She stated that the Pakistan Armed Forces not only defeated India on the borders but also dismantled its proxy networks inside the country.
The concert was attended by Provincial Ministers Shafiq Hussain, Faisal Khokhar, Special Assistant Salma Butt, Secretary Information Tahir Raza Hamdani, DGPR Ghulam Saghir Shahid, Chairman Alhamra Razi Ahmed, and a large number of citizens.
On this occasion, Azma Bokhari paid tribute to the youth, artists, and citizens participating in the event and said, 'We must protect our independence. From gaining independence to protecting it is our theme today. This is the mission we must continue at all costs.'
She further said that India is trying to ignite conflict in different regions of Pakistan through its proxies, but the nation has complete trust in its armed forces. 'It is the duty of every Pakistani to uplift the morale of our soldiers,' she added.
Azma Bokhari also revealed that internationally acclaimed singer Atif Aslam, despite the passing of his father, wished to attend the event out of national spirit. She said this sacrifice and commitment would be greatly appreciated. She further announced that a special event will be held on September 6, in which Atif Aslam will perform again. Due to high demand, ticket prices had been fixed for the event, but in respect of public sentiment, all ticket holders will now be refunded.
The Punjab Information Minister said that the people of Pakistan remember the sacrifices of their martyrs, and it is because of these sacrifices that today we are celebrating our freedom. She concluded by praying, 'May Allah protect our country till the Day of Judgment. This nation is undefeatable, and no one can ever subdue it.' The event ended with national songs, public enthusiasm, and resounding chants of 'Pakistan Zindabad!'

Independence Day celebrations today: Special security, traffic management plan finalised in ICT
ISLAMABAD: The capital police on Wednesday put in place an extensive security and traffic management plan to ensure public safety and the smooth flow of traffic in the city during the 78th Independence Day celebrations on August 14. According to a senior police official, over 4,000 officers and personnel have been deployed across the federal capital to maintain law and order. The plan includes patrolling, manning checkpoints, and securing key public areas such as markets and parks. Special security measures have been taken to prevent any untoward incidents on the occasion. Checkpoints have been established at various entry and exit points of the city for checking of vehicles entering the city, while a heavy police presence has been ensured in and around the high-security Red Zone. Dedicated patrol teams will also be monitoring parks and recreational areas to provide a safe environment for families. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activity or emergencies by contacting helplines Pucar-15, 1715, or 1815. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi issued an important message for the citizens of the federal capital on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day. Meanwhile, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has issued a comprehensive traffic plan in connection with the national Marka-e-Haq celebrations, with the central ceremony scheduled at the Sports Complex, Islamabad. Under the plan Srinagar Highway from Serena Underpass to Zero Point will remain closed in both directions, and entry of heavy traffic into Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be prohibited from 3 pm until 5 pm on August 14. Several roads will remain closed during the events, including Murree Road via Shakarparian, Chand Tara Chowk, Garden Avenue I-8, I-8 Garden Bridge, G-7 Loop, and the Sports Complex turn on Murree Road. Zero Point, Serena Hotel, and Khayaban-e-Suharwardy will be closed for both incoming and outgoing traffic. Alternate routes include Jinnah Avenue, Embassy Road, Serena Globe Chowk, BharaKahu, and Murree. US HR report says India acts minimally
The US government noted abuses in India and Pakistan in a shortened human rights report released on Tuesday that said India "took minimal credible steps" to combat the abuses while Pakistan "rarely took credible steps". The Trump administration scaled back the annual US government report on human rights worldwide, dramatically softening criticism of some allies and countries that have been President Donald Trump's partners. The State Department human rights documentation for India and Pakistan was also much shorter and scaled back this year. India has been an important US partner in recent years in Washington's effort to counter China's rise, although relations have been tense over Trump's imposition of a 50% tariff on goods from India. Pakistan is a non-NATO US ally. About India, the report said: "The government took minimal credible steps or action to identify and punish officials who committed human rights abuses." On Pakistan, it added: "The government rarely took credible steps to identify and punish officials who committed human rights abuses." Indian and Pakistani embassies in Washington had no immediate comment on the report released on Tuesday, which documented instances in 2024. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch fault Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government for its treatment of minorities. They point to rising hate speeches, a religion-based citizenship law the UN calls "fundamentally discriminatory," anti-conversion legislation that challenges freedom of belief, the 2019 removal of Muslim-majority Kashmir's special status, and the demolition of properties owned by Muslims. Modi denies discrimination and says his policies, such as food subsidy programs and electrification drives, benefit everyone. In Pakistan, Amnesty International says government authorities fail to protect minorities, including Christians, and use "excessive and unnecessary force" against civil society voices and protesters.

Independence Day: JI Karachi urges nation to renew its commitment
KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chief Monem Zafar Khan has urged the nation to renew its commitment on Independence Day to building Pakistan on the foundation of Kalema-e-Taiba. He made the appeal on Wednesday while inaugurating Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan Park and a newly paved street in Union Council 4 of Nazimabad Town. Earlier, he hoisted the national flag at Hyderi Market alongside members of the market committee and later opened a section of Altaf Ali Barelvi Road and the Dr Pervez Mahmood Green Belt in Liaquatabad. Addressing the gathering in Nazimabad, Monem Zafar Khan stressed the role of education in national progress, citing the JI's Bano Qabil programme, which has trained over 50,000 students despite limited resources. He said the party had restored 72 parks in Karachi over the past two years, including 42 in Nazimabad Town, and renovated 45 government schools, resulting in higher student enrolment. He pointed out that Karachi contributed Rs3,256 billion in taxes to the federal exchequer this year and accounted for 95 percent of Sindh's budget, yet remained plagued by civic problems. He blamed the Pakistan Peoples Party, which has governed the city for 17 years, and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement for neglecting Karachi's development, saying no ruling party had genuinely worked for the city, treating it instead as a source of revenue.
