Catherine Zeta Jones owns four homes but insists it's 'not excessive'
The Chicago star, 55, has been doing the media rounds of late to promote the second season of Wednesday, in which she stars as Morticia Addams alongside Jenna Ortega as the titular character.
In one of the interviews, the Welsh actor opened up about her living situation – which spans three countries, two continents, and four homes – with her husband Michael Douglas.
But she insists her two New York homes, one Canada bolthole and her house in Spain are 'not excessive' but simply 'very comfortable'.
'I know it sounds very jet set, and I love to surround myself with beauty but it's not excessive, it's very comfortable,' Catherine told The Times in a recent interview.
By her own merits Catherine is reportedly worth £150,000,000 and together her combined assets with Basic Instinct actor Michael, 80, are thought to be £350milion.
Discussing their marriage, Catherine said: 'We are very similar; we were born on the same day, 25 years apart. We're not afraid to be verbal, to express ourselves. I wear everything on my sleeve and so does he, which is good.'
The pair have also now been married for almost 25 years, having tied the knot at the Plaza Hotel in New York City in 2001. Celebrity guests in attendance included Tom Hanks, Whoopi Goldberg, Anthony Hopkins, and Brad Pitt.
Catherine and Michael – who share two children Dylan, 25, and Carys, 22 – met at Delaware Film Festival in 1998, while she was promoting The Mask of Zorro and he was working on A Perfect Murder.
Having seen Catherine in her role as Elena Montero in the hit film, Michael asked his publicist to set up a meeting at a bar, where he was a 'total gentleman', he reflected on The Jonathan Ross Show.
The first date didn't go quite as planned though, as Michael boldly proclaimed he was going to be the father of her children and she made a swift exit. But a year later they were engaged, with Michael popping the question on New Year's Eve.
In 2013, Catherine and Michael announced their split with sources claiming stress over his throat cancer journey (which he was free of in 2011) and her struggles with bipolar II disorder were behind the shock news.
However, a year later they had reconciled. Talking on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, Michael said relationships 'can't be a one way street' but he is 'crazy about' Catherine.
'I think every couple has their difficult times. The only problem is, as you well know, we're all in the public eye, and it tends to get a little more exposed than most,' he said, confirming: 'We're back stronger than ever.'
Catherine's Wednesday release comes after Michael said he had 'no real intentions' of ever acting again.

After making his first on-screen appearance in 1966, the actor has explained why he thinks his 2025 role in Looking Through Water could be his last on-screen appearance.
While at the conference at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic, Michael explained: 'I have not worked since 2022 purposefully because I realised I had to stop.
'I had been working pretty hard for almost 60 years, and I did not want to be one of those people who dropped dead on the set. I have no real intentions of going back,' he said per Variety.
He clarified: 'I say I'm not retired because if something special came up, I'd go back, but otherwise, no.'

What happened to the original Wednesday Addams: Actress who first brought role to life suffered drug issues and married a porn star after losing her alcoholic mother as a teen
The explosion of Tim Burton 's Wednesday has seen merch and adverts for the spooky spin-off everywhere from Primark to buses and trains. But while this generation's viewers may associate the legendary Addams Family character with 22-year-old Jenna Ortega, decades ago the role was originated by the exceptionally pouty gothic child star Lisa Loring. Born in 1958, the now late artist burst onto the scene with a broody gaze, neatly put together braids and a buttoned-up frock - as she delighted audiences with her perfectly deadpan delivery which cements her performance with cult-status to this day. However, after gaining recognition for the macabre lead, Lisa's life in the spotlight endured a myriad of struggles, including drug addiction and four marriages - one of which was to an ex-porn star. The actress was born in February 1958, in Kwajalein, Marshall Islands. Aged three, she was already working as a child model before venturing into the world of cinema. It included a features on medical drama Dr. Kildare, The Pruitts of Southampton, The Girl From U.N.C.L.E., Fantasy Island, and Barnaby Jones. Most famous, undoubtedly, was her stint on The Addams Family at five years old, which has maintained a cultural legacy to this day. The 1966 sitcom, an adaptation of the New Yorker cartoons by Charles Addams, saw the show's daughter swiftly become a fan favourite albeit the creator struggled with bringing her to life. Speaking to the outlet in 2018, Charles's friend, poet Joan Blake, revealed: 'He told me that the Addams Family was being made into a television show, and that he had no name for the little girl. 'I said, "Wednesday - Wednesday's child is full of woe." And Wednesday became her name.' Lisa had nothing but good things to say about her time on set, and was able to quickly pick up the trade. 