown replaces Tom Thibodeau, who was fired a month ago after leading the Knicks to the Eastern Conference finals for the first time in 25 years. "(Brown's) experience leading the bench during the NBA Finals, winning four titles as an assistant coach, and his ability to grow and develop players will all help us as we aim to bring a championship to New York for our fans," Rose added. The Knicks reportedly conducted a second interview with Brown last Tuesday and also reportedly interviewed former Charlotte Hornets head coach James Borrego, former Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins and Minnesota Timberwolves assistant coach Micah Nori. The Knicks cast a wide net to replace Thibodeau. They attempted to interview current head coaches -- including Jason Kidd of the Dallas Mavericks, Chris Finch of the Timberwolves and Ime Udoka of the Houston Rockets -- but were denied permission by those teams. They also interviewed South Carolina championship-winning women's basketball coach Dawn Staley for the opening. Brown has won four NBA championships as an assistant coach with the San Antonio Spurs (2003) and the Golden State Warriors (2017, 2018 and 2022).
