Top Red Sox prospect named Triple-A Player of the Week after hitting four homers
'The Password' collected 10 hits last week, including four home runs and four doubles, along with 13 RBIs to be named the International League Position Player of the Week.
The 22-year-old outfielder was joined by Erick Leal, a pitcher in the Yankees organization. In the Pacific Coast League, Rockies infielder Keston Hiura, and Padres pitcher Wes Benjamin made the list.
Starting the year at Double-A Portland, Garcia made his Worcester debut in May, launching three home runs in the contest.
Since then, Garcia has not slowed down at all, performing better with the WooSox than with the Sea Dogs. In 54 games at Triple-A, the outfielder is slashing .305/.375/.587, with 15 homers and 44 RBIs.
Garcia's efforts this season earned him a spot in the MLB All-Star Futures Game in July.
The Venezuelan's stellar year also put him atop plenty of watchlists as last week's MLB trade deadline approached. With there already being a hefty supply of outfielders on the major league roster, some insiders expected Garcia to be a possible trade chip in Boston's deals.
Garcia was reportedly included in a trade package for Minnesota starter Joe Ryan, but in the end, Red Sox did not offer enough with him to get a deal done.
With Garcia not being moved at the deadline, he'll stay put in Worcester for the time being.
His brother Johanfran, a catcher, also plays in Boston's organization, currently assigned to High-A Greenville.

MIAMI (AP) — Xavier Edwards went 4 for 5 with a double, Graham Pauley and Heriberto Hernández each hit a solo homer and the Miami Marlins beat Houston 6-4 on Wednesday to snap a seven-game losing streak against the Astros. Janson Junk (6-2) allowed three runs on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts in five innings. The Marlins are 8-2 in Junk's 10 starts since joining the rotation June 20. Lake Bachar pitched a scoreless ninth for his second save.
