Banahan takes up Gloucester-Hartpury coaching role
Matt Banahan left his role with Scotland despite the World Cup being just a few weeks away [Getty Images] Gloucester-Hartpury have appointed former England back Matt Banahan as assistant coach. The 38-year-old joins the Premiership Women's Rugby side after leaving his role as Scotland's assistant coach earlier this month. Advertisement The Jersey-born former Bath and Gloucester player won 16 caps for England and was part of the squad that went to the 2011 World Cup. "I loved my time with Scotland, and I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to coach at international level, but the chance to join Gloucester-Hartpury was too good to turn down,' Banahan told the club website. "Working in women's rugby for the past two years and having many friends within the environment, I've really admired the work that Gloucester-Hartpury have done both on and off the field, and I'm excited to be a part of it." Head of rugby Dan Murphy added: "Matt has an incredible amount of knowledge and expertise, not just from his playing career but also from the way he studies and analyses the game. Advertisement "He was doing good things with Scotland; their backs have been sharp under his guidance, and he's already made a name for himself as a coach just two years into his coaching journey. "We're sure that he'll fit right in with The Circus and help take our world-class squad to another level."

England winger Feyi-Waboso banned for two games
England winger Immanuel Feyi-Waboso has been banned for two games after being sent off against a France XV on Saturday. Feyi-Waboso was shown a 34th-minute red card at Allianz Stadium after catching Antoine Hastoy on the head with a swinging right arm as he attempted a tackle. Advertisement The Exeter wing, 22, missed England's Six Nations campaign after dislocating his shoulder in December and is now suspended for their two-match Test series in Argentina. Once he has completed World Rugby's coaching intervention programme - informally known as tackle school - Feyi-Waboso will be available for the final match of England's summer tour against the United States on Saturday, 19 July. Former Chelsea winger has wild idea which would be even less popular than Robert Sanchez
Former Chelsea winger has wild idea which would be even less popular than Robert Sanchez Chelsea's goalkeeper situation is the subject of much debate after the Blues broke off talks to try and sign Mike Maignan. Currently the plan seems to be to keep using Robert Sanchez, although that's not a decision that will be very popular with many fans. Former Blue Pat Nevin has an even less popular suggestion, though. Advertisement 'The goalkeeper position is a tough one for Chelsea because what they're looking for is youth,' Nevin said in quotes picked up by CaughtOffside. 'But goalkeepers, like centre-backs, don't really come into their own until they're around 25 or 26. They are two very specific positions in that regard. Look who's already on their books with Robert Sanchez, Filip Jorgensen, Gabriel Slonina, Djordje Petrovic and Kepa Arrizabalaga.' WATCH Chelsea vs. ES Tunis for free on any device with DAZN. Pat Nevin points to Kepa as potential Chelsea goalkeeper solution Kepa Arrizabalaga playing for Bournemouth (Photo by) Advertisement Can you see where this is going yet? 'I think the resolution to their goalkeeping problem could already be at the club. Kepa is as good as any of the goalkeepers we have mentioned and he's an option that I think is worth revisiting for Chelsea. 'I'm not sure if the ownership regime would think the same, but he's there and they're paying him. 'If he's the best option at the club, after learning a lot of things while out on loan this season, Chelsea shouldn't be looking all around the world for another goalkeeper. 'Kepa has got better with his feet and is a fantastic shot-stopper. While you can question his presence and it's a challenge Chelsea face, I don't think it's their biggest problem.' Crazy Kepa suggestion would be a lead balloon with Chelsea fans We didn't think there could be an idea that would be digested worse than Chelsea sticking with Sanchez next season, but we might just have found it. Selling Kepa to Arsenal or Bournemouth for £5m this summer is a great result for us, and second guessing that would be a mistake.
