Liverpool get their ANSWER from Kevin De Bruyne over stunning free transfer

Yahoo11-05-2025
Manchester City have taken the controversial decision to END Kevin De Bruyne's successful time at the club this summer.
Over the course of the last decade, De Bruyne has established himself as perhaps the greatest player in the club's history. The Belgian has played over 400 matches for the Cityzens, winning SIX Premier League titles as well as the Champions League.

He is a two-time Premier League Player of the Year and has won the Players' Player of the Year award twice for good measure.
But the 33-year-old has now been told by Pep Guardiola that he will not be allowed to continue his career at the Etihad beyond the expiry of his current contract.
It's a shocking decision, with De Bruyne still operating at the highest level.
Accordingly, De Bruyne has been linked with several clubs ahead of next season. Saudi clubs have long been interested in the playmaker - and there is the possibility he moves to MLS too.
Speculation has also linked De Bruyne to Napoli, where compatriots like Dries Mertens and Romelu Lukaku have shone in recent times.
Liverpool linked with De Bruyne
Liverpool have emerged as shock contenders for his signature when his contract runs out in summer 2025. Given his age and wage, it would likely be a marriage of convenience for a matter of a season or two.

Some outlets have gone as far as to suggest an offer has ALREADY been made to De Bruyne from Anfield but those rumours have been quashed by Fabrizio Romano and others.
In fact, it's been reported that Liverpool's efforts to land De Bruyne are not as far along as once believed. And now we appear to have an answer from De Bruyne himself.
KDB 'not keen' on other Premier League clubs
Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported on the Napoli transfer story and in a follow-up on X, he referenced the Liverpool reports.
Answering a fan who asked: 'What about the Liverpool links?' Tavolieri replied: 'Has been proposed by his Agency but KDB not keen on joining another club in PL as of now.'

So we now know two things. One is that his representatives - listed as Roc Nation - have proposed Liverpool as a destination. The other is that De Bruyne CURRENTLY does not want to play for a different Premier League club.

Oliver Glasner hints at Marc Guehi exit as Crystal Palace chairman explains 'difficult situation'

Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner jokingly claimed he may have to come out of retirement to play center-back if Marc Guehi leaves the club this summer. Guehi, 25, has been heavily linked with a summer transfer, and Liverpool and Newcastle have made inquiries for the England defender. Palace has demanded $60 million for Guehi, but Liverpool values the player closer to $47 million as he's entered the final 12 months of his contract. Palace secured a crucial 1-0 win over Fredrikstad FK on Thursday as the Premier League club attempts to qualify for the UEFA Conference League. Palace is on the verge of losing star midfielder Eberechi Eze to Arsenal, and Glasner hinted that Guehi could also be sold before the transfer deadline. Eze is close to joining Arsenal in a deal worth $90 million, but Glasner awkwardly joked that Guehi could be the next player to leave. "If Marc [Guehi] leaves, maybe I will try my boots because I was a centre-back," Glasner said. "We have to act. It's Crystal Palace's future and we need to add numbers." Glasner has made it clear that he wants to improve the squad, but the club has only made two signings this summer. Ajax defender Borna Sosa was acquired in a deal worth $2.6 million, and Palace also signed goalkeeper Walter Benitez on a free transfer from PSV. Palace has retained its star players until now, as Eze is expected to join Arsenal this week. Palace chairman Steve Parish suggested that Guehi could be the next marquee player to leave the club and called it a "difficult situation" due to spending rules. "If Marc Guehi wants to sign a new contract… then he can stay! It's a difficult situation," Parish told Channel 5. "Everyone has to sell players to comply with the rules. That's a situation that we will have to look at in the next days." Palace risks losing Guehi on a free transfer next summer, meaning the club could be forced to cash in on the defender. However, Glasner has been keen to build on last season's success and has shown signs of displeasure with the club hierarchy. It's been a frustrating summer for Palace off the field after a dream end to last season, which saw them beat Manchester City to win the FA Cup for the first time. In winning the competition, Palace should have qualified for the UEFA Europa League, but the club was penalized. As shareholders also owned the French club Lyon, which qualified for the Europa League, UEFA demoted Palace to the Conference League. Palace will still need a broad squad to facilitate domestic and European games, but has neglected business until later in the window. Glasner shared his frustrations with the lack of urgency. With Eze set to leave the club, Palace has 10 days to find a replacement. "We need to add, not numbers; it's easy to add 10 numbers," Glasner said. "We need the right players. It's not surprising for anyone that Ebs [Eze] left, honestly, it's not surprising. Because five days earlier, we couldn't have done anything if he leaves. "We knew that the chances were very high that this will happen and honestly, again, I say it like it is, we missed (the chance) to replace him early enough, that's completely our fault and nobody else's fault."

Eberechi Eze to miss Crystal Palace's European debut as Arsenal book medical

Eberechi Eze will not play Crystal Palace's Conference League play-off against Fredrikstad tonight as he nears a move to Arsenal. The 27-year-old forward has looked set to join Tottenham, but Arsenal made a last-minute bid to hijack the deal. All parties now expect him to join the Gunners, with a medical booked for Friday. As such, the player will not be involved as Crystal Palace play the first European match in the club's history, hosting Norwegian side Fredrikstad. Eze will be in attendance at Selhurst Park, though, in what will likely serve as his farewell to the club. Arsenal's bid for Eze is worth £67.5million, gazumping Tottenham's deal by offering improved payment terms. They are expected to wrap up personal terms in the coming days. There is a chance Eze could make his Arsenal debut against Leeds on Saturday, though he would need to be registered by noon on Friday to be eligible. The news follows Eagles manager Oliver Glasner's insistence that he would play in the match: 'He will come tomorrow to the Crystal Palace training ground, Tuesday off, we take Wednesday and I expect him to be back playing for us against Fredrikstad." This means, of course, that Eze has already played his final match for Palace - a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge. He was denied a spectacular free-kick goal in the first half after Marc Guehi was deemed to have positioned himself too close to the defensive wall. He signed for Palace in 2020 and has scored 34 goals in 134 Premier League appearances.

Leverkusen ready to sanction Adli's exit once they find a replacement

Bayer Leverkusen and Bournemouth have reached a total agreement on a fee estimated at €30 million for the transfer of Amine Adli. The Moroccan international should wait until his current club find a replacement, however. According to multiple reports from French and German media, the 25-year-old agreed to sign a five-year contract with the Premier League club. The reported €30 million fee includes add-ons for the all-rounder midfielder. Adli joined Leverkusen from Toulouse for only €7 million in 2021. Having linked with AS Monaco's Maghnes Akliouche for a while, reports now associate Der Werkself with his teammate Eliesse Ben Seghir. Adli assisted a goal in Leverkusen's cup tie on Friday.
