Aizawl: The Guwahati-based North East Petroleum Mazdoor Union (NEPMU) has decided to restart oil transportation to Mizoram from Friday, following a direct request from the state govt, Mizoram home minister K Sapdanga said on Thursday.
Sapdanga provided an update on the current fuel supply, stating that as of Thursday morning, 46 oil transporters were en route to Mizoram, carrying 3,60,600 litres of diesel and 2,73,000 litres of petrol. Additionally, trucks laden with 8,004 cylinders of cooking gas were also entering the state.
"The transporters likely reconsidered their decision to suspend operations after witnessing the Mizoram government's commitment to the ongoing repairs of National Highway-306," Sapdanga said.
He also expressed gratitude to the Zoram Drivers' Union, the Truck Drivers' Association and the Oil Tankers' Drivers' Association for not supporting the strike planned by the Guwahati-based transporters.
Meanwhile, Mizoram PWD minister Vanlalhlana on Thursday said the ongoing repair work on NH-6, particularly the stretch from Sairang to Buichali and Kawnpui, was progressing steadily. Vanlalhlana himself was inspecting the repair works, accompanied by sports & youth services minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, MLA Lalchhuanthanga and other PWD officials, including engineer-in-chief H Zoramliana and chief engineer (roads) David Sapzova.

They were overseeing the work alongside local residents of Kawnpui and Khamrang.
The Minister emphasized that these highways were crucial for the state's economic lifeline and their delayed repairs have caused significant difficulties for the public.
The repair work on NH-6 has been divided into three sections: section 1 from Sairang to Buichali, section 2 from Khamrang to Kawnpui-Aizawl, and section 3 from Kawnpui to Aizawl.
BR Goyal Infrastructure, operating under the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), is managing the repairs, with close coordination from the Mizoram PWD.
In recent days, PWD engineers, including Eddie C.Zothansanga, Superintending Engineer, Highway Circle-I, Executive Engineers, and Junior Engineers, have been actively monitoring the repairs on the ground. The road works are essential, as previously, sections of the highway had fallen into disrepair, causing severe disruptions.
Authorities also reported a recent operation to clear large boulders, involving 152 trips, and the deployment of towing trucks to clear vehicles stuck in difficult portions of the road. Despite the ongoing challenges posed by the road conditions, authorities have stressed that repairs are progressing well and are expected to be completed soon, alleviating the supply chain issues.

Anand Auto buys Delhi Bungalow for Rs 195 crore

Auto component maker Anand Automotive has purchased a bungalow spanning 1,550 square yards in New Delhi's upscale Kautilya Marg area for '195 crore, in one of the costliest property deals this year. The company paid '13.65 crore towards stamp duty, taking the total transaction value to nearly '210 crore. Anand group did not respond to an email query. Earlier, Anurag Jain, managing director of Endurance Technologies , bought a 1,350 sq yd bungalow at Kautilya Marg for '130 crore. Endurance is among India's leading auto parts makers. Aakash Chaudhry, co-promoter and managing director of Aakash Educational Services, had also bought a bungalow in Kautilya Marg for '137 crore. Live Events Demand for both luxury and ultra-luxury properties has surged since the pandemic, with HNIs and ultra-HNIs buying such homes for investment, personal use, or both. The upsurge in demand for ultra-luxury homes can also be traced to the reshuffling of HNI investment portfolios amid the anticipated volatility in the stock market due to continued geopolitical tensions. Even old and traditional business families are now showing a willingness to invest in expansive ultra-luxury properties, resulting in a notable uptick in demand and transactions within this segment. As the number of billionaires in India is projected to grow significantly, demand for ultra-luxury properties is likely to sustain its upward trajectory.

