Massive fight breaks out at Royal Caribbean's CocoCay
Carnival Cruise Line isn't the only cruise line dealing with unruly passengers these days.
Although some loyal Royal Caribbean cruisers tend to think that overall passenger behavior is better on Royal Caribbean cruises than on Carnival sailings, a huge fight that just went viral on TikTok tells a different story.
On Aug. 3, Royal Caribbean's private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, saw a brawl that involved more passengers than the viral Carnival cruise terminal fight that landed 24 Carnival Jubilee passengers on the cruise line's 'Do Not Sail' list in April. To be clear, fights of this magnitude rarely occur on any cruise, so you shouldn't let either of these incidents stop you from sailing. Cruise lines have strict zero-tolerance policies for violence and unruly behavior, and getting banned from ever sailing with the cruise line again is a normal consequence of participating in a physical altercation on a cruise.
But what the recent Royal Caribbean and Carnival passenger brawls do show is that fights can happen anywhere. And when they do happen in today's world, you can bet videos are going to end up on social media.
Doug Parker shared details on the CocoCay brawl, and other cruise news, including a luxury cruise ship's failed health inspection, on the Aug. 6 edition of Cruise News Today.More than 30 cruise passengers fight in CocoCay's Oasis Lagoon
Cruise News Today Transcript:
This is Cruise News Today with Doug Parker.
Good morning, here's your cruise news for Wednesday, August 6th.
A brawl involving more than 30 passengers broke out on Sunday at Royal Caribbean's private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, forcing a temporary shutdown of Oasis Lagoon — that's the island's main pool. This short clip from TikTok used here for reporting and commentary shows the aftermath near the swim-up bar, while Utopia of the Seas and Jewel of the Seas were both in port. A passenger sailing on Utopia told our tip line that one guest was reportedly injured and led away by security.
No word yet if any arrests or bans took place, and Royal Caribbean has not released a statement at the time of broadcast. However, the viral video has people talking about behavior, alcohol service, and security at cruise lines' private islands.

Luxury residential cruise ship fails first CDC health inspection
And the Villa Vie Odyssey — that round-the-world cruise ship you can live on operated by Villa Vie Residences — failed its first public health inspection. The ship scored an 81 last month in Alaska, falling below the CDC's passing grade of 85.
Inspectors found major deficiencies in potable water safety, including low chlorine levels and inadequate backflow. Now, other violations included out-of-order food equipment, improper time and temperature controls for food and milk, and missing safety signage at the swimming pool.
The ship is currently sailing its inaugural world cruise, just celebrating its 100th port.
It just recently left Alaska and is en route to Asia.Norwegian Cruise Line removes bottled water from Hawaii beverage package
And no more bottled water in the water package. You heard that correctly. Norwegian Cruise Line is going green aboard Pride of America.
Starting this month, the Hawaii beverage and water packages no longer include bottled water. Instead, guests will get unlimited premium Vero Water vending machine access from refill stations around the ship. This is part of NCL's Sail and Sustain initiative.
It should be noted that bottled water still remains available for individual purchase. A reusable bottle comes with the $29.95 water package or sold separately for $14.95, as NCL continues to save the planet one upsell at a time. And cruise stocks were all down around 1% on Tuesday. Carnival Corporation: 29.28, Royal Caribbean: 311.36, NCL: 25.00, and Viking: 58.21.

People Are Finally Warming Up To JoJo Siwa Dating Chris Hughes After The Initial Shock Of Their Hetero-Relationship Went Viral
JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes are winning people over one TikTok video at a time. And their most recent post has a lot of viewers doing a collective "aww" as they witnessed just how much fun the 22-year-old entertainer and the 32-year-old media personality have together. Earlier this week, JoJo shared a video from their three days exploring the new Star of the Seas Royal Caribbean cruise — their newest and largest ship. Along with Chris, some of JoJo's family also came along for the adventure. Related: The nearly 30-second video featured a ton of sweet clips showing the couple smiling and giggling while trying out all of the amenities. From a giant waterslide... ...to showing off skills on the basketball court... ...and racing down another waterslide... Related: ...sprinkling in some baby time... ...and walking around the 1,196-foot boat. All of this while stealing some cute intimate moments with each other. Related: Related: These positive comments come after JoJo received a lot of backlash when she admitted she "felt pressure to identify as a lesbian," and dumped her ex Kath Ebbs at the Celebrity Big Brother UK wrap party. Some people from the LGBTQ+ community accused JoJo of turning her back on them when she publicly stated that she no longer identified as a lesbian, while also going public with her relationship with Chris on Instagram. Needless to say, I think we can all agree it's ultimately not our place to tell her who to love. And I'm glad fans are finally allowing her to enjoy this happy time in her life, no matter who she loves! Regent Seven Seas unveils three final, special itineraries for Navigator
The Seven Seas Navigator's final season with Regent Seven Seas Cruises will include special events and sailings, culminating in a final sailing Oct. 2, 2026, hosted by the cruise line's chief commercial officer. The Navigator entered the fleet in 1999, back when the line was called Radisson Seven Seas Cruises. After its final cruise for Regent, it will transfer to a new cruise line, Crescent Seas, which plans to transform it into a residential ship. The Navigator's Oct. 2 sailing will be the last of three commemorative voyages in Europe between August and October 2026. The first will be a 12-night culinary-themed sailing to Spain and Portugal hosted by culinary leaders at Regent. It will begin Aug. 12 in Le Havre, France. The ship will then sail a "reunion cruise" roundtrip from Barcelona with notable Regent alumni, including founding president Mark Conroy and general manager Davor Josipovic. The sailing will include panels, cocktail events and crew and officer cooking competitions. The final sailing, hosted by chief commercial officer Wes D'Silva, will be a 14-night cruise departing from Istanbul. Among the festivities will be a gala night and auctions of Seven Seas Navigator memorabilia. Guests on the three sailings can also expect surprise entertainment and activities, Regent said.
