'We work hard. We worked hard ever since we were little. It's been our goal since we were kids. Just make it to Rupp Arena and play in a state championship game,' senior guard Titus Boyd said. 'But it means a lot to us. We're a hardworking group, and we're going to remember this for years to come.'

It's been a first season to remember for head coach Shaun Busick. The Indiana native spent three decades coaching in the Hoosier state but made the switch to the Bluegrass in the spring of 2024. So far, Busick has led the Warriors to a 29-3 record and a first-ever 12th Region championship.
'I think the squad's priorities were right. We put God and family first; we put academics second. We put basketball where it belonged in third place,' Busick said. 'I think just that and having great chemistry, a great group of young men.'
This time last year, Lyon County had already cut down the nets for its state championship win, but due to Lexington being a host site for the first two rounds of the 2025 NCAA men's tournament, the Sweet 16 was moved back a week. According to Coach Busick, the team has used the time off to their advantage.
'Everybody's feeling pretty good, and we took some time off after we won the region,' Busick said. 'So, I think it's really been helpful for us. We've been really fresh going into this last week, a week and a half of practice.'

How Steph Curry is preparing for Warriors season despite roster 'uncertainty' originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area The Warriors are the only team in the NBA who haven't made an offseason move leading up to the 82-game slate in 2025-26. But Golden State superstar guard Steph Curry isn't worried. At his Curry Camp on Thursday, the 11-time NBA All-Star detailed to reporters where his confidence in the Warriors comes from, particularly before training camp starts in late September. 'It's different, for sure,' Curry prefaced about Golden State's move-less offseason. 'But … my confidence is built on the identity that we were able to create over the last third of the regular season last year (and) the playoff journey. We have a really good team, and we do know we need some pieces to help get us to the next level. 'I think the veteran presence that we have — with me, Jimmy [Butler], Draymond [Green] – like, we understand how to prepare through that uncertainty and be able to hit the ground running in training camp, knowing we should have some movement by then.' Curry, a four-time NBA champion and 17-year veteran with his Warriors, isn't writing off the campaign before it even starts. And unlike those fairly critical of Golden State's current makeup, Curry is choosing to remember just how good the Warriors were after acquiring Butler right before the 2025 NBA trade deadline — they had a 23-7 regular-season record with Butler on the floor. Curry also lightly mentioned the Warriors' promising playoff run, which was cut short after he suffered a Grade 1 hamstring strain that kept him out of the devastating second-round series loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Whether it's the acquisition of veteran center Al Horford, the trading of up-and-coming forward Jonathan Kuminga or something else up Golden State's sleeve, Curry isn't losing any sleep over the Warriors' current roster. After all, he isn't the one making decisions. 'But, you control what you can control,' Curry said. And no matter how many new experiences you have or whatever the difference is from this offseason to the previous ones, you don't let it affect your own personal preparation for the season and then the conversations that we're having on what we need to do to get ready.' Golden State Warriors jersey history - No. 20 - Larry Hughes (2000-02)
The Golden State Warriors have had over 600 players don the more than 60 jersey numbers used by their players over the more than 75 years of existence the team has enjoyed in its rich and storied history. Founded in 1946 during the Basketball Association of America (BAA -- a precursor league of the NBA) era, the team has called home the cities of Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland, and even San Diego. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Warriors Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. For this article, we begin with the 19th of 29 players who wore the No. 20 jersey for the Warriors. That player would be Golden State wing alum Larry Hughes. After ending his college career at St. Louis, Hughes was picked up with the eighth overall selection of the 1998 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. The St. Louis native was dealt to the Dubs in his second season, early in 2000. His stay with the team would span parts of three seasons, coming to an end when he signed with the Washington Wizards in 2002. During his time suiting up for the Warriors, Hughes wore only jersey No. 20 and put up 15.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.7 assists per game.
