"We congratulate the central government leadership and our armed forces for the decisive action taken under 'Operation Sindoor' against Pak-sponsored terrorists and their supporting ecosystem following the cowardly attack on unarmed tourists at Pahalgam," RSS chief
and the organisation's general secretary, Dattatreya Hosabale, said in a statement, posted on X.
The RSS asserted that the actions under Operation Sindoor "would deliver justice to the aggrieved families and entire country in the brutal massacre of Hindu tourists has enhanced self-respect and morale the whole country."
Bhagwat expressed complete support for the military actions against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan, describing them as essential for
national security
.
"We totally agree that military action being taken against terrorists, their infrastructure and support systems in Pakistan is necessary and inevitable for the security of the country. In this hour of national crisis, the entire country stands with the government and armed forces in spirit and action," the organisation chief said.
The RSS leader also condemned the Pakistani army's attacks on religious sites and civilian areas along Indian borders, calling those "savage and inhuman", and offering condolences to the bereaved families.
"In this challenging time, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh appeals to all citizens to ensure full compliance of instructions being given by the government and administration," the statement read.
"Along with this, while discharging our sacred civic duty, we all have to be cautious and do not let any conspiracy of anti-national forces succeed in disrupting social unity and harmony," it added.

Bhagwat further encouraged citizens to demonstrate their patriotism and support the Army and civic administration "wherever and however required and strengthen all efforts to maintain national unity and security."
The situation between the two neighbouring nations intensified after India conducted missile strikes on Wednesday, targeting nine terrorist locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), including JeM facilities in Bahawalpur and LeT bases in Muridke, responding to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.

He allegedly planned to carry out the attack on October 7, 2024, the one year anniversary of Hamas' deadly attack on Israel which triggered the ongoing war in Gaza. According to US Attorney Jay Clayton, "He planned to use automatic weapons to kill as many members of our Jewish community as possible, all in support of IS," reported AFP. However, his attempts were foiled. 'Thankfully, the great work of FBI teams and our partners exposed those plans and shut them down — and Khan was arrested by Canadian authorities on September 4, 2024,' said Patel in the post. 'He has now arrived in the U.S. and will face American justice,' he added. 'This case is a reminder of the constant threat of terrorism facing every corner of the world — as well as the disturbing rise in threats against our Jewish communities. A Hindu outfit's plan for a religious festival in Madurai on June 22 is at the centre of a political and legal standoff in Tamil Nadu, with the BJP accusing the DMK-led state government of 'deliberately trying to obstruct the event' after it sought to scale down the 11-day event because of concerns about crowd management. 'The venue is private and secluded, and restrictions on speakers and crowds are unnecessary. The event will be successful,' BJP state president Nainar Nagendran said , adding that ahead of the polls, the 'DMK fears the momentum that the event will gain'. Nagendran said the 'Muruga Bakthargalin Aanmeega Maanadu' (spiritual conference of Murugan devotees) being organised by the right-wing Hindu group Hindu Munnani might attract large crowds as Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, a popular actor, may be invited. 'His massive fan base in the southern districts, coupled with the spiritual nature of the event, is likely to attract thousands of people beyond initial estimates,' he said. The event is planned on the outskirts of Madurai, with the itinerary including daily pujas, distribution of prasadam, public recitations of the Kanda Shashti Kavacham and Thiruppugazh, apart from cultural performances. In addition to the Andhra Deputy CM, BJP leaders are also reportedly mulling over inviting Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, with top party sources saying Shah had already given an 'informal approval' to explore his availability for the event. According to the state secretary of the Hindu Munnani, S Muthukumar, police permission was sought to use microphones and amplifiers, but it was rejected over concerns about crowd management. He also alleged that a police team visited the site, where the miniatures were being made, and warned volunteers and artisans to stop their work. This is not the first time the BJP has tried to centre its Tamil Nadu outreach over Lord Murugan. In 2020, then state BJP chief L Lurugan attempted to begin the Vel Yatra — modelled on the party's rath yatras in north India — from Chennai despite the state government denying permission to it. While Tamil Nadu is steeped in Hindu symbols, the Hindutva politics of the BJP has historically failed to resonate in a state shaped by anti-Brahmin, anti-Hindi, and anti-Hindutva movements. As Lord Murugan is a cultural icon unifying Tamils beyond party lines, the BJP's move is seen as one to enter the emotional and spiritual mainstream of Tamil society. Lord Murugan is one of the most worshipped deities in Tamil Nadu and is considered a Tamil God deeply entrenched in households across caste and class lines, particularly among the backward communities. Revered in Tamil Shaivism, the 'Arupadai Veedu' represents the six sacred abodes of Lord Murugan: Thiruparankundram, Thiruchendur, Palani, Swamimalai, Thiruthani and Pazhamudircholai. Each shrine marks a significant event in Lord Murugan's mythological journey: his marriage, triumph over demons, and devotion to knowledge and justice. The temples attract millions of devotees annually and are considered central to Tamil Hindu identity. The battle over the event has also played out in court. A day after Amit Shah urged people to gather in large numbers for the event, the DMK government on Monday informed the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court that it would allow the installation of six miniatures of 'Arupadai Veedu' only for three days as against the 11 days initially planned. 'We do not want another situation like the recent stampede in Bengaluru,' the state government told the court. The police's concerns A senior police officer told The Indian Express that red flags about crowd management emerged after the Hindu Munnani, in its first request, told the police that five lakh devotees were expected and then brought down the number to two lakh and later to 50,000 after follow-up questions regarding logistics and crowd management were asked. The Madurai Police's cautious approach likely stems from two recent incidents that led to deaths: the air show at Chennai's Marina Beach last October and the Bengaluru stampede this month during celebrations of the Royal Challengers Bangalore winning the IPL title. 'The Marina air show was only one-and-a-half hours with no stalls. Yet, five people died. If we allow 10 days of pujas, darshans and crowd flow, we fear things could spiral out of control,' the police officer said. The Tamil Nadu government also argued that the Hindu Munnai had failed to provide adequate responses to the police's questions, even as the right-wing body claimed it had submitted all the required information. After hearing the arguments from both sides, Justice B Pugalendhi directed the Hindu Munnani to file a fresh response while telling the police to take a final call on the matter by June 12. The court allowed the group to continue building miniatures but said no religious rituals could be held at the site till further orders. The next hearing in the case is slated for June 13. A senior officer involved with the preparations said the Arupadai Veedu are being brought in and are operating as full-fledged temples with regular pujas. 'Setting up these temple replicas itself will attract huge crowds as thousands of devotees will throng for darshan. This has forced us to impose restrictions,' he said.

