A city court has extended the police custody of two accused by three more days, in the murder case of Kanchan Kumari, popularly known as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi.
Earlier, the Bathinda Police had secured two-day custody of the two accused -- Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh. Both men, belonging to Nihangs sect, an order in Sikhism identified with distinct blue robes and turbans -- were produced in the city court today, after expiry of two-day police remand.
With the accused being resent into three-day police custody, the cops will interrogate the duo and seek to extract information about their third associate and the main conspirator -- Amritpal Singh Mehron, who still remains at large.
Mehron, believed to be the main suspect accused in Kamal Kaur Bhabhi murder case has been absconding after committing the grave offence and is currently said to be hiding in Dubai.
The murder case of social media influencer gained widespread attention after the body of Kanchan Kumari alias Kamal Kaur Bhabhi was found inside a car in the parking lot, three days ago. The two accused -- Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh were arrested after the body of influencer was recovered from the car.
Kamal Kaur Bhabhi was targeted by three Nihangs, for allegedly hurting the sentiments of Sikh community. According to police, the key mastermind Amritpal Singh Mehron plotted a plan to entrap and isolate the social media influencer and then killed her by strangulating inside the car, along with two of his associates - who were subsequently apprehended by the Bathinda police.
Mehron has also released a video on social media, claiming responsibility for the act. In the now-viral video, Mehron alleges that the influencer brought bad name to Sikh tradition with her 'obscene and vulgar' content and hence was punished.
In the video, he is also heard warning other content creators and vloggers on social media to desist from defiling their religious gurus else they all will meet the same fate as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi.
'Our Gurus have given us the surnames of 'Singh' and 'Kaur' and we cannot allow women from other states to suffix the title of Kaur. Khalsa never attacks women, but when a woman targets our Takhts and mocks Sikh values, we won't spare them," he is heard saying in the video.

Within hours of killing Ludhiana influencer, Mehron fled to UAE: Police
A religious vigilante and radical Sikh leader, Amritpal Singh Mehron, the main conspirator in the alleged murder of social media influencer Kanchan Kumari, 30, popularly known as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi, has flown out of the country. Bathinda senior superintendent of police Amneet Kondal told reporters on Sunday that within hours of committing the crime, Mehron boarded a flight from Amritsar at 9.15 am to the UAE on June 10. She said the police department was not informed about which airline he boarded and the destination airport in the Gulf country. A lookout circular was issued against Mehron, a Nihang, on Saturday, after which the investigators learnt that the conspirator had already left the country. The SSP stated that the police administration would write to the relevant authorities to facilitate Mehron's deportation back to India as he is wanted in a murder case. 'Custodial interrogation of two accused, Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh, both also Nihangs, revealed that Mehron not only conspired in the murder, but also he was present at the crime spot and he too had strangled Kanchan to death,' said the SSP. The arrested accused said they killed Kanchan for uploading immoral content 'that hurt the community's sentiments', said the police. Kondal said that the investigation revealed that Mehron had meticulously planned the murder as part of his 'unauthorised moral policing' that, within hours of killing the woman in Bathinda, he boarded the flight from Amritsar. 'Our team has also learnt about the involvement of two persons in the crime, including one Ranjit Singh, while the identity of the other is yet to be ascertained. Custodial questioning of the two accused revealed that Mehron forcibly snatched two mobile phones and the passwords from Kanchan before she was done to death in her car,' added the SSP. Investigators said that it has also come to light that after killing Kanchan on the intervening night of June 9 and 10, Nimratjit and Jaspreet visited the parking lot of Adesh medical colleges and hospital at Bhucho town in Bathinda twice. 'Interrogation revealed that the accused left the car with Kanchan's body in it at 2 am on June 10. Later, they realized that a waistband used to strangle was left at the crime scene and Mehron instructed them to get the crucial piece of evidence back. They again went to the parking lot and took the car out of it, took away the waistband and abandoned the car in the lot again,' said the SSP. As per the police, Mehron had approached Kanchan last week on the pretext of a business promotion event in Bathinda and getting her car repaired at a garage as a part of the deal, inviting her to Bathinda to attend a paid promotion event, the SSP said. She left her house in Ludhiana at 3.30pm on June 9 with Jaspreet and Nimratjit and a few hours later she was strangled with a waistband in her car while Mehron was also part of the crime. A local court on Sunday extended the police remand of the accused Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh by three days.

FIR against Bengal BJP chief for ‘hurling slipper', Sikh leaders seek apology
An FIR has been registered against Union minister and state BJP president Sukanta Majumdar at Kalighat police station in Kolkata for allegedly throwing a slipper at a Sikh official. The FIR, based on a complaint by local Sikh community members, has been lodged under BNS sections 208 (offence of non-attendance in obedience to an order from a public servant) 302 (offence of intentionally hurting religious feelings), 115(2) (deals with the offense of voluntarily causing hurt). Accusing the Union minister of 'deliberate and intentional act', the members of the Sikh community demanded an apology from the BJP leader, saying they were 'deeply hurt and disappointed by the incident'. Majumdar, however, dismissed the charge, saying it was not a slipper, but only a 'slipper-shaped paper' that was used to hit the police, and alleged that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was behind the protest by the Sikh community leaders. The incident reportedly took place on June 12 when BJP leaders led by Majumdar were detained near the Chief Minister's residence in the Kalighat area after they were stopped from visiting violence-hit Mahestala in South 24 Parganas. A purported video of the incident has gone viral on social media. The Sikh community leaders alleged that the BJP was purposely doing selectively against the community, and cited the farm protest in Punjab. Claiming that the incident was an accident, Majumdar said the person on whose head the 'paper-cut' fell was part of his security detail and that he intended to throw the paper at the police. Did he file a complaint, he asked.
