I've tried dozens of hair masks– this is the one that actually repairs damage
I've been having a bit of a hair crisis as of late. I've been a tape-in extension wearer for the best part of a decade, but these heatwaves have not been mixing well with my masses of added hair. With the sweat and humidity, my scalp has felt product-heavy, itchy, and greasy—not glamorous.
So, a few weeks ago, I decided to ditch my beloved tape-ins until at least autumn in a bid to give my natural hair a much-needed break from root strain and avoid the discomfort of heavy-feeling hair over the summer months. While I made sure my extensions were professionally maintained so that damage was kept to a minimum, my natural hair wasn't in its best condition when they came out.
Most of the damage was scraggly ends that needed a chop, but my natural strands also felt a little weak and lacklustre. What I needed was a tried and trusted treatment to nurse them back to health, and I found it in Philip Kingsley's Honey Nectar and Peach Elasticizer, £40 for a tub.
This pre-shampoo treatment (yes, not exactly a conditioner) isn't just a cult favourite for no reason– it's packed with powerhouse ingredients that bring real results, which I can attest to.
Originally created for Audrey Hepburn in the 1970s to help revive her hair after weeks of it being heat-styled on set, the Elasticizer is all about bringing bounce, hydration and strength back to stressed-out strands like mine. The Honey Nectar & Peach edition smells like a summer afternoon- soft, juicy peaches and a delicate hint of warm honey- but it's not just about fragrance. The formula is rich in hydrolysed elastin, which helps to improve hair's stretch and strength, reducing breakage and snapping. You've also got castor oil to lock in moisture and olive oil to soften and add serious shine.
It's super simple to use, just apply once a week to damp hair before shampooing, leave on for 10–20 minutes (or longer if you fancy– sometimes I wear mine for a few hours while I'm working), then rinse and wash as usual.
I've been using it for the best part of a month now, and my hair feels so much softer, looks much shinier, and my ends no longer look split. I know it'll take a while for the thickness to improve, but it's by far the best 'instant fix' treatment I've found for damaged and dull hair.
I'll share a full hair recovery breakdown soon, but another product I'm also loving is Mielle's Rosemary and Mint Strengthening Leave-in Conditioner, £9.99. I bought a bottle from Amazon after being influenced on TikTok, and I really think it's helping my hair grow back faster and stronger.

Amazon's better than Boots deal cuts 'fast absorbing' Olay night cream by 55%
One shopper who has used it for years says it 'keeps fine lines from developing into wrinkles' When it comes to your nightly skincare routine, nobody wants to spend ages prepping before bed. So you're after something that's streamlined, effective, and genuinely beneficial. Products that offer dual benefits are thus a blessing when it's late, and all you want is to hit the sack. That's why numerous customers have been singing praises for the Olay Retinol 24 MAX Night Cream. It merges the anti-ageing and skin renewal properties of a serum with the hydration and skin-smoothing effects of a moisturiser. Though typically priced at £44, Amazon has currently included it in a limited-time offer, slashing the price by 55 per cent to £19.98, saving you over £24. This deal also competes with Boots, where the same cream is currently discounted from £43.99 to £21.99, making it £2 pricier – plus, Amazon Prime members enjoy the added perk of free next-day delivery. The Olay Retinol 24 MAX Night Cream enhances your skin's moisture levels with 50 per cent more hydrating ingredients and is claimed to transform the softness and smoothness of your skin after just one night's use. It also aids in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles over time. The cosmetic contains retinyl propionate, which penetrates deep into your skin's layers to smooth out texture, along with vitamin E and 50 per cent more glycerin for a soft, smooth look, reports the Mirror. For alternative choices, Paula's Choice Anti-Ageing Intensive Repair Moisturiser is presently discounted from £39 to £33.15. Featuring an exceptionally rich formula containing 0.2 per cent retinol, it strengthens the skin's protective barrier whilst diminishing fine lines, offering a mild introduction to retinol skincare. In addition, Medik8's Intelligent Retinol Smoothing Night Cream receives excellent reviews, boasting gradual-release 0.2% retinol that's suitable for newcomers to retinol. Though it commands a higher price point at £60 for a 50ml pot compared to alternative products. Meanwhile, the Olay Retinol 24 MAX Night Cream provides an excellent gateway for incorporating retinol into evening skincare regimens without risking harm to your skin's protective barrier. Amazon customers have embraced this moisturiser enthusiastically, with many reporting years of successful usage. One shopper commented: "Love this, I've been using it for years. It keeps skin from developing fine lines into wrinkles." A second user concurred: "This is an excellent cream. The face feels soft after I put it on at night. It's also fast absorbing, which ensures that there is no residue on my pillow when sleeping." A third reviewer noted: "One of the best night creams for combined skin." Beauty deal of the week YSL Black Opium remains an iconic perfume - and we know where to bag the newest edition for its cheapest price. The YSL BLack Opium Le Parfum offers a more vanilla-heavy fragrance that has been hailed as "intoxicating" in reviews, with a 50ml now half-price at Boots after being dropped from £115 to £57.50. Massive saving aside, it's the cheapest it can be