Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 hands-on
The Galaxy Z Flip7 is undoubtedly the best Flip ever made, but it also has a solid claim to be the best flip-style foldable too.
And it starts with the new cover screen. Not only is it bigger at 4.1 inches, up from 3.4 inches, but it's 40% brighter at 2,600 nits, and refreshes twice as fast at 120Hz. Samsung achieved the screen expansion by cutting down the bezels to a uniform 1.25mm, which the company claims is the thinnest ever on a Galaxy smartphone.
A much bigger cover screen
The Galaxy Z Flip7 packs a larger 4,300mAh battery than its predecessor's 4,000mAh, though charging is stuck at 25W wired and 15W wireless, sigh.
The Z Flip7 weighs about the same as its predecessor, but is noticeably thinner. It's 6.5mm (vs 6.9mm) when unfolded and 13.7mm (vs 14.9mm) when folded. The new phone has the same IP48 water and dust resistance.
We can't really say we noticed the extra thinness of the Galaxy Z Flip7, but the increase in width from 71.9mm to 75.2mm is noticeable.
The phone's frame is the same Armor Aluminum as its predecessor's, but the Z Flip7 uses a restructured, thinner Armor FlexHinge. The outer glass is the same Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
The new hinge
That Victus 2 glass is frosted on the back panel and matches the matte frame of the phone in color. We find the Galaxy Z Flip7 to be an easy-to-handle device. It doesn't slip under your fingers.
Still, Samsung has made a selection of two-piece cases for the Galaxy Z Flip7 (and Z Fold7), ranging in materials and finishes.
New cases Pricing and availability
Both the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 are available for pre-order starting today. General availability will begin on July 25.
The Galaxy Z Fold7 ships in Blue Shadow, Jetblack, and Silver Shadow, while the Galaxy Z Flip7 is available in Blue Shadow, Jetblack, and Coral-red. However, both come in an online-exclusive Mint (pictured here).
The Galaxy Z Fold7 is available in 12/256GB, 12/512GB, and 16GB/1TB configurations, priced $2,000/£1,800/€2,100, $2,120/£1,900/€2,220, and $2,420/£12,100/€2,520, respectively. The Galaxy Z Flip7 is available in 12/256GB and 12/512GB, priced $1,100/£1,050/€1,200 and $1,220/£1,150/€1,320, respectively.

Smartphone batteries are finally getting the upgrades we deserve
Battery life still remains a nuisance in the smartphone industry for heavy users, even with newer phones that have denser and higher capacities packed in their chassis. Fortunately, it seems that smartphone batteries are finally about to get the upgrades that we all deserve. According to supply chain reports ( translated source ), the current state of dense silicon batteries isn't the limit, if companies play their cards right. By the end of this year, 7,000 mAh batteries will become a lot more common, and it's only going to go up from the next year and onward. Current silicon battery limits are forcing research teams to experiment with new materials and shapes. This is going to make it possible for standard phones to feature batteries even larger than 8,000 mAh. Using new shapes and steel shells ( for structural support ), it is quite likely that we're not too far off from a normal consumer-grade smartphone that has a 10,000 mAh battery. The new Honor Power already has a battery capacity of 8,000 mAh, and the Honor X70 will feature an 8,300 mAh battery while measuring in at only 7.7-7.9 mm. Honor Power comes with an 8,000 mAh battery. | Image credit — Honor It truly feels like silicon batteries have finally made significant advancements in battery capacities a reality. Now all that's left is for Samsung, Apple, and Google to adopt these new batteries into their flagship offerings are certain regulatory limitations due to which these companies haven't been able to keep pace with their Chinese rivals. However, Samsung and Apple are reportedly researching on these batteries at this time, and I'm hopeful that we'll see the fruits of their labor sooner rather than later. The newly released Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, while an absolutely stunning phone, does have the downside of using the same battery as the Galaxy Z Fold 6: a 4,400 mAh pack. While the Fold 7 battery is pretty good in other important aspects, I wouldn't mind seeing a bigger battery in the future. Fingers crossed that Samsung and Apple's ongoing research leads to silicon batteries with higher capacities but the same durability as their previous Li-ion batteries. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 in for review
Ivan, 12 July 2025 Hey there, Galaxy Z Flip7! Samsung's latest flip-foldable may fly under the radar that is the Galaxy Z Fold7, but we're willing to bet that this one is going to be more popular. Nothing's changed with the retail package - you get the phone, a SIM tool, and a USB-C cable. The Flip7 comes in two versions - 12/256GB and 12/512GB. You get a choice of Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red, and the online exclusive Mint. The biggest upgrade with this generation of Galaxy Z Flip is the cover screen. It now stretches from end to end to reach 4.1 inches - a big jump from 3.4 inches. Samsung shrunk the bezels and made the phone ever-so-slightly wider and taller to accommodate the new screen. Still, the Galaxy Z Flip7 measures 13.7mm closed, and 6.5mm when opened, compared to 14.9mm/6.9mm on its predecessor. The inner display also got a notable jump in size - from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches. It's noticeable. Back to the cover screen. It's smarter, too. By default, the Z Flip7's cover screen is like a big Galaxy Watch - you get widgets and not fully-featured apps. But you can force the phone to let you use all your apps on the screen - go to Samsung Labs, enable all apps on the cover screen, and then download a Galaxy Store app called MultiStar. Non-optimized apps don't use the entire cover screen, but it's worth it just to have them available! Still, Samsung lags behind Motorola in terms of cover screen functionality - The razr 60 Ultra can allow any app on its outer screen, no hacking needed! Anyway, we're trying our best to give you reviews of all the phones we have at the office but it will take some time! Kindly, be patient!
