Nothing is rumored to be working on a new type of smartphone
Nothing has recently launched the Phone (3), billed as its first proper flagship device, but the company is now rumored to be exploring new avenues. Namely, it's said to be adding 'Lite' or 'T' branded models to its lineup, as "Pro models are just not cutting it", according to an Indian leaker over on X.
We're not sure which Pro models those are - the only recent Nothing handset with that branding is the Phone (3a) Pro, a mid-ranger that's better-specced than the non-Pro Phone (3a).

Unfortunately, the source of this claim doesn't go into any more detail about these Nothing Lite or T phones, so we can't be sure what line the suffix would be applied to. A Nothing Phone (3) Lite? That's one thing. A Nothing Phone (3a) Lite? That's quite another.

Gone are the days when OnePlus was a budget brand – but these days even its budget product line is seen as too expensive. That or it's not competitive in the current mid-range market. Last week's poll painted a grim picture of Nord 5's and Nord CE5's future. The OnePlus Nord 5 fared pretty poorly, with a plurality of people voting against its hardware. The second largest group thought that it was too expensive. The two are related, of course, but it's not just about the value for money equation. The Nord 4 had a unique look with that aluminum unibody – the Nord 5 looks ordinary by comparison. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset is pretty powerful, but you can get the newer 8s Gen 4 for less money than the Nord 5. And the 50+8MP camera was seen as nothing special. The IP65 rating and small battery on the international model were also commonly brought up as issues. The OnePlus Nord CE5 got the clearest message we've seen yet – 'No, I don't like the hardware' got over 80% of the vote. It's not even a question about it being too expensive (the price in India is too close to the Nord 5, for example), people in the comments just poked too many holes in the spec sheet. Some felt that the Dimensity 8350 Apex chipset didn't get enough cooling and throttling hurt its sustained performance. Others pointed to the lack of stereo speakers (the CE4 had them). Going from a 7,100mAh battery in the model for India to 5,200mAh for the global one is a major downgrade too. The microSD slot did earn the CE5 some points, though not enough. The Nord series is in a bad spot right now as it is facing strong competition in the mid-range market. OnePlus 13s faces early screen defect reports, sparking warranty confusion
OnePlus launched the OnePlus 13s in India just last month, and while the phone offers strong specs in a compact size, some early buyers are already reporting screen problems. According to a user post on Reddit, their new OnePlus 13s developed a green line on the display shortly after Reddit user, posting under the name u/blackarrow3839, said that the green line first appeared for a few seconds and then disappeared. However, it returned the next day and stayed visible until the phone was restarted. They even recorded the issue as it they took the phone to a OnePlus service center, the support team reportedly said the video was not acceptable because it didn't show the phone's IMEI number. Instead of offering a replacement, the staff collected system logs and told the customer to wait and monitor the device for a few more days. The Reddit user raised a valid question: what happens if the issue reappears after that deadline? The answer they received, unfortunately, was that there's nothing the company can do due to its OnePlus did introduce a lifetime display warranty in 2024 for green line issues. That should technically allow affected users to get their displays fixed at no cost, though it's clearly not a seamless process. It's especially frustrating to see this kind of defect on a phone that's so new. While display issues like this aren't widespread yet, even a few reports can be enough to raise red flags for potential buyers. For those unfamiliar, the OnePlus 13s is a device that packs a lot into a small package. It's essentially a regional variant of the upcoming OnePlus 13T, featuring a 6.32-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, and 12GB of RAM. While it has a smaller 5,850mAh battery compared to the rumored 13T's 6,260mAh, it still offers more capacity than most phones in its size class. The catch? OnePlus has made the 13s exclusive to India for now, with no plans yet to bring it to the US or Europe. That limited reach makes it harder to get a full picture of how widespread the issue might become. While the hardware and specs of the OnePlus 13s remain impressive, this green line issue is something to be watching closely. Infinix Smart 10 launched in India
The Infinix Smart 10, unveiled last month, has landed in India. It comes in a single 4GB/64GB configuration, priced at INR6,799, and has four color options - Iris Blue, Twilight Gold, Titanium Silver, and Sleek Black. The Smart 10 will go on sale in India starting August 2 through Flipkart and retail stores. The Infinix Smart 10 is powered by the Unisoc T7250 SoC and runs Android 15-based XOS 15.1 out of the box. It's built around a 6.67" 120Hz HD+ LCD and packs a 5,000 mAh battery that charges through a USB-C at up to 15W. The smartphone also supports reverse wired charging. The rest of the Infinix Smart 10's highlights include an 8MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and an IP64 rating. The Smart 10 also has a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion of up to 2TB and comes with dual speakers and DTS Sound Processing.
