Time to move on from South Africa's WTC win, says Rabada
Rabada will lead South Africa's attack as they take on Australia in three T20s and ODIs starting in Darwin on Sunday.
'It was special and I've done so many interviews on that since,' Rabada said of South Africa's victory over Australia at Lord's in June.
'It's time to move on. I don't think we'll forget about that ever as a team and South Africa won't ever [forget], but time to move on now,' he told a press conference on Thursday.
The five-wicket win in the WTC final followed several frustrating near misses for South Africa in limited-overs World Cups.
'It was a relief, but the show moves on and moving towards the T20 World Cup, the approach will be a bit different. Now there's no fear of anything.'
Rabada is relishing a reprisal of the rivalry between Australia and South Africa.
'It's always hard cricket being played, good cricket,' he said. 'Whenever we play Australia, I feel they get the best out of us because they're in our faces and we like that.'
Rababa, who turned 30 in May, has not played since the WTC final in London.
'I've had quite a long break so that's been awesome. Maintenance work consistently has to be done because the volume of cricket is quite a bit.'
The Australia tour comes before next year's T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka and the 2027 World Cup in Southern Africa, and South Africa hope the experience will benefit the young players in their squad.
'For me that's exciting to see them raring to go. It's about trying to see where we're at as a team, moving into almost like another generation,' Rabada added.

A 15-member national squad was announced on Monday for an upcoming tour of New Zealand and Australia. With the sport facing controversy behind the scenes, Netball South Africa (NSA) acting president Mami Diale insists the players are not being affected as the national team gears up for two big series against the world's top-ranked sides over the next few months. In April, NSA president Cecilia Molokwane was suspended by World Netball, and though she was still indifinitely sidelined, it remained unclear why she was temporarily removed from her post. We had a successful Telkom Netball League and a successful national championships where we had a lot of players who participated, along with our associate members, which is the schools,' Diale said. 'We are planning now for the (national) men's championships that will be happening from 31 August until 6 September, we have coaching workshops running throughout the country, and we have a partnership with Zimbabwe where we have committed as Netball South Africa to do development. 'So everything is running smoothly… and we are moving on, forwards and upwards.' Proteas gear up for tour Down Under Meanwhile, Proteas head coach Jenny van Dyk was eager to use the six Tests against New Zealand and Australia in September and October to prepare for next year's Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. 'This is a very important series for us to see exactly where we are at, playing against number one and two (Australia and New Zealand),' Van Dyk said after a 15-member national squad was announced for the tour Down Under. 'It's instrumental for us and I think the information we will get out of these six Test matches will definitely help us pinpoint all the work we need to get done with the Commonwealth Games in mind, leading into the (2027) World Cup.' Morne van den Berg could consider himself unlucky to miss out, given the Lions player's standout performances in back-to-back Tests against Italy in the recent Incoming Series. The Boks also boast the talents and vast experience of Faf de Klerk and Williams' Sharks teammate, Jaden Hendrikse. Williams impressed in the second Test against Italy, combining well with flyhalf Manie Libbok, having recovered from a neck injury. They will again renew their burgeoning half-back partnership in a very attacking backline on Saturday. Damian Willemse will provide flyhalf cover. Asked whether he felt he was now in a position to make the Springbok No 9 jersey his own, Williams was diplomatic. 'We have a really good squad – Cobus, Morne, Faf, and Jaden as well. I think selection is just about how we want to play in the week. I can't really say that I want to make the No 9 jersey mine, but I would like to compete,' said Williams. Coach Rassie Erasmus reiterated that the jersey was a 'shared one'. 'I think we're really trying to build a culture where it's all three's jersey and hopefully just in the World Cup quarter-final, semi-final, and final we'll pick the best nine in form,' Williams said. 'Faf is not at all out of the picture and Jaden is not out of the picture. We know we normally carry four nines but, just for the sake of repetition and getting some one-on-one intel into players, we cut the squad a little bit. 'We know if you don't go four positions deep, maybe suddenly in one game you get two injuries in one position. So, they're competing and they don't want to just give the jersey away, but they also understand that we will rotate. He (Williams) got the nod in a very important match. The way we want to play in this game, we feel he is the best option there. But I think this squad has accepted now that we have to share jerseys and not say this guy is out-and-out the best.' Springboks move captain Kolisi to No 8 for Australia opener
JOHANNESBURG - South Africa captain Siya Kolisi will start at No 8 for the first time in a Test when they begin their Rugby Championship defence in Johannesburg on Saturday against Australia. The 34-year-old double Rugby World Cup winner, who makes his 94th Test appearance, is usually to be found on the flank but has operated in the position for his franchise, the Durban-based Sharks. He will do it for the first time for the Boks largely because the other leading contenders are all unavailable. Regular No 8 Jasper Wiese is serving a four-match ban after head-butting a rival in a warm-up victory over Italy last month. Other options Elrigh Louw and Cameron Hanekom suffered serious pre-Springbok season injuries and are unlikely to be available this year. Moving Kolisi means flanker Marco van Staden comes into the starting line-up with reigning World Rugby Player of the Year Pieter-Steph du Toit completing the back row. Edwill van der Merwe, who has scored five tries in three Tests, replaces Kolbe on the right wing while Andre Esterhuizen fills in for De Allende at inside centre. "Cheslin has recovered from a niggle and trained with us last week, but we decided to exercise caution and give him extra time at training before selecting him," said Erasmus. "Damian picked up a back niggle and will train this week, but Andre has been strong for us in the last few seasons, so it was an easy decision to name him alongside Jesse (Kriel)." Australia flew to Johannesburg after a 2-1 series loss to the British and Irish Lions. The Wallabies want to snap a four-match losing streak against South Africa and will name their team on Thursday.
