Kota Kinabalu: A police report has been lodged by Special Officer to the Chief Minister Mazlan@Joehari Manan against Albert Tei for alleged defamatory and seditious statements he made during a media conference outside the High Court, here, on Monday. The report was lodged at the Kota Kinabalu District Police Headquarters, Tuesday. 'Albert made statements containing malicious, false and insulting elements against the Sabah Chief Minister, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and the Attorney General's Chambers during the media conference,' Mazlan said in the report. 'He openly made accusations and warnings to the public that should anything happen to him, including kidnapping, murder or disappearance, the Chief Minister and several other individuals should be held accountable. 'These are extremely serious criminal accusations and seditious in nature against the Chief Minister,' he said. Mazlan said given Albert's ongoing court case involving two Sabah assemblymen, he (Albert) should not have made statements through the media that could create negative perceptions and contain defamatory and false elements that could harm various parties, including the Chief Minister, MACC and Attorney General's Chambers. 'Albert's actions could constitute contempt of court (subjudice) as the matter is currently before the courts,' he said. He said the report was lodged to enable police to take appropriate legal enforcement action against Albert. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news? MACC begins investigation into MyKiosk project

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has launched an investigation into alleged corruption and irregularities involving the tender process of MyKiosk project under the Housing and Local Government Ministry. MACC Investigation Division senior director Datuk Zainul Darus said that the commission had launched a preliminary investigation into the matter following a complaint lodged by a political party. "The Governance Investigation Division has also commenced a parallel investigation into the project. "Apart from the ministry, which has submitted a full report on the tender process and award, several other involved parties have also provided documents related to the project," he said in a statement on Wednesday (July 2). Zainul said the MACC's investigation would focus on two key aspects: identifying any elements of corruption and irregularities in the tender process. "The investigation is being conducted under the provisions of the MACC Act 2009," he added. In May, the ministry submitted documents related to the MyKiosk Project to the MACC, demonstrating the ministry's commitment to transparency and integrity in the project. According to the ministry, all procurement and contractor appointments for MyKiosk were carried out by 133 local authorities via open quotation processes. – Bernama

MACC investigates alleged corruption in MyKiosk project

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has initiated an investigation into alleged corruption and irregularities involving the MyKiosk project, following a complaint lodged by a political party. The complaint centres on the tender process managed by the Housing and Local Government Ministry for the construction of the kiosks. MACC Senior Investigation Director Datuk Zainul Darus said a preliminary inquiry had been carried out based on the information received, and another parallel investigation is being conducted by the Governance Investigation Division involving the MyKiosk project. "The ministry has submitted a complete report detailing the tender process and its award. "In addition, several other parties involved have also provided supporting documents related to the project," he said. Zainul said the investigation will focus on two key aspects, namely, identifying any elements of corruption or abuse during the tender process, and reviewing the entire governance mechanism to determine if there were breaches of regulations, procedures, or systemic weaknesses. He confirmed that the investigation is being conducted under the provisions of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009.