NSG roped in for ops against LWE, says DG
Black Cat commandos from the National Security Guards (NSG) have been roped in to assist other security forces in anti-Naxal operations, the force's director general (DG) Brighu Srinivasan said on Tuesday, adding that the elite squad played a key role during Operation Sindoor when it defused explosives at the Jammu airport. Addressing the inauguration of the 23rd NSG Counter-Terror International Seminar in the Capital, Srinivasan said, 'The NSG Hyderabad regional hub for anti-Naxal operations is currently in Gadchiroli (Maharashtra), and is working in conjunction with the state police. As per the directions of the home minister, NSG is also conducting joint exercise with the District Reserve Guard (DRG) of Chhattisgarh.' This is the first the force is being used in the fight against left wing extremism (LWE), which the Centre has vowed to eliminate by March 31, 2026. 'NSG's skill set is limited. Our operations are precise. If we are called and if there is intelligence, we operate. We are also learning during the anti-Naxal operations. If there is a need, we will also conduct operations (anti-naxal).' Srinivasan added. During Operation Sindoor –– India's military response to the Pahalgam terror attack, the NSG played a key role when its bomb squad defused an 8kg payload of explosives that was dropped from a drone at the Jammu airport, Srinivasan said. In the aftermath of the operation, the force also conducted anti-hijacking exercises in railway stations at Jammu, which has been on high alert since the April 22 attack. The NSG chief also said that, in January 2025, NSG conducted a security audit and anti-hijacking exercises on inland water cruise liners. 'On the directions of the MHA (ministry of home affairs), NSG conducted the security audit of the inland water cruise liners. The teams conducted anti-hijack exercises in the cruise liners operating in the Ganga and the Brahmaputra,' he said. NSG, India's elite counterterror force, is used only in exceptional circumstances. NSG commandos are selected from the Army, the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and state police. NSG personnel have been deployed during the 26/11 Mumbai attack and the 2016 Pathankot attack.
