Drake Bell files for divorce from Janet Von Schmeling

Drake Bell has filed for divorce from his wife Janet Von Schmeling - three years after they split. The 39-year-old star is said to have filed a petition to end the marriage in Florida on Thursday (14.08.25). The development comes after Von Schmeling had filed for divorce in Los Angeles back in April 2023, with the date of separation revealed as September 2022. Court documents at the time stated that the actress was seeking legal and physical custody of the couple's four-year-old son Wyatt, while asking for Bell to be granted visitation rights. Janet has since started a relationship with Jim Perez and the couple are expecting their first child together. Drake has suggested that he and his estranged wife now have a strong co-parenting relationship and spoke of the love they have for each other recently. The Drake and Josh star told The Unplanned Podcast with Matt and Abby: "I don't care if I'm angry at my ex-wife. All my son knows that me and his mom love each other. "We're not together, but we love each other. We respect each other and we love him unconditionally. And whenever he's with me, 'His mama loves him, mama's amazing.'" Bell explained that didn't always have a strong relationship with his parents and was desperate to be the best father possible to his son. He said: "We love our parents, but my God, did they teach us how and what not to do as a parent. "I hope that I'm able to recognise certain behaviours and certain things that - I'll just take one thing for example. I feel like my generation or my parents' generation, divorce was rampant, and the kids were used a lot in divorce." The former Nickelodeon star described how he believed that his parents - who divorced when he was five years of age - talking badly of each other was a reflection of himself. Drake said: "Basically, you guys are just telling me that I suck because, if he's got no good qualities and you got no good qualities and you guys hate each other, then what do you dig me for? "I'm literally what you guys hate, you know? And that's being instilled in my brain and creates tension. It's like, 'That's my mom. Stop talking about my mom that way.'"

Blooming good days

Araluen Botanic Park is bright with colour, and the annual tulip display kicks off on August 22. Around 250,000 tulips will bloom for Yates' Springtime at Araluen Tulip Festival, at Araluen Botanic Park in Roleystone. They sit among green lawns, bubbling streams and bushland trails. The festival continues until October 3. New this year is a special evening — Symphony Among the Tulips. It is on September 13 and 14, with host Dolce Ensembles performing symphonic tributes to Queen and Fleetwood Mac, under the stars. A little window into the past … JJ 'Boss' Simons, the founder of the Young Australia League, was drawn to the valley in which Araluen sits in 1902. His idea was to develop a weekend retreat where YAL members could enjoy some outdoor life. As YAL members travelled the world, they were asked to bring back plants for Araluen. The park gardens were developed to sit well with Canadian-style log cabins, water features and pergolas. The YAL has taken over the park with little more than the tracks left by timber cutters during the 1800s but, over more than 20 years, they laid the basis of what we see as Araluen and the park it is today. + The YAL is the oldest youth organisation in Western Australia. Since 1905, it has supported young Australians, from scholarships and financial support to mentorship and social connection. Spring is almost in the air. The WA wildflower season is working its way south, towards the metro area. In preparation, here are the planned events for this year. + Nannup Flower and Garden Festival. Ends tomorrow, August 17, 2025. + Outback Bloom, Mullewa's Wildflower Festival. August 28 to 31, 2025. The Wildflower Show at the Mullewa Town Hall is open daily from 9am to 4pm, but closes on Sunday at 2pm. $5 admission, children under 12, free. + Chittering Spring Festival. August 31 to September 21, 2025. + Ravensthorpe Wildflower Show. September 8 to 20, 2025. + Kings Park Everlasting Festival. September 12 to 29, 2025. + Esperance Wildflower Festival. September 20 to 24, 2025. + Albany Wildflower Show. September 24 to 27, 2025. + Great Southern Bloom Festival, Annual Spring Festival. September 27 to October 26, 2025.

Darius Campbell Danesh' ex-wife remembers him on third anniversary of death

Darius Campbell Danesh' ex-wife, Natasha Henstridge, has paid tribute to the late singer on the third anniversary of his death. The former Pop Idol contestant passed away at the age of 41 in August 2022 after inhaling chloroethane - also known as ethyl chloride - at his Minnesota apartment. Three years on from the tragedy, the 50-year-old Canadian actress - who filed for divorce from the Colourblind hitmaker in 2013, after just over two years of marriage - has admitted she still misses him dearly. Alongside a series of pictures of Darius, including one of the couple posing in front of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, she penned on Instagram on August 11: "Love and light always. Miss you today…. Sending love to the Danesh's and everyone whose life he touched." According to his girlfriend, Darius had been "living with a broken neck" and an undiagnosed heart condition when he died. Lauren Cheek explained that an autopsy revealed that his heart was "twice the size" it should have been and that she believes he used the recreational anaesthetic to alleviate the pain. She told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "Darius was living with this heart condition that he didn't know he had. So many things could have taken him, but this one thing did, and he died in his sleep. "His mum told me they only found out after they did the autopsy. His heart was twice the size it was supposed to be, which was fitting, because that is genuinely how he was — he had so much love. "The autopsy also found he was living with a broken neck, but he refused to get help or complain about it. I think he used (chloroethane) because he was in so much pain and he didn't want to take pills, not even aspirin. That's what killed him — the substance mixed with his heart and he couldn't take it." Lauren went on to add that Darius - who shot to fame when he gave a memorable rendition of Britney Spears' hit '...Baby One More Time' on the ITV talent show Popstars before releasing a string of hit singles and eventually going on to star in the West End - had sustained his injuries whilst racing with Hollywood actor Gerard Butler and always "refused" when she urged him to see a doctor. She added: "He was with Gerry (Butler) in Monaco for the Grand Prix and they slammed into a wall during a race with the Prince of Monaco. I don't think it ever fully healed and then he rebroke it because he got hit by a car in London a year or two before he died when he was riding a bike. "And then he got into a car accident with his dad in Scotland. D was in the passenger seat, his dad was driving and someone drove into them. "He was always in pain and I would beg him to see the doctor, but he refused. He was trying to find a natural remedy.'
