Boursa Kuwait appoints Bader Nasser Al-Kharafi as Chairman

Arab Finance: Boursa Kuwait has named Bader Nasser Al-Kharafi as the Chairman of the Board for three years from 2025 to 2027, according to an emailed press release.
The board members also approved the appointment of Bader Abdullah Al-Kandari as Vice Chairman for the same period.
Al-Kharafi has more than 20 years of experience in the financial, banking, industrial, and telecommunications sectors.
He has been a member of Boursa Kuwait's Board of Directors since its privatization in 2019, during which he chaired the Executive Committee and held a seat on the Nominations and Remuneration Committee.
In his role, Al-Kharafi will lead Boursa Kuwait's ambitious vision and growth strategy, focusing on improving the Kuwaiti capital market's efficiency and strengthening its investment appeal.
Commenting on his appointment as the Chairman, Al-Kharafi said: 'This phase demands a renewed commitment to advance the capital market and strengthen its position on both the regional and global stages.'
'My goal is to accelerate the development of innovative products, services, and financial instruments that enhance market performance and provide added value to all stakeholders,' he added.
The new official also rolled out plans to launch exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and a fixed-income trading platform, which will include bonds and sukuk, in the second quarter (Q2) of 2025.
The plans also include applying the Central Counterparty (CCP) system and the introduction of financial derivatives in the future.
He stated: 'These initiatives will undoubtedly enhance the market and create new investment opportunities for a wider range of investors.'

Under the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in his capacity as Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has approved a housing benefits package worth Dhs4.62 billion, benefiting 3,052 Emirati citizens across the emirate. The approved housing benefits package includes housing loans amounting to Dhs4.4 billion benefiting 2,862 citizens, and exemptions from housing loan repayments totalling Dhs212 million benefiting 190 citizens, limited-income retirees and beneficiaries of deceased citizens. The disbursement of the second housing package of 2025 comes ahead of Eid Al Adha and reflects the leadership's ongoing commitment to comprehensive development, enhancing the well-being and stability of Emirati families, empowering them to actively contribute to the nation's progress, in line with UAE Year of Community objectives aimed at strengthening social cohesion and reinforcing community solidarity. This package brings the total housing benefits delivered to citizens in Abu Dhabi in 2025 to Dhs11.38 billion. Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, said, 'The new housing benefits package reflects the leadership's commitment to empowering citizens through the provision of quality housing that promotes family stability and elevates quality of life. Egypt: ICMI shifts to $42,282 consolidated losses in Q1 2025

Arab Finance: International Company for Medical Industries (ICMI) swung to consolidated net losses attributable to the holding company valued at EGP 2.136 million in the first quarter (Q1) of 2025, according to the financials. The net losses were compared with the net profits of EGP 482,703 registered in Q1 2024. Loss per share reached EGP 0.041 at the end of March 2025, against earnings per share (EPS) of EGP 0.011 in the year-ago period. Revenues hiked to EGP 22.412 million from EGP 11.586 million. Regarding the standalone business, the company turned to net losses worth EGP 1.588 million in the first three months of 2025, when compared to profits amounting to EGP 93,948 in Q1 2024. Non-consolidated loss per share hit EGP 0.028 in Q1 2025, versus a profit per share of EGP 0.002 a year earlier.