'I learned to memorise before I could read,' she once said, as per the Sydney Morning Herald. According to the outlet, she also firmly believed the Addams Family was much more 'sophisticated' and 'like the Marx Brothers', as compared to their rivals, The Munsters, 'which was more slapstick, like The Three Stooges'. 'John Astin [who played Gomez Addams] said, "Who told you you that? How would you know that?,"' she recalled. 'It was like a real family - you couldn't have picked a better cast and crew,' she also shared in a 2017 YouTube interview conducted at the Monsterpalooza convention. 'Carolyn Jones, John Astin - Gomez and Morticia - were like parents to me. They were great.' Lisa's later roles included a reunion with her TV family as Wednesday Sr. in the made-for-TV film, Halloween With The New Addams Family. However, her personal life soon started to overshadow her career after she got married to her childhood sweetheart, Farrell Foumberg in 1973, aged just 15. The couple had a child the following year, but soon got divorced in the months that followed. This led to a turbulent period for the star who was unable to turn to family for help. Her mother, who was an alcoholic, developed complications due to her addiction and died in 1974. Lisa made a TV comeback at 22 as the 'troubled teen' Cricket Montgomery on As The World Turns from 1980 to 1983, but she was unable to land lucrative roles in the years that followed. After her second marriage to actor Doug Stevenson failed - producing a second child - and she continued to be unhappy with the direction her career was taking, Lisa made a move working as a make-up artist on adult films. During this time, she was also exposed to drugs which played a hand in ending her third marriage to Paul Siederman - also an adult star - who went by Jerry Butler. He had made more than 600 films and even penned a tell-all on the industry, titled Raw Talent. The couple's marriage became troubled after Lisa wanted him to give up his pornography career following their marriage - however it is understood that he was continuing to take part in shoots behind her back. The pair appeared on talk show Geraldo in 1992, where they discussed challenges in their love life - as an audience member questioned what made Lisa go back to Jerry after an initial split. 'A lot of begging,' she revealed. 'A lot of "I'll never do it again, please forgive me"... Love. Trying again. Do we give up so easily? Are we all human, don't we all make mistakes? Some worse than others?' Jerry also added: 'Doing these films, I was breezing, I was making films and I had a drug problem... that was my aphrodisiac to go home after I made a movie because I think psychologically I wanted to be alone and be private with just one person before I met Lisa. 'Until I met this woman - she gave me breath, she gave me life - I sometimes was very stupid. 'I didn't realise what I had - and I'll never leave this woman even if she leaves me... She adds society to me where there's a menagerie.' Speaking to NBC's Dateline, Jerry has also admitted he was 'addicted to the lifestyle'. When they divorced in 1992, the actress was prompted to enter a drug rehab program for heroin abuse after she found a friend who had committed suicide. Later, as reported by the Sydney Morning Herald, Lisa admitted the marriage to Jerry was 'the biggest mistake of her life'. 'I would not be involved with someone who did that,' she explained. 'He was going behind my back and lying to me: that was it.' After that, she continued pursuing a Hollywood career, landing a handful of smaller roles. Some of Lisa's notable roles included Roxey in the 1988 action-drama film Death Feud and Vera in the 2014 comedy-horror, science-fiction movie, Way Down In Chinatown. After she became sober, Lisa also got a job at an interior design company in Santa Monica. The mother-of-two remarried for the fourth time in 2003 to Graham Rich. The marriage ended in 2008, but they did not finalise the divorce until 2014. In recent years, Lisa took time to celebrate the show on social media and wished her 'TV dad' John Astin a happy birthday message on Twitter in 2016 when she posted a GIF of him exchanging a knowing smile with co-star Carolyn Jones. In 2023, her friend Laure Jacobson announced that the actress had sadly passed away at the age of 64 after being taken off life support. 'It is with great sadness that I report the death of our friend, Lisa Loring. 4 Days ago she suffered a massive stroke brought on by smoking and high blood pressure,' she wrote. 'She had been on life support for 3 days. Yesterday, her family made the difficult decision to remove it and she passed last night.' Paying tribute to her friend's work, Laure continued: 'She is embedded in the tapestry that is pop culture and in our hearts always as Wednesday Addams. 'Beautiful, kind, a loving mother, Lisa's legacy in the world of entertainment is huge. And the legacy for her family and friends — a wealth of humor, affection and love will long play in our memories. RIP, Lisa. Damn, girl… you were a ton of fun.' Lisa is survived by her two daughters, Marianne and Vanessa, and her grandchildren, Emiliana and Charles. Her daughter, Vanessa Foumberg, confirmed her mother's death to Variety, saying: 'She went peacefully with both her daughters holding her hands.'

