Charli XCX defies bridal style with eye-wateringly expensive wedding ring
Charlotte Aitchison is now Mrs George Daniel after tying-the-knot in an intimate ceremony in London on Saturday. The 32-year-old pop sensation, better known by her stage name Charli XCX, and The 1975 drummer, 35, have been an item since 2022.
And on Saturday they swapped vows at Hackney Town Hall in front of their parents and a small crowd of close friends and loved ones. Photographs from the wedding day were splashed online - showing Charli and George beaming on the steps of the town hall where they married.
Fans fawned over chart-topping star Charli's cream coloured bridal gown - which wrapped around her body and was matched with a pristine white veil. Posing on the steps of the hall, Charli exuded an element of cool as she adorned shared and clasped the hand of her rock star husband.
Fans looking closely at her hand, however, will have noticed the dazzling rings that the Good Ones singer was sporting on her wedding finger. And, indeed, it would seem the star is carrying an impressive amount of bling on her finger - which one jewellery expert has valued at around £14,000.
Laura Taylor, engagement ring specialist at Lorel Diamonds, said of the engagement ring: 'Charli's engagement ring is a classic design that lets the diamond do all the talking, featuring a 1-carat round brilliant solitaire, set on a platinum band.
'Round brilliants are still the most popular engagement cut because of how much light they reflect from every angle, giving them the trademark diamond sparkle. If the stone is natural and of excellent colour and clarity, I'd estimate it to be worth around £12,000 to £15,000 (around $16,000 to $20,000).
'George made the perfect choice with this ring because it works with any style and will never date. Even though Charli's known for pushing boundaries elsewhere, her engagement ring is something she'll be able to wear for life.'
But it's not just Charli's engagement ring that dazzles - as her wedding band also stands out. Laura explains: 'Charli's wedding band is where she's really made it her own.
"Rather than going for a traditional band to sit next to the solitaire, or even an eternity band like we're seeing with other celebrities, she's chosen something much bolder.
'From the photos, it looks like a wide ring with a twisted overlapping design, again in platinum to match her engagement ring.
'It's chunky and very different to the delicate bands you usually see paired with solitaires. We are starting to see more celebrities choosing bold rings this year, like Dua Lipa and her chunky engagement ring."
The jewelry expert continued: "I'd estimate Charli's wedding band to be worth around £8,000 to £10,000 ($11,000 to $13,000), depending on the designer.
'The choice fits perfectly with the rest of her wedding look, as she wore a short white dress and sunglasses to her ceremony, skipping the usual formal bridal style. By pairing a classic engagement ring with a statement wedding band, Charli's showing you don't have to follow the usual rules."

We are entering a new era of deathly dull boy-next-door types singing earnestly about their feelings while ensuring that they don't offend anyone in any way whatsoever. See No 1 stars such as Alex Warren, Benson Boone and other perfectly nice young men with a special ability to sit squarely in the middle of the middle. Perhaps, in an age when some silly thing you said as a teenager in a moment of online rashness can be used as evidence of the fact that you are a horrible human being who must be destroyed, these men are so terrified of being cancelled that they have decided the best approach is to be as boring as possible. Yet the new tranche of female pop stars have gone in the opposite direction. From Charli XCX capturing the messiness of a night out to Sabrina Carpenter's submissive sexuality ironically or deliberately setting the cause of feminism back a few decades, via Chappell Roan employing a flamboyance once exhibited by male pop stars such as David Bowie and Marc Bolan, it's the women who are pushing their personas to the limit. Add to this list Reneé Rapp, star of a musical version of Mean Girls and the TV show The Sex Lives of College Girls, who is back with a fun, punky album that throws caution to the wind entirely. 'Oh Christ, it's getting hard to be nice,' she sighs on Mad, in theory a break-up song but in reality an exasperated critique of a girlfriend who is cross with her. And the mood of the album is best summarised by a summery pop anthem on which Rapp moans about life's annoyances, from agents harassing her to ex-girlfriends still wanting to be with her. It's called At Least I'm Hot. She does show her sensitive side every now and then. On one haunted ballad she laments the 'other woman' destroying her romantic life, but the fact that it is called Why Is She Still Here? suggests she hasn't fully come to terms with her feelings. Amid all this, Rapp's sexuality is never politicised or used as a banner of queer identity, it is simply taken as fact. It means there is something carefree and fresh about the album, even as the songs stick to well-worn formats. Rapp really does come across as someone who is just being herself. Lewis Capaldi says drummer was in ‘floods of tears' at secret Glastonbury set
The 28-year-old performed a 35-minute surprise performance on the Pyramid stage, having taken a two-year break from performing after his last appearance at the Somerset festival, and revealed he had to leak his own secret set after he was worried people would not turn up. Capaldi said: 'I'm not great at keeping secrets, I wanted it to be a surprise, but we had to start leaking it out a couple of weeks before because it would have been strange to come out to an empty field. 'By that weekend it was the worst-kept secret. It was genuinely the best day of my life, I loved every moment of it. 'Almost immediately, I was overcome with emotion and I started to well up, so I was like, 'get it together', but then I turned around and looked at my drummer, and he was in floods of tears. 'It was weird, I knew it was going to be fine this time around. I had nerves and butterflies, but it wasn't the same as 2023 when I was so stressed and I knew something bad was going to happen. It was spectacular.' Capaldi was speaking as part of the launch of Apple Music's Music That Soothes Me series of curated playlists, with the singer himself putting together a track list including the likes of Fontaines DC, Lana Del Rey and The 1975. The series, which features music intended to help listeners relax and unwind, also features playlists curated by Renee Rapp and Bring Me The Horizon.
