George Clooney's Broadway Adaptation of ‘Good Night and Good Luck' to Air Live on CNN
George Clooney is headed back to television…just not the way you think.
Unlike former co-star Noah Wyle's return to the medical procedural genre with 'The Pitt,' Clooney will be taking to the small screen via The Great White Way. For the last few months, he's been performing at Broadway's Winter Garden Theatre in a theatrical adaptation of his 2005 Oscar-nominated biopic 'Good Night and Good Luck.' Now he'll bring that story back to the place it first started: on television.

Airing Saturday, June 7 on CNN, CNN will air a live performance of 'Good Night and Good Luck' in what will be the Broadway show's penultimate performance. It's also the first time in Broadway history a play has been televised live.
As per The New York Times, the play will be preceded and followed by coverage and discussion around the show, it's history, and the current state of journalism. The play covers a period of time in 1953 when stalwart newsman Edward R. Murrow and his team of reporters took aim at Senator Joseph R. McCarthy. At the time, his House Un-American Activities Committee was causing undue terror around the nation, but thanks to Murrow's newscasts on CBS, the junior senator from Wisconsin was ultimately investigated and censured by 1954.
Echoing the value of how news can make an impact, Clooney chose to partner with CNN to broadcast 'Good Night and Good Luck' as a symbol of journalism's enduring strength.
'We were looking at taking the play on the road, and taking it to London, and taking it to Paris, but we also thought it never is going to be exactly what it is right now, with the same cast, and we thought it would be nice to have a record of it,' Clooney told the New York Times. 'And then we thought, because the newscasts are all done live, it is the perfect thing to try to create on live television, which is always exciting — there's no safety net, and it's a fun thing to do.'
In addition to streaming the play live, Clooney is also in the process of negotiating a deal for the live recording to be hosted on a streaming platform later on.
Before co-writing the screenplay with producing partner Grant Heslov and then directing the film version, Clooney initially envisioned 'Good Night and Good Luck' as a televised play, similar to how '12 Angry Men' and 'Marty' were mounted during the actual 1950s. Getting the chance to showcase the material in this manner brings his relationship to the story full circle, but the Tony-nominated actor doesn't think its themes will ever go out of style.
'Unfortunately, this play always is timely,' Clooney said. 'What journalists do for a living is always going to be challenged by people in power — they don't like it unless they can control it.'
The Broadway production co-stars Ilana Glazer, Glenn Fleshler, Clark Gregg, Carter Hudson, Christopher Denham, Fran Kranz, Mac Brandt, Will Dagger, and Georgia Heers.

A shadowdrop could be arriving tomorrow, or our eternal vigil may never end. It's either the final 24 hours, or time has no meaning anymore. One thing's for certain: SteamDB has some updates. In addition to the updates released earlier this week, which included achievement data for multiple languages, Silksong has had support for Windows, Mac, and Linux added, visible via SteamDB. At the time of writing, Silksong's minimum requirements don't list Mac or Linux as possible platforms, however, Steam does provide support for them, and developers can prep their store pages to send out platform-specific packages. As always, the Silksong subreddit is being delightfully normal about the news. In one thread, you can even see the ever-cynical doubters (we're well past the point of tribalistic factions) starting to crack. "FUCK MY FLAIR SILKSONG TOMORROW," roars one frantic switcher. "I... CANT... DENY... IT... ANY... LONGER!" writes another, with the tone of the Incredible Hulk swelling out of his shirt. On one hand, it is mighty suspicious that the games' Steam page would receive such a ferocious flurry of updates—seven in total, including this one—before Summer Game Fest. With a bevvy of announcements to come, the idea that Team Cherry's doing some preparatory updating before finally releasing the dang thing isn't entirely out of the question. On the other hand, a few SteamDB updates aren't substantial proof of anything if you aren't scrabbling for every scrap of hope you can. No more daily Silksong news, no more crossed fingers, no more Silkposts. Bait used to be believable, but if it's the dawn of the final day, it shall be absent entirely. Billy Bob Thornton Reflects on Reuniting with 'Hero' Sam Elliott for ‘Landman'
Filming for Landman Season 2 is well underway, and Billy Bob Thornton can hardly contain his excitement, not just for the plot, but who he gets to work with in the latest installment of the fan-favorite Taylor Sheridan series. In a May 2025 interview with Gold Derby, Billy Bob, who plays Tommy Norris on the show, revealed that he hopes to be working with Taylor and co. for the foreseeable future. "[Landman] is a show I'd like to work on for a while; I told Taylor, I said 'As long as you want me around, I'm here for this,'' he shares. 'I really love the show. I love doing it, I love playing this character, and I love the people I work with. Not only the cast, but the crew also is just stellar.' One Season 2 castmate, in particular, stands out. '[Sam Elliott] has always been a mentor and a hero of mine,' Billy Bob said in the interview. The two have previously shared the screen in 1883 and Tombstone. 'I love the guy, we have a real special relationship in real life… It's so good to see him; he lights my day up.' News of Sam joining the Landman Season 2 cast broke in April 2025, with many fans thrilled for the addition. 'Ooohhh I was hoping for another season and Sam just made me even more excited,' one fan commented on the show's Instagram reveal. 'The patch just leveled up,' someone else wrote. 'Perfect casting,' another fan concluded. Meanwhile, Ali Larter, who plays Angela Norris on the show, also appears to be happy with her newest castmate.
