MMA fans finally have an answer, as the
UFC
boss
,
Dana White
, on Friday, May 16, 2025, dismissed the idea of
Conor McGregor
's return to the Octagon. Supporters of the Irish fighter had a hope when the Notorious recently posted a set of cryptic words on his Instagram story, which were still dicey owing to the fighter's previous vague statements of picking up the gloves again.
Conor McGregor's vague comeback statement continues to be a mere gimmick as UFC CEO Dana White dismisses any possible bout for the fighter
Former UFC champion Conor McGregor was last seen going head-on against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, where the former broke his leg during the bout. Post that, the Irish fighter was supposed to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303 but had to withdraw owing to a toe injury. Since then, there have been no signs of the fighter stepping back into the Octagon anytime soon. Instead of any concrete announcement or confirmation of a comeback bout, the fighter engages in posting occasional training clips and cryptic statements that partly hint at his return to the Octagon.
Recently, the fighter was seen posting a series of
cryptic messages
on his Instagram stories directed towards the UFC executives and the boss, Dana White. Across two different stories, his statements read

It has been quite some time since the fighter had last tagged the promotion and its executives directly in a comeback statement. Which is why fans were somewhat more optimistic rather than being sceptical about McGregor's potential comeback.
But much to the dismay of the community, Dana White, on May 16, made a revelation about his recent interaction with McGregor, which crushed the hopes of the fans. In a recent clip, the UFC CEO makes a statement about the potential comeback of the fighter, 'He is not fighting anytime soon. I haven't talked to him in a minute. Yeah…I don't know.'

Dana White, plain and simple, dismissed the fighter's supposed request that was made via the Instagram stories. Fighters like Michael Chandler, too, waited for McGregor to step back into the Octagon before finally moving on with other fighters, thereby concentrating on their own careers. With White's statement, McGregor's claims become irrelevant, and fans can now be assured about the probable future of the fighter inside the Octagon.

RCB Victory Parade Stampede Causes Internet Storm
Bengaluru: The Karnataka government's celebratory zeal turned into a tragic nightmare as a stampede during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL 2025 victory parade claimed 11 lives and injured 33 others near M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Congress-led administration, under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, is now under intense scrutiny for its alleged insensitivity and negligence, with netizens and opposition leaders alike slamming the government for prioritising political mileage over public safety. The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with many holding the government directly responsible for the preventable tragedy. RCB's first IPL title win in 18 years was a historic moment for fans, culminating in a victory over Punjab Kings by 6 runs on June 3. The Karnataka government which was seen eager to bask in the glory of Bengaluru's triumph, rushed to organise a victory parade within 12 hours of the win. It is a stark contrast to other IPL teams like KKR, MI, and CSK, which held their parades 2-3 days later with proper planning, and the Indian T20 World Cup team, which waited 5 days. The parade, which began at Vidhana Soudha and was meant to culminate at Chinnaswamy Stadium, drew an estimated 2-3 lakh fans, far exceeding the stadium's capacity of 35,000. The situation spiralled out of control when a small gate at the stadium was breached, leading to a deadly stampede. The outrage on social media has been palpable, with netizens demanding accountability from the Congress government. The opposition BJP has also seized the opportunity to criticise the government, with leaders like Amit Malviya labeling the incident as a result of "lack of basic administrative foresight" and Chalavadi Narayanaswamy calling it "unforgivable." The government's response has done little to quell public anger. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced Rs. 10 lakh compensation for the families of the deceased and ordered a magisterial inquiry, but his statement, "Over two to three lakh people gathered. No one expected such a crowd," has been met with disbelief. Critics argue that such a turnout was entirely predictable given RCB's massive fanbase and the significance of the win. Deputy CM DK Shivakumar apologised for the overcrowding and cancelled the procession, but his earlier presence at the airport to greet the players has been cited as evidence of the government's attempt to politicise the event. The RCB victory parade stampede has exposed deep flaws in the Karnataka government's approach to public safety, with netizens and opposition leaders united in their demand for justice. The 11 lives lost and 33 injuries sustained are not seen as mere statistics but is a stark reminder of the cost of political insensitivity. For RCB fans, what should have been a moment of triumph has been overshadowed by tragedy, leaving a bitter taste in the wake of their long-awaited victory. The Congress-led Karnataka government now faces a reckoning, as Bengaluru mourns and the nation watches, demanding that such a preventable disaster never happens again.