Tesla crash case: Miami jury holds Elon Musk's company liable in autopilot crash that killed woman; awards $329 million in damages

Miami jury holds Elon Musk's company liable in autopilot crash that killed woman (Image credits: AP) A Miami federal jury on Friday ordered Tesla to pay $329 million in damages over a deadly 2019 crash involving its Autopilot driver-assistance system, a rare courtroom defeat that could have major implications for the company and its self-driving technology. The verdict came after the jury found Tesla's Autopilot system shared responsibility for the crash that killed 22-year-old Naibel Benavides Leon and seriously injured her boyfriend, Dillon Angulo. The couple had been stargazing by the roadside in Key Largo, Florida, when they were struck by a Tesla vehicle. The driver admitted to being distracted by his cellphone but claimed he had relied on the Autopilot feature to control the car, reported AP. Jurors determined that Tesla's technology had failed to prevent the collision and that the company could not shift all blame to the human behind the wheel. The decision marks one of the first times Tesla has been held publicly accountable by a jury for a fatal crash involving its driver-assist software. The outcome comes at a critical time for Tesla and CEO Elon Musk, who is preparing to launch a fully driverless taxi service in several cities and continues to champion the safety of Tesla's autonomous driving technology. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Elegant New Scooters For Seniors In 2024: The Prices May Surprise You Mobility Scooter | Search Ads Learn More Undo The four-year legal battle revealed claims by the victims' attorneys that Tesla had either hidden or misplaced key crash data, including internal logs and video footage recorded just before the impact. After a forensic expert hired by the plaintiffs uncovered the data, Tesla acknowledged it had the information but said it had been unaware of its location. The case stood out not just for its outcome, but because it made it to trial. Many similar lawsuits involving Tesla crashes have either been dismissed or quietly settled. Legal experts believe this verdict could change that. 'This will open the floodgates,' said Miguel Custodio, a personal injury attorney not involved in the case, as quoted by AP. 'It will embolden a lot of people to come to court.' Tesla has faced previous accusations of being slow to provide crash data to victims' families — claims the company has consistently denied. In this case, however, the jury sided with the plaintiffs, concluding the automaker was at least partially responsible.

Surat targets 50% electric vehicles share on roads by 2030

Surat: Taking a step further in promoting environment-friendly transport in the Diamond City, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Friday launched the Green Vehicle Policy (GVP) 2025 on Friday, setting an ambitious target of at least 50% of all total vehicle sales being electric by 2030. Replacing the earlier Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2021, the new framework focuses on the adoption of different alternate fuels like hydrogen-powered vehicles, biofuel-based vehicles, along with EVs. The policy will be implemented for a period of five years. To support the growing number of EV vehicles, over 460 charging stations will be established across the city, ensuring that there is at least one station per sq km, incentivising e-vehicle purchase through subsidies and creating necessary infrastructure. Direct incentives in the form of subsidies will be provided to commercial electric three-wheelers, light commercial vehicles (LCVs), and pink e-autos for women entrepreneurs. Subsidies will vary by vehicle type and segment, making adoption economically viable. Incentives also include exemption from vehicle tax. SMC will create a green vehicle cell, which will coordinate the implementation of the policy through a structured governance framework, including a technical committee and monitoring teams. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Mexico: New Senior Apartments (Prices May Surprise You) Senior Apartments | Search Ads Search Now Undo A dedicated Green Vehicle Fund will also be formed, pooling resources from municipal funding, green bonds, CSR contributions, carbon financing, and govt grants. The cell will include officials from SMC, the Regional Transport Office (RTO), electricity distribution companies, traffic police, the members of The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and experts. "The GVP25 aligns with India's net-zero carbon goals and serves as a roadmap to make Surat a climate-resilient and environmentally-friendly urban centre. Through a combination of technological adoption, public-private collaboration, and citizen engagement, we aim to lead the green mobility revolution in the state," said Rajan Patel, chairman, Standing Committee. Additionally, the policy envisions the creation of green zones and mobility corridors to improve air quality and promote non-polluting transportation options. The development of GV manufacturing and assembling units locally will be promoted. The policy has a scope of projects for battery recycling. Future expansion plans include hydrogen and biofuel technologies through a structured roadmap focused on technology adaptation, infrastructure growth, and demand creation. To enable a seamless experience for EV users, a network of 460 public charging stations will be deployed using the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Digital platforms, including a One EV App and a web portal, will streamline services and bring transparency to stakeholders. The city will also host a GV Expo on Sept 8, showcasing innovations in GV technology and charging infrastructure. Special focus will be placed on training for safety protocols and emergency response SOPs.
