Sydney Sweeney bought everyone tequila shots at NYC bar party with friends, 'source' claims
Sydney Sweeney recently had the best time during a fun night out with her friends in New York City. Page Six exclusively learned from a spy that the 27-year-old actor brought the 'main character energy' to Ray's Bar on the Lower East Side on Saturday. Sweeney, dressed in a casual brown leather jacket, was reportedly sitting at a VIP booth with her friends during the outing.
The source said she was 'holding court' in the back corner of the dive bar. It also appears Sweeney ensured everyone was having a good time. The 'Euphoria' star reportedly bought the entire bar a round of tequila shots. She also led a 'full-bar sing-along' to Natasha Bedingfield's song 'Unwritten.' The hit track was one of the highlights in Sweeney's 2023 rom-com 'Anyone but You' with Glen Powell.
Moreover, Sweeney held the room's attention when the bartender told the crowd she was buying everyone free drinks. They said, 'Sydney Sweeney decided you're not having enough fun so she bought shots for the bar.' Meanwhile, the blonde bombshell has been catching eyes since parting ways with her former fiancé, Jonathan Davino, earlier this year.
Sydney Sweeney's latest night out came weeks after she was seen hanging out with Tom Brady and Orlando Bloom at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's high-profile wedding.

Doja Cat Mocked Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle Ad

In the past few days, you've probably seen a lot of conversation online about Sydney Sweeney's new American Eagle adverts. But if you need to catch up, then here's a quick explanation. Sydney is the face of American Eagle's latest denim ad campaign, which centers around the tagline: 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,' as a play on 'great genes.' There are a ton of pictures and clips you can still find on AE's socials, but I'll tell you about the ones getting the most backlash... So, in one clip, the camera zooms in on Sydney's chest. She says, 'My body's composition is determined by my genes,' before playfully reminding the camera that her eyes are 'up here.' In another video, the camera tracks Sydney's body as she lies on the ground with her shirt unbuttoned, pulling her jeans on. 'Genes are passed down from parent to offspring, often determining traits like eye color, personality, and even hair color,' she says, before looking to the camera and adding, 'My jeans are blue.' These two videos now appear to have been removed from AE's socials after they were met with a lot of criticism for a number of different reasons. Many took issue with the hypersexualized nature of the ads, while others called out the way the clip of her pulling her jeans on seemingly pays homage to an extremely controversial 1980 Calvin Klein ad starring a then-15-year-old Brooke Shields. On top of that, there's been a whole lot of backlash to all the emphasis on Sydney's 'great genes' as a blonde, blue-eyed, white woman. For context, phrases like 'good genes' and 'great genes' have historically been used in the language of eugenicists, who believe that the genetic quality of the human population could be improved by selective breeding. I don't know about you, but my TikTok is filled with people impersonating Sydney's cursive voice. And now, Doja Cat has joined in on the trend. In the comments, one person wrote: 'u know its bad when even doja makes fun of it 😭,' while someone else added: 'my jeans are damp cuz i just peed my pants.' 'Imagine if Sydney Sweeney and doja ever HAVE to work together? That would be funny,' added another user. We can always count on Doja for some silliness. LMK your thoughts on this whole thing in the comments below.

Sydney Sweeney Is Facing A Backlash Over Her New American Eagle Campaign. Here's What People Are Saying

Sydney Sweeney's new collaboration with the fashion brand American Eagle has become the centre of a whole lot of debate. The Euphoria star unveiled a new campaign with the American clothing brand last week, to promote their line of denim last week. However, it didn't take long before social media clips to promote the deal sparked a wave of discomfort among many critics, largely due to some of the language that's used in the campaign. This is the story so far… What is Sydney Sweeney's new ad campaign for American Eagle all about? For American Eagle's autumn 2025 campaign, Sydney Sweeney can be seen sporting items from the brand's denim range, including a new pair of jeans inspired by her. The campaign also makes use of the slogan 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans', a pun on the term 'great genes'. In another, she explains: 'Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair colour, personality and even eye colour.' 'My jeans are blue,' she then quips, at which point a narrator delivers the line: 'Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.' Why are some people upset about Sydney Sweeney's new ads for American Eagle? Unfortunately this repeated use of the slogan 'great jeans', a pun on 'great genes', has put some viewers in mind of the language used by white supremacists and eugenicists. By centring a blonde, white star in a campaign referencing 'genes', some critics are accusing the brand of tone-deafness at best – particularly in the current political climate – and deliberately pushing a white supremacist agenda at worst. HuffPost UK has contacted representatives for both Sydney Sweeney and American Eagle for comment. Others are pointing out that Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle campaign doesn't mention one other important aspect of the product American Eagle's new 'Sydney Jean' features a butterfly detail on its back pocket, in a nod to domestic violence awareness, a cause which the White Lotus star has championed throughout her career. In fact, an American Eagle press release confirmed that '100% of the purchase price from 'The Sydney Jean' will be donated to Crisis Text Line', a charity in the US which aims to help those affected by domestic violence. However, the ads are also being criticised for not highlighting this key part of the campaign, with some saying its accompanying slogan is even more jarring as a result. Has Sydney Sweeney or American Eagle said anything about the controversy?