I was embroiled in Towie fakery row after bosses asked me to sleep with Mark Wright – when I said no they cut me out

Well, one fan of the original reality series did and posted an appeal on TikTok asking if anyone knew where she and her pint-pulling pal Michael had gone. Vanished without a trace The pair were part of the OG cast in series one, back in 2010, before mysteriously vanishing without a trace when the show returned for a second series. Since then, they have both disappeared from the spotlight and are almost impossible to find on social media. But after the Towie superfan's TikTok appeal, Candy surprisingly emerged from the showbiz abyss and replied to the video - and she didn't hold back. Candy commented: 'Gosh, where to start? Michael and I were and still are best friends so that was real.' So far, so good. Bed Mark... or move on Using initials that could indicate Mark Wright and Harry Derbidge, she went on: 'However we never worked at the SH [Sugar Hut]. 'The producers told us that unless I slept with MW [Mark Wright] and Mikey fake a romance with HD [Harry Derbridge], they would find it hard to place us. 'We didn't want to discredit ourselves by faking storylines. So, they phased us out.' Towie in 'fake' row as fans left cringing over huge mistake in dramatic final scenes - did you spot it- On her decision to leave, Candy went on: 'Some would say [it was] stupid. We say honourable. No hate though. We have happy lives. Not everyone wants to be famous.' When approached about Candy's claims, an ITV spokesperson said: 'Towie has always followed real people and their real lives, and we're grateful to the cast for sharing their lives and their emotions with our audiences over 15 years.' Indeed, this isn't the first time reps for the network have had to defend the show against accusations of the series being one big set-up. Every time a cast member leaves the ITV2 long-runner, they take a bash at the lack of realism. 14 Italian Stallion Mario Falcone was accused of cheating on fiancée Lucy Mecklenburgh, above, with Sugar Hut babe Amy Broadbent Credit: Rex Features 14 Mario said the show was faker than Corrie 14 Lauren Goodger claimed she and Mark Wright's relationship was not portrayed accurately - including his 'cheating' Credit: Rex 14 Lauren's pal Amy Childs has also confessed things are 'planned and staged' Credit: Instagram Italian Stallion Mario Falcone caused a stir back in 2013 when he claimed soap operas were more authentic than the Essex saga. It came at a time when he was accused of cheating on fiancée Lucy Mecklenburgh with Sugar Hut babe Amy Broadbent. Mario blasted the show on Twitter, writing: "The producers are still lying to you all... Coronation street is more reality than Towie!" "Me and Little Chris set up our argument in the first episode [of the new series], producers knew but still put it in - all very scripted!" Original star Amy Childs is now back on the series but hasn't held back over the years. She said in 2016: "When I was on the show, you didn't know who would be coming on or what would happen, but now they all know exactly what's coming up. "At the beginning, it was a new show and it was exciting. "But I don't really know many of the people on the show now - the drama feels a bit planned and staged." Lauren's fake rows with Mark Wright Similarly, Lauren Goodger - who left the show in 2012 but has returned for several guests stints since before a permanent comeback in 2025 - admitted aspects of her on-screen rollercoaster romance with Mark Wright were fake. She told Paul C Brunson on his We Need To Talk podcast that when Mark was seen with other girls on the show, it was purely for the storyline. "He would arrive with another girl [on camera] but really he has arrived with me," she explained, adding that they would row during filming and then "go home and have tea and biscuits". She continued: "[Mark] wasn't a bad boy, that's just how they [The Only Way Is Essex] portrayed him. "What is quite hard is that yes, there were difficult times and I'm not saying it wasn't hard but it