Josh Hutcherson Wields Mask Mechanic in ‘Five Nights at Freddy's 2' Trailer

Yahoo24-07-2025
The fight for survival continues in Five Nights at Freddy's 2. The sequel, based on the popular video game, hits theaters on Dec. 5 with Josh Hutcherson returning as Mike Schmidt in the aftermath of a brutal supernatural showdown in the first film. In the latest Five Nights at Freddy's 2 trailer, Mike is a little more prepared, but there are only so many ways to get ready for a battle with possessed animatronics.
The film picks up one year after the events at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza in 2023's Five Nights at Freddy's. 'The stories about what transpired there have been twisted into a campy local legend, inspiring the town's first-ever Fazfest,' a brief synopsis of the film reads. Vanessa Shelly (Elizabeth Lail) also returns, seemingly recovered from the coma she ended up in at the end of the previous film. Meanwhile, Mike's younger sister, Abby (Piper Rubio), still hasn't learned the truth about her unusual friends.

'Five Nights at Freddy's' Should Be So Much More Fun Than It Is
More lore from the video game seeps into the film as Mike wields the Freddy Mask, a mechanic that deters the animatronics. 'There's no way that'll work,' he says in the clip before picking it up anyway. It's his only shot, and he can't afford to miss it. 'Anyone can survive five nights,' the tagline for the movie reads. 'This time, there will be no second chances.'
Five Nights at Freddy's 2 will also star Theodus Crane, Matthew Lillard, Freddy Carter, Wayne Knight, McKenna Grace, and Skeet Ulrich. Emma Tammi will direct.
'As a narrative that pretends to plumb the dark absence of missing children, however, Five Nights at Freddy's is curiously inert, unwilling to get under your skin even as it grows dense with explanations of what's happening,' Rolling Stone wrote in a review of Five Nights at Freddy's. 'It's unfair to compare the menacing robot bear to Freddy Krueger, the iconic kid-killer who shares his name.'

'The T': University of Tennessee students, parents, alumni will love this free newsletter

Below is Knox News' format for "The T," a free weekly newsletter all about the University of Tennessee at Knoxville launching Aug. 19. UT is home wherever you go. Keep up with campus and the Vols you love by signing up at Welcome to The T! Or rather, an example of what my Knox News newsletter all about the University of Tennessee at Knoxville will look like when it hits inboxes on Tuesdays. My name is Keenan Thomas, higher education reporter for Knox News, and I've spent the past three years understanding the ins and outs of the state's flagship campus to share stories about the many ways UT is constantly evolving. This opening section, which you'll be greeted by every Tuesday, could cover anything I'm seeing on and around campus, from my recent reporting on new dorms and dining options to tips for tackling football season and getting the most out of campus as a student, parent or alumnus. After a few opening paragraphs, I'll spotlight some interesting folks and exciting events on campus. Student media highlight: This section will focus on the important work created by students for Ablaze, The Daily Beacon, Land Grant Films and other publications. The Daily Beacon's Caden Dyer, editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, recently wrote about the transition back to civilian life by UT student and military veteran Kevin Ho. 'I had never really anticipated myself being successful in a school environment again, primarily based off of the experience I had in high school,' Ho told The Daily Beacon. 'But those skills I got in the military transferred over to higher ed.' Important dates and upcoming events: Whether it's Torch Night on Aug. 17, the first day of classes on Aug. 18, the first football game at Neyland Stadium on Sept. 6 or an important application deadline for parents or students, this is the section where I'll share what's coming up soon for UT. Alumni or faculty spotlight: This section will put the spotlight on a UT alum or a faculty member running their corner of UT. Dr. Amber Williams is doing transformational work in the Division for Student Success, for example, and you can read my my profile about her UT journey at There will be a call to action at the end of each newsletter for you, the reader, to nominate an alumni to be considered for the newsletter and to share your UT story ideas. If you want to get started, send me an email at Thanks for reading! Keenan Thomas reports on higher education for the Knox News business growth and development team. Iconic "Poltergeist" house available for rent in Southern California

The home where the horror film "Poltergeist" took place is available for rent in Southern California, and has been completely redesigned to mimic the set from the 1982 cult classic, where visitors are advised to "Stay away from the light!" The four-bedroom home, located on Roxbury Street in Simi Valley, gives renters the chance to relive the spooky — and potentially traumatizing — experience they felt upon watching the movie for the first time, right down to the Freeling family's iconic television set and living room setup. According to the booking website, the property is nearly 2,400-square-feet and also features multiple bathrooms, a large swimming pool, a fire pit and a spa. "It's spooky yet cozy. Cinematic magic, family-friendly fun, legendary vibes, and good memories," the website says. "It's perfect for families, fans, and brave travelers alike. Come for the legend. Leave with your own story." Despite the home's sinister association, property owners say that ghost hunting and séances are not allowed. "No Ouija boards, rituals, or spiritual summoning. A cleansing fee will be applied (seriously)," the website says. Reservations start at $600 a night and can sleep up to eight people and pets for those brave enough to book a stay. One can only hope they're not woken by rattling walls, TV static and a child shouting, "They're here!" Last year, the property was listed for sale for the first time in more than four decades. It sold for $1.28 million.
