Ex-NBA player Ben McLemore sentenced to more than eight years in rape case
The ex-Portland Trail Blazer was sentenced to 100 months in prison by Clackamas County Circuit Court Judge Michael Wetzel, Portland TV station KGW reported. The jury last week found the 32-year-old guilty of rape, unlawful sexual penetration and one count of sexual abuse. He was found not guilty on another count of sexual abuse.

The charges involved a 21-year-old woman and stemmed from a party at a home owned by then-teammate Robert Covington in the Portland suburb of Lake Oswego.
During the trial, Clackamas County prosecutors described the sexual encounter as rape. The defense argued it was consensual sex.
The woman testified that she was incapacitated due to alcohol, and was unable to consent, KGW reported. McLemore said he had also been drinking but testified that it was consensual.
McLemore, who played college at Kansas, was the seventh pick in the 2013 NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings. He also played for Memphis, Houston and the Los Angeles Lakers before his last NBA season with Portland in 2021-2022.

After playing only 19 games due to the left knee limiting him, the big fella is taking his time and hopes to be ready for when the season begins in October.

49ers sign former Saints wide receiver who led the team in yards just a few years ago
Equanimeous St. Brown's time with the San Francisco 49ers proved to be brief, with the former New Orleans Saints wide receiver being released among a flurry of roster moves after just one week at training camp. But another ex-Saint replaced St. Brown in the lineup with Marquez Callaway getting a chance to prove himself in the NFL. St. Brown didn't make many fans last year in New Orleans (dissing the city's proud food scene didn't help his case), but it's tough to find a new team in August. San Francisco is still managing injuries to high-profile wideouts like Brandon Aiyuk and Ricky Pearsall, who started camp on the PUP list. Callaway, 27, entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee back in 2020 and led the Saints in receiving yards in 2021 (698). But he couldn't maintain that pace once guys like Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed joined the receiving corps, and Callaway has since bounced around the league with appearances on the Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, and most recently the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He made a short return to New Orleans in-between those different stops. Now he's getting a look in San Francisco. We'll see if Callaway can win a roster spot and suit up against his old team when the 49ers come to New Orleans on Sept. 14. As for St. Brown? He'll go into free agency hoping to catch on somewhere else. The Saints didn't work to retain him after his contract expired in January, but he could have options around the league. He's caught 63 passes for 928 yards and a touchdown in 62 career games. Good luck to him.

Former Boston Celtics big man Guerschon Yabusele has carved out a role for himself in the NBA since coming back over from Europe to join the Philadelphia 76ers last season. He has since gone on to become one of the NBA's more desired role players in free agency this summer, eventually settling on signing with the New York Knicks. Drafted by the Celtics in the first round of the 2016 NBA Draft at No. 16 overall, the Dancing Bear (as he is sometimes called for a nickname) had to wait a season playing abroad with the Shanghai Sharks in the CBA before he joined Boston for his first crack at sticking in the NBA, but was clearly not quite ready for the speed and physicality of the game in the states. But Yabu (another, more obvious nickname) has since found his footing at the NBA level, and looks poised to spread his wings in the Big Apple next season.
