Dirt bike rider assaulted with shovel along Burlington trail: police
Halton Regional Police say the incident occurred at around 5 p.m. on June 22 on a rural property near Cedar Springs Road and Grand Boulevard.
According to police, a young male was riding his dirt bike in the area when he observed an unknown male at the side of the trail.
'As the victim slowed to pass he was struck in the arm by a shovel and tackled by the male suspect causing the victim to fall to the ground,' police said in a news release issued Monday.
The verbal argument ensued and the suspect took off on a blue dirt bike, police said.
The victim was not physically injured.
The suspect has been described by police as a white male with a brown moustache who was dressed in dark clothing and wearing a baseball cap.
Police said the area is 'known to be frequented by dirt bike riders,' and investigators are asking anyone who may be able to identify the suspect to contact Const. Chase Gourley, of 3 District Burlington, at Chase.gourley@haltonpolice.ca.

On July 10, police officers noticed a red Nissan Qashqai travelling at a high speed in the area of Woodbine Avenue and Riverglen Drive, in the town of Georgina. In released footage, the vehicle is seen driving in the opposite direction of traffic. When officers turned around to try and conduct a traffic stop, the suspect allegedly sped off at a high rate of speed. On July 17, the same vehicle was spotted at Woodbine Avenue and Boyers Road and authorities recognized it from the earlier incident on July 10, police say. The York Regional Police Air Support Unit was dispatched and helped follow the vehicle as it fled southbound on Highway 404 and exited at Highway 7 in the City of Richmond Hill. In the aerial footage, the suspect is seen running several red lights and driving on the wrong side of the road. Police said that officers used a tire deflation device but the suspect continued travelling on all four rims into Aurora. In the footage released by police, the vehicle can be seen slowly driving in the wrong direction after its tires had been punctured. 'Get ready for a bailout,' one officer is heard saying to the officers on the ground. Moments later, police are seen boxing in the vehicle against a guardrail and taking the driver into custody. Police said in a news release that 'in the interest of public safety, officers made intentional contact to stop the vehicle.' Dakota Drury, 21, of North Bay, is now facing 15 charges, including a firearms-related offence and a charge for operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs.

Man arrested for alleged armed robbery at Charlottetown pizzeria
A Charlottetown Police Services sign is pictured in this file photo. Police in P.E.I. arrested a 24-year-old for allegedly robbing a Charlottetown pizzeria while wielding a large knife in May. Police say a masked man allegedly entered Jack's Pizza on 330 University Ave. on May 30 and wielded the knife at an employee before stealing cash from the register. There were no reported injuries. Police conducted an investigation and after reviewing security footage, they charged the unnamed suspect with armed robbery. The man was also charged with wearing a mask with the intent to commit an indictable offence. Police say the man was charged with assault with a weapon for an unrelated matter. Police say just after midnight on July 28, an armed person approached a person in the parking lot of the GO station on Bayly Street, near Liverpool Road. That individual was walking to their car when they were stabbed, police said. The suspect fled northbound before officers arrived. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police describe the suspect as a white male who was last seen wearing a black sweater and red pants.
