Watford boss Paulo Pezzolano hails impact of matchwinner Luca Kjerrumgaard
The Dane opened the scoring after 19 minutes when he slotted home Nestory Irankunda's cross from the left and the on-loan Udinese forward then nodded home Imran Louza's cross in the 23rd minute.
Morgan drilled home from outside the box in first-half stoppage time to keep the pressure on the Hornets but they held on although the win was marred when Louza, on his 100th appearance for Watford, was given a straight red card three minutes into added time for a high tackle on Rangers sub Jonathan Varane.
Pezzloano said through an interpreter after his first win in charge: 'I'm very happy for Luca. We know that he is going to be a top striker – a very good player.
'He is young, and we will take care of his development.
'But it's good for the team to know that there is a guy up front who can seize chances.'
Pezzalano did not rule out an appeal to Louza's red card after taking time to review the incident and added: 'The incident was on the far side of the match, so I can't comment. We may appeal once people at the club have looked again.'
QPR boss Julien Stephan, still looking for his first win in English football after three attempts, was not happy with the way his side performed in the first half, although was much happier with the display after the interval.
He said: 'We played two completely different halves. The first half was poor tactically, technically and in terms of intensity with and without the ball.
'The second half was vey good when we created danger.
'I was very disappointed at half-time because this was not the way I want us to play. We need to improve to be better for the next games as we need to be better.
'I hope we will be quickly able to play more than 45 minutes, especially away from home.
'It's probably my fault because I didn't prepare the players properly for the way Watford played in the first half.
'We need to read situations more quickly, and we needed to play better in the second half for our fans.
'That's football – we can lose matches but we must with character and intensity, not like we played in the first half.'

McCrorie made 114 stars for Aberdeen between 2020 and 2023, having joined on an initial loan-to-buy deal from rivals Rangers, before signing for the Dons permanently in January 2021. The one-cap Scotland international made 26 appearances for Bristol City last season, scoring five goals. On the Championship's opening weekend for the new campaign, McCrorie scored with a cracking finish and also provided an assist in a 4-1 win over Sheffield United. Udinese only just completed a deal for ex-Aberdeen striker Lee Miller's son, Lennon, on Tuesday. The Italian outfit struck a £4.75m deal with Motherwell for the highly-rated young midfield playmaker.

Aberdeen's former £2million striker joins new club in New Zealand
Former Aberdeen striker Sam Cosgrove has embarked on a new challenge after joining Auckland FC in New Zealand. The 28-year-old has joined the Black Knights from English League One side Barnsley, where he scored seven goals and registered six assists across 60 games. Cosgrove, who scored 47 goals in 103 appearances for the Dons before joining Birmingham City in a £2million deal in 2021, is relishing his new challenge in New Zealand. He told the Auckland FC website: 'I spent a lot of time researching the club before I made the move, and the more I heard, the more I wanted to join. 'What the club has achieved, the way the city has got behind the team, I was eager to be a part of it. 'I've had a couple of training sessions now and spent some time with the team. 'The culture and togetherness are outstanding. Being from overseas, I'm still adjusting, but everyone has been so supportive and friendly.' Auckland finished first in the A League last season to progress to the finals where they were eliminated at the semi-final stage by Melbourne Victory. Cosgrove joins the Auckland squad for Saturday's Australia Cup semi-final against Sydney. The Black Knights will then play a friendly against Western Sydney Wanderers next week. Auckland head coach Steve Corica is delighted to have the experienced Englishman on board. He said: 'Sam is going to be a great acquisition and will provide firepower to the front line. He's a proven goal-scorer and we're pleased to have secured his signature. 'He is a big, physical striker who I think will be well-suited to the league. He's also got a great deal of experience. We're looking forward to having him as part of the group. 'We're an ambitious group keen to improve on last year's performance, so right now, we're focused on building a squad to do that. With the closing date for the PFA awards now June 8 — rather than mid-March — members are able to give a much better, balanced vote. The previous event in London was a sit-down dinner often in April, so it did not reflect the entire season. After taking over as PFA chief exec, Maheta Molango scrapped the boozy dinner and replaced it with this 90-minute show in a theatre.