wasn't all bad from him. "He was a good person and a good partner but they say 'he treated you terribly' - that was just for the show." Towie is categorised as "structured reality" and producers have never tried to argue the action was pure fly-on-the-wall. But just how deep does the fakery go? Just last November fans spotted a clue a huge row was faked. Junair Ahmed was seen making a call to his best mate Dani Imbert following his break-up with Harry Derbidge. Dani then called Elma Pazar, who rang Saffron Lempriere, who then called Harry - but the phone was picked up by Amy Childs. Fans were quick to spot that some of the Towie stars weren't actually on the phone. Camera clue They noticed that Elma's iPhone was displaying the lock screen, while the camera was clearly open when Amy was on the call. There was another clanger in 2016 when fans spotted the cast staged a scene on a night out in Marbella - all dancing in complete silence. Taking to Instagram to post the video, the fan in question captioned it: 'Cannot believe Towie isn't real and all staged'. One thing for sure is the power of Towie's 'bump ins'. These are the meetings between two parties that producers set up - but they swear what then ensues is real. We didn't want to discredit ourselves by faking storylines. So, they phased us out Candy Chloe Sims explained: 'They'll just say to you, 'Look, we're rolling, you're walking, you're gonna bump into him and whatever happens happens.' 14 During dramatic scenes from the series final, Towie fans noticed Elma wasn't actually on the phone Credit: ITV 14 And when Amy picked up Harry's phone the camera app was open Credit: ITV 14 Junaid reveals his relationship is over Credit: ITV James Lock has thrown a little more light on the process: 'Obviously it's not a fly on the wall documentary, they don't follow us around. "When we bump into somebody, like if I had a problem with you and bumped into you, they are not there 24/7 to catch that argument. "So you have to relive that argument, and by the time you've relived it, you don't always feel the same. "So you are sort of semi-acting in that environment." Secret rivalries Perhaps the real truth comes from a voice behind Towie's fiction - one of the storyline writers. They hinted that cast demanded increasingly dramatic scenes to boost their airtime and media career - with some even seeking out relationships that would help their cause. The mole told the Daily Star: "There was a constant competition for air time. The characters really did not need much manipulation because they are all very media-savvy. "They allow the show to make stories out of their relationship, then they get more scenes which therefore will have a large effect on their status outside of the show. "Of course that meant that some of them would actively seek relationships for more air time." Cast member Danielle Armstrong is sick of people questioning the show's integrity, though. During an appearance on Vicky Pattison's The Secret To podcast, she said: 'The biggest question… I had was, 'Is it real? Is it real?' The producers are still lying to you all... Coronation street is more reality than Towie! Mario Falcone 'That used to infuriate me because I'd think, 'Do you actually think I can act? Did you not see me crying every Sunday and Wednesday on ITV?' We definitely can't act. 'Well, some I'm sure can, but I definitely couldn't and it was all so real.' Pete Wicks said, simply: 'It's never been scripted, babe. Never.' One thing that is definitely scripted, though, is Denise Van Outen's famous intro to the show, in which she trills: 'The tans you see might be fake, but the people are all real… although some of what they do has been set up purely for your entertainment.' It's probably the realest thing on there. 14 Cast member Danielle Armstrong is sick of people questioning the show's integrity and opened up on Vicky Pattison's The Secret To podcast 14 Lauren Goodger and Mark Wright in 2011 Credit: Handout 14 Candy revealed 'not everyone wants to be famous' as she opened up on leaving the show Credit: ITV