bought for at the moment, as rival retailers Superdrug, Lookfantastic and The Perfume Shop still stock it at full-price. This interpretation of the iconic perfume was only launched in 2022, with its original floral gourmand fragrance still offering its famed notes that include pear accord, green mandarin, orange flower petals, jasmine sambac and cinnamon. However, the iconic coffee accord has been twisted with four different, yet still complimentary, notes of vanilla, which is said to be its most important ingredient, to create an "unexpected smoothness, with uncompromising intensity." Meanwhile, the unique glossy bottle that has been crafted from a precious black stone, with its dazzling glitter emblem at the heart, eludes to the luxuriousness of the fragrance contained within. As for the YSL Black Opium Le Parfum, Boots shoppers wanting to take advantage of the half-price discount will be glad to hear it has amassed a 4.7 rating from thousands of customers who say it "lasts all day" and "literally turns heads" when it is worn. One five-star review read: "I love the fragrance. I used a lot the first time, not realising how intense it was. It lasts all day and continues to smell great. I literally turn heads when I wear it." Don't miss Boots' half-price discount on the YSL Black Opium Le Parfum (50ml) that is now £57.50, down from £115. However, some customers found it underwhelming, with one stating: "Not really that impressed, find no difference and it leaves my skin a bit dry." Another customer shared similar sentiments: "Seems a good cream but I'm not sure it's great for a more mature skin. It absorbs well but, for me, not very moisturising." Others were enamoured with the product, however. One five-star reviewer commented: "Wonderful night cream. Feels silky and easily and quickly absorbed into skin. Helps to keep my skin hydrated. Good price." Another satisfied customer remarked: "Lovely. Moisturising with a silky feel. My skin looks fresh and clear."

Mother-of-one reveals the secret to losing a whopping 100lbs in just one year WITHOUT weight-loss jabs
A mother-of-one has revealed how she lost almost 100lbs—seven stone—in less than a year, by sticking to a simple exercise and diet plan. Millions of people now rely on weight loss jabs such as Mounjaro and Wegovy to help them slim down—yet Lucy Weller credits walking 10,000 steps a day and regular weight training sessions with helping her reach her goal. This was coupled with a calorie-controlled diet, high in protein and fibre. In a video shared to TikTok via her page, @lucy52915, which has racked up more than 750,000 views, she revealed pictures of her gradually shedding the pounds. After posting the video, she received over a thousand comments from other social media users amazed by her final transformation. One commentator said: 'Wow! You look unrecognisable, well done. It's so lovely to see it's been done in a healthy way and not on Mounjaro.' Meanwhile another commented: 'You can tell this is natural too. No Mounjaro and excuses here. Well done for creating new habits and not cheating. This will set you up for life. A third user added: 'Incredible. You look like a different person. Great work.' Ms Weller revealed in comment on the viral post that she wasn't able to use jabs—having recently given birth. 'Still breastfeeding my child so can't do Mounjaro anyway, but I have health anxiety so would never do it,' she wrote. Instead she committed to weight training four times a week, with two sessions for glutes—the buttock muscles—one for the full body, and one for the upper body. The weight training sessions she praised for her impressive transformation were with @TrainwithAldine, whom she called 'the best coach there ever is'. In a comment replying, the coach said: 'So proud of you!! Hard work and sticking to the planxxx.' While the mother lost the weight naturally, there are a growing number of people turning to weight loss jabs. Last month, GPs in the UK were allowed to prescribe the drugs, collectively known as GLP-1s, for the first time in a bid to tackle the nation's obesity crisis. An estimated 1.5 million people are now using weight loss jabs through the NHS or private clinics, while millions more are eligible. But some experts have raised concerns over potential risks. Recent data revealed that more than 100 deaths in Britain have been linked to slimming injections so far. At least ten patients are confirmed to have died from pancreatitis—a life-threatening inflammation of the pancreas—after taking the jabs. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has since launched an investigation into whether people with certain genes may be more vulnerable to the condition. It also follows recent reports of terrifying mental health side effects after women took the weight loss jab Mounjaro. Some described sudden panic attacks, crippling anxiety and a sensation of 'tugging in the brain' after starting the drug. Other reported symptoms included insomnia, tremors, shortness of breath and tinnitus. Although these are not currently listed as official side effects for any of the three major jabs in the UK, an online support group for users suffering such symptoms has attracted more than 2,800 members. Three members—speaking anonymously to The Times—described the onset of debilitating anxiety, sleeplessness and panic attacks after starting Mounjaro. At the time, the manufacturers of Mounjaro, Eli Lilly, and of both Ozempic and Wegovy, Novo Nordisk told The Times patient safety was their top priority. 'We take any reports about patient safety seriously and actively monitor, evaluate and report safety information for all our medicines,' said Eli Lilly. With Novo Nordisk adding it welcomes: 'Independent research investigating the safety, efficacy and clinical utility of our products.'
