Comera Finance, part of Comera Financial Holding and Abu Dhabi's Royal Group, has received in-principle approval from the Central Bank of the UAE to operate as a fully licensed Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC). This significant milestone reinforces Comera's commitment to delivering a seamless, tech-powered financial ecosystem tailored for the UAE's digitally connected future.
Comera Finance will offer the entire spectrum of products including Retail, SME and Corporate lending. These would include Credit Cards, Personal Loans, Mortgages, Vehicle Finance and other borrowing requirements of Consumers and Letters of Credits, Bank Guarantees, Performance Bonds, Working Capital lending and tailor made Supply Chain Finance to its SME's and Corporate clients.
At the heart of Comera's offering will be its advanced digital infrastructure. Built on scalable cloud architecture, the platform leverages real-time processing, advanced security, AI-driven fraud detection, and instant payment notifications to create a frictionless experience for users.
This approval aligns with the UAE leadership's ambitious vision to build a world-class digital economy, promoting financial inclusion, innovation, and seamless access to digital services. As part of this national vision, Comera Finance will integrate with AANI, the Instant Payment Platform (IPP) and support Jaywan card issuance—paving the way for greater adoption of cashless transactions across the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Al-Falih said that the agreement falls within the Kingdom's vision to strengthen its economic partnerships with Arab countries and create promising investment opportunities. He noted that the signing of the agreement with Syria reflects the trend toward sustainable cooperation that supports the stability and prosperity of the region. Al-Shaar considered the signing of the agreement as a qualitative shift in the course of economic relations between Syria and Saudi Arabia, as well as opening up broad horizons for fruitful investment cooperation that achieves mutual benefit and strengthens fraternal ties between the two peoples. He highlighted the importance of the Saudi role in supporting the economic recovery process in Syria. A high-level Syrian delegation, led by Minister Al-Shaar, arrived in Riyadh on an official visit aimed at strengthening economic ties between the two countries. The visit follows the outcomes of last month's Saudi-Syrian Investment Forum, which was held in Damascus under the patronage of Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa and brought together over 100 Saudi companies and 20 Saudi government entities. In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MBRHE) has delivered more than AED1.725 billion worth of housing support packages to 3,027 beneficiaries in the first half of 2025. The figures reflect the Establishment's sustained efforts and unwavering commitment to enhancing family stability and overall quality of life for Emirati citizens. The housing support packages include 1,390 housing schemes valued at AED1.184 billion that extend support to citizens in building, maintaining, and purchasing homes. Additionally, 935 housing grants valued at AED540.3 million support home maintenance, construction, and ownership requests. Furthermore, 695 land grants have been facilitated under the packages as part of an integrated support system to enable citizens to own suitable homes. Mohammed Hassan Al Shehhi, Acting CEO of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Housing Establishment, affirmed that the achievements embody the leadership's vision of empowering citizens with high-quality housing solutions, stating: 'We are committed to translating the noble directives into tangible results by innovating a flexible and comprehensive housing system based on efficiency and service quality, contributing to higher levels of family and social stability.' Al Shehhi further emphasised that all such efforts are in alignment with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which aim to position Dubai as a global leader in quality of life through an advanced and sustainable housing ecosystem that promotes economic growth alongside social cohesion.

The UAE achieved a major milestone in global competitiveness, advancing to 16th place worldwide in the 2025 Government Support Index, one of the key indicators featured in the International Institute for Management Development's (IMD) World Competitiveness Yearbook. The ranking represents a remarkable 27-place improvement from the UAE's 43rd position in 2024. The Government Support Index measures the value of government support as a percentage of gross domestic product (GDP). UAE competitiveness It serves as a benchmark for the efficiency of public financial resource management and a country's ability to stimulate economic growth through effective public spending. The Ministry of Finance said the UAE's rapid rise reflects the efficiency of its fiscal policies and ongoing efforts to strengthen the effectiveness of public expenditure. This progress has been achieved through close coordination between the federal government and local financial departments, advancing financial analysis tools and optimising resource allocation. The Ministry added that continued improvements in financial data quality, sustainability practices, and fiscal balance are central to the UAE's long-term strategy. These measures not only enhance global competitiveness but also support the country's commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The Ministry said: 'We aspire to rank among the world's top ten in the Government Support Index by 2026, guided by the vision of our wise leadership and the dedication of our national teams. 'We will continue to embed a results-driven approach based on effective public spending and financial sustainability to drive the nation's growth.' According to the IMD Yearbook, the UAE ranked among the world's top 10 in several competitiveness indicators, underscoring its strong fiscal framework: 1st place globally in both venture capital and collected personal income tax as a percentage of GDP 2nd in corporate profit tax rate 3rd in government budget surplus/deficit ($bn) 4th in both decline in indirect tax revenues and decline in consumption tax rate 5th in taxes collected on capital and property 6th in public finance 7th globally, 1st regionally in government expenditure as a percentage of GDP 9th in real growth of government consumption expenditure These achievements highlight the UAE's ability to balance fiscal transparency, economic sustainability, and global competitiveness, reaffirming its position as a leading international hub for investment and innovation.
