Peter Krykant remembered as a 'lifesaver' at funeral
At his funeral at Falkirk Crematorium yesterday (July 21) the Daily Record reports celebrant John Fox said: "The tragedy is that Peter cared so much about the cause of safe consumption and harm reduction to improve the lives and experiences of people who use drugs.
"Yet he was not able to address his own mental and physical health and to find his way out of addiction and back to the safe stability of his loving family and friends.'

(Image: Mark F Gibson) He was also praised by MSP Paul Sweeney who said: "Peter's death is a great tragedy to all those who knew and loved him. He undoubtedly saved lives and his legacy is evident."
Peter set up the consumption room, which operated in 2020 and 2021, in a converted van in Glasgow city centre.
He used crowdfunding and his own money in an effort to highlight the need for a safe space for drug users to inject.
The van was modelled on a similar operation Peter, who also battled addiction, visited in Copenhagen and had sterile injecting kits, swabs and Naloxone, as well as a defibrillator.
The Glasgow Times previously reported Peter was found dead after police were called to Graham Avenue in Larbert on Monday, June 9 following a report of concern for a person.

Prison officer killed 'one in a million' Scots dad after hitting him with car
Robert Jardine was returning from a night shift at HMP Addiewell when he hit the man who was walking on a cycle path. A prison officer has admitted causing the death of a dog walker after striking him with his car. Robert Jardine, 40, was returning from a night shift at HMP Addiewell when he hit William Henderson in Cumbernauld, Lanarkshire. He stopped his Citroen and contacted the emergency services before trying to help a stricken Mr Henderson, 49, who had been walking on a cycle path. Mr Henderson, a dad-of-two and a grandfather, was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow but died hours later in May last year. Medics discovered he had suffered a 'significant' head injury, a fractured neck and was in cardiac arrest. Jardine told police investigating the horror incident: "I was driving home from work and saw a male walking a dog and as I approached him he just walked out in front of me." He was charged over the incident after an eight month investigation. Jardine, of Cumbernauld, appeared at Airdrie Sheriff Court and admitted causing death by careless driving. The court heard Mr Henderson was walking his pet dog at 8.10am when Jardine's car left the road and struck him. A witness heard Jardine say in the aftermath of the incident: "He just walked out in front of me, I couldn't stop." The police investigation found Jardine approached Mr Henderson, who had his back towards the vehicle, at 39mph and then hit him. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Police found 'no faults or defects' with the Citroen that could have contributed to the collision. The bumper of the Citroen was broken and there was damage to the headlights as a result of Mr Henderson being struck. Tony Lenehan KC, defending, said: "Nothing I say can undo the harm caused to Mr Henderson and his family. "Mr Henderson was in no way responsible for what happened and was perfectly entitled to be walking in the cycle lane and to expect drivers to drive safely. "Mr Jardine has no previous convictions and has no points on his licence." Sheriff Paul Haran deferred sentence until next month for reports, continued bail and disqualified Jardine from driving meantime. Mr Henderson's loved ones had previously paid tribute to him and described him as 'one of life's good guys' and 'one in a million'.

Ryanair passenger removed from Edinburgh flight after 'vaping in toilet'
The Ryanair passenger, a 21-year-old man, was removed from the Edinburgh Airport flight after he was accused of committing an aviation offence. A RyanAir passenger was marched off a plane by six police officers at Edinburgh Airport after allegedly vaping in a cabin toilet. A 21-year-old man caused a two-hour delay to his flight after it is said he puffed on a vape in the loo before the plane was due to take off at Edinburgh Airport for Alicante, Spain. Police are said to have stormed the aircraft and detained the young man on suspicion of breaching aviation laws, reports the Mirror. Tristan James Walker, one of the passengers waiting for the plane to leave, filmed the encounter. The 39-year-old man claims the toilet's smoke detector was triggered, resulting in the lad's swift ejection. Mr Walker said the man on his flight was bundled into a police van amid their delay. Authorities have confirmed the 21-year-old suspect has been charged in relation to an aviation offence. Speaking yesterday about the footage, shot on July 3, Mr Walker said: "A young lad in a group happened to set the alarm off for apparently vaping. "The pilot then came out after the air stewardess explained what happened, and then the pilot stated he would be removed from the plane. The young lad waited for over six police officers to come on board. "He was taken off, he was very calm, didn't argue or anything, no drama. We then happened to bump into him on Benidorm's famous strip and he told us he just got a caution and was banned from Ryanair." A representative for Police Scotland said: "Around 7.55 am on Thursday, July 3, 2025 were called to an aircraft at Edinburgh Airport. Officers attended, and a 21-year-old man was charged in connection with an aviation offence. A report was submitted to the Procurator Fiscal." Ryanair has been approached for comment. We previously reported, in a separate incident, that an Edinburgh-bound easyJet flight was forced to make an emergency landing at a Bulgarian airport after technical difficulties, with passengers reporting a 'disgusting smell'. At around 9.55pm UK time on July 22, easyJet flight EZY3282 from Dalaman, Turkey, to the Scottish capital took off and was due to arrive at around 12.45am on Wednesday morning. However, the aircraft was forced to make a U-turn over Serbia and land in Sofia, Bulgaria, roughly two hours into the journey following a reported technical issue. EasyJet said that the plane was due to complete the remainder of the journey on the following day. Karen, a passenger, from Drumchapel in Glasgow, claimed that the plane was diverted due to a "disgusting" smell. She said: "Two hours into our flight, everybody started smelling this horrible smell. It smelled of a dirty nappy. It was disgusting. "It clearly went all the way through to the cockpit because the pilot got on the tannoy and spoke to the whole plane. "He told us that he had never smelled anything like this in all his years as a pilot and we would have to divert to Bulgaria so it could be investigated."