RJ Mahvash shuts down troll questioning her cricket knowledge after revealing Yuzvendra Chahal played IPL 2025 with three fractures
RJ Mahvash isn't one to stay silent when targeted by online trolls, especially when it concerns cricket or Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal . The content creator and popular presenter recently posted an emotional tribute to Punjab Kings after their defeat in the IPL 2025 final and revealed a shocking detail: Chahal, the most expensive spinner in IPL history, played the tournament with three fractures. But while fans were moved by her post, one Instagram user took a dig at her, questioning her credibility as a cricket fan. Mahvash claps back at troll doubting her cricket background 'She's just grabbing followers in the name of Yuzi. I bet she even started watching cricket recently,' commented a user under her post. The remark didn't go unnoticed. Mahvash swiftly fired back, saying, 'I have been hosting cricket since 2019, your knowledge is nil chotu! Research!' — signing off with a facepalm emoji. Her confident response earned widespread praise, with fans hailing it as a 'savage' and much-needed clapback. In her original post, Mahvash had revealed the extent of Chahal's injuries during the season. 'His ribs got fractured in the second match only and his bowling finger got fractured later,' she wrote. 'This guy played the entire season with 3 fractures!' She hailed Chahal as a 'warrior' and praised his endurance, writing: 'He gave his everything despite the pain. No one can question his spirit.' Praise for Punjab Kings despite final loss Mahvash also took a moment to appreciate Punjab Kings for their journey through the tournament, calling it an 'honour' to support them this year. 'Well played boys,' she added, while also extending congratulations to RCB on their win. While Mahvash is frequently seen with Chahal in social media snippets, she has remained tight-lipped about the nature of their relationship. In an earlier interview with Yuvaa, she had said: 'I'm very single and happy… I don't go out on casual dates. Just like Ali in Dhoom, I start imagining kids and the future.' Meanwhile, Chahal's personal life has made headlines after his divorce from choreographer Dhanashree Verma was finalised on March 20 at the Bandra family court. The two had tied the knot in December 2020, and news of their separation surfaced earlier this year. 'Perfect Moment': Bhuvneshwar Kumar Salutes RCB Fans After First-Ever IPL Win
Bhuvneshwar picked up two wickets for RCB in the IPL 2025 final played against PBKS at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3. Bhuvneshwar Kumar dedicated Royal Challengers Bengaluru's maiden title victory on Tuesday, June 3, to the franchise's loyal supporters, who never gave up on them despite years of heartbreak in the Indian Premier League. The experienced RCB seamer saluted the team's emotional fanbase that kept filling the stands and sent prayers for the team's success. Bhuvneshwar also made a point to remember former RCB stars, including legends AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle, for their contributions. 'It means a lot. Everyone had been waiting for this moment for 17 years. With such a massive fanbase and so many prayers behind us, it's a perfect moment for us, for all the former RCB players, and everyone who's been a part of this journey," said the veteran quickly in a post-match interaction with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. In a video posted by the franchise, Bhuvneshwar hailed the fans for acting as a motivation to end the painstaking 18-year trophy drought. Released by his former franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad, Bhuvneshwar saw uncertainty ahead of him as his disappointing performances in IPL 2024 pulled the Indian seamer's stocks drastically. But his fortunes changed at the pre-season auction where RCB showed faith in the ageing IPL great with a bid of 10.75 crores. Known for his new-ball swing and death-overs expertise, Bhuvneshwar emerged as a dark horse in RCB's attack, taking 17 wickets in 14 matches and forming a great bowling duo with spearhead Josh Hazlewood. While Hazlewood got the accolades for picking 22 scalps in RCB's inspiring run, Bhuvneshwar once again played an underrated role, including in the final, where he took two crucial wickets of Punjab Kings batters Nahel Wadhera and Marcus Stoinis. The twin strikes curtailed the wings of a power-packed PBKS line-up that fell six runs short of ultimate glory after RCB had posted an imposing 190/9 in the high-pressure finale. Bhuvneshwar had played a similar role in Qualifier 1 versus the same opponent, dismissing in-form opener Prabhsimran Singh early to dismantle PBKS' plans. The 2016 and 2017 Purple Cap winner has a career IPL tally of 190 wickets to his name with an economy rate of only 7.69. First Published: June 05, 2025, 23:58 IST
