Boost Bank achieves close to RM150mil in SME loans
PETALING JAYA: Boost Bank, the fintech arm of Axiata Group Bhd and RHB Banking Group, has disbursed close to RM150mil in financing to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) since its launch last June.
The country's first homegrown digital bank said in a statement that the achievement reaffirmed its strong support for driving financial inclusion and empowering underserved small businesses.
'With typical loan sizes around RM300,000, this momentum is driven by Boost Bank's core financing solutions, term loan and revolving credit facilities, which are designed to meet the diverse needs of SMEs with minimal documentation requirements, fast loan processing, and flexible repayment options.
'Hundreds of SMEs have benefited from these solutions, including businesses from the wholesale sector, manufacturing, retail, construction, food and beverage, and more to meet day-to-day needs, manage cash flows, and expand with fewer hurdles and more flexibility,' the bank said.
Boost Bank chief executive officer Fozia Amanulla noted that SMEs were at the heart of Malaysia's economy.

EPB Group ventures into AI-powered healthcare equipment, services
KUALA LUMPUR: EPB Group Bhd has incorporated a new subsidiary, AI Medic Device Equipment Supplies Sdn Bhd (AI Medic), to enhance offerings and venture into artificial intelligence (AI)-powered healthcare equipment and services. AI Medic will focus on the sales, distribution and integration of robotic and automation technologies, as well as AI-driven food processing, packaging machinery solutions, and medical equipment. AI Medic was incorporated in Malaysia with an issued share capital of RM3,000 comprising 3,000 ordinary shares. EPB holds an 80 per cent stake, while the remaining 20 per cent is held by Fan Yanlin, who also serves as one of the unit's directors. Fan, the legal representative, major shareholder and director of Shenzhen Honglin Machinery Equipment Co Ltd, brings extensive industry experience to the partnership. His expertise is expected to strengthen AI Medic's technological capabilities and commercial prospects. EPB managing director Yeoh Chee Min said with Fan's strong background and leadership in Shenzhen Honglin, the company is confident the partnership will unlock new value, particularly in the high-growth medical technology segment. "This move not only complements our core machinery business but also aligns with our long-term strategy of expanding into future-forward sectors with strong demand drivers. Anwar expressed his support for the programme, which will take place at the Gong Badak Motorsport Circuit in Terengganu on Aug 22 and 23. "This programme brings together motorcycle enthusiasts nationwide, thereby taking the motorcycling industry to greater heights." He said the programme is not only a positive motorcycling platform but also a means to strengthen unity and foster patriotism among Malaysians.
