
Ipoh cops remand man on suspicion of murdering father at home

PETALING JAYA : A 31-year-old man has been remanded for seven days from today on suspicion of murdering his father at their home in Taman Tasek Damai, Ipoh, last night.
Ipoh police chief Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the suspect was arrested in front of the house at 12.15am and is being remanded to assist in the murder investigation.
'A mobile phone, car dashcam and CCTV decoder were also seized,' Bernama reported him as saying.
Abang Zainal said police received a call at about 8.25pm about the discovery of the unconscious 57-year-old victim in the house.
He said a preliminary investigation found the premises' CCTV to be non-functional.
He said the suspect claimed that his father last responded to a text message at 2.40pm.
'The suspect said he returned home from work at about 7.30pm and found the front gate closed, but the grille and glass doors were open. He said the living room sofa was in disarray.
'He told police he went to the kitchen, where he discovered the victim lying on his back in a pool of blood.
'Further checks confirmed that no valuables were missing,' he said.
Abang Zainal said that according to a neighbour, the victim was last seen alone, smoking outside the house at about 11am, and no suspicious activity was seen or heard at the time.
A preliminary investigation revealed stab wounds to the right side of his abdomen and a slash wound to the right side of his chest.
A 22cm-long knife was found cleaned and placed on the kitchen sink. It is believed to have been used in the murder.
Abang Zainal said the motive for the killing is still under investigation.

Man stabbed to death in Sungai Buloh home

(Facebook pic) PETALING JAYA : A man was allegedly stabbed to death by his housemate in Kampung Kubu Gajah, Sungai Buloh, last night. Sungai Buloh police chief Hafiz Nor said police were alerted to a fight involving two men at a house on Jalan Gajah 6 at 11.26pm, according to Kosmo! 'Upon arrival at the scene, officers found a 33-year-old man lying unconscious in the living room with stab wounds to the left side of his chest,' he said. A medical team from Sungai Buloh Hospital arrived at 12.01am and confirmed the victim had died at the scene. The other man, also a resident of the house, was present at the scene and was detained for his suspected involvement. Preliminary investigations revealed that both the victim and the 40-year-old suspect had arrived from Kelantan three days earlier and were staying together in the same house. The victim's body has been sent to the Sungai Buloh Hospital for a post-mortem. The suspect has been remanded until July 1 to assist in the investigation. A knife believed to have been used in the killing was found at the house. The case is being investigated for murder. Hafiz urged the public to forward any relevant information to the investigating officer, Nurnazihah Norzilan, at 011-1149 9008.
