Ice Cube's basketball league fired courtside commentator after DeMita, who played briefly at the collegiate level, tweeted about Caitlin Clark's return to the WNBA while covering a game for The Big3. Front Office Sports confirmed that DeMita was let go, with the "final straw" being her tweeting about Clark during a game.
DeMita, who has 279,000 followers on X and at least 1 million on Instagram, posted eight times over the course of last Saturday, when the Indiana Fever were taking on the New York Liberty. All eight of her posts involved Clark and her return from injury.
The Big3 reportedly told DeMita that they were 'dismayed and disappointed' by her social media posts about Clark while she was supposed to be covering one of their games.

"The rumors are true. I was fired from The Big3. My team received an email at 11 p.m. on Tuesday with a letter that essentially said that I had been terminated," she said.
The Big3 told DeMita's team that she was caught tweeting about another league while performing services for their league. The Big3 said that she should have only been promoting league games while working as a sideline reporter.
"This is true. I did send out three tweets about the Indiana Fever vs. New York Liberty game during The Big3 broadcast."
DeMita said that she didn't want to make any excuses, adding that she will 'take [the firing] on the chin.'

The former college basketball player said that she was bummed by the abrupt firing. DeMita said that she didn't believe her tweets about Clark and the WNBA would do any damage to The Big3.
"I feel like something like this could've been easily nipped in the bud," she said.
"From my side, I know of nothing else as to why I was fired...from their side, I'm not sure."

Sophie Cunningham Turns Heads With Pregame Shirt Choice Sunday

Sophie Cunningham Turns Heads With Pregame Shirt Choice Sunday originally appeared on The Spun. WNBA star Sophie Cunningham is turning heads with her sizzling pregame outfit on Sunday. The Indiana Fever guard, who was traded from the Phoenix Mercury this offseason, has been surging in popularity, thanks to her behavior against the Connecticut Sun last week. Cunningham ended up decking Sun guard Jacy Sheldon, who had hit Clark in the eye earlier in the game. Advertisement Cunningham spoke to the media on Saturday, blaming the refs for letting the situation escalate. 'I think the refs had a lot to do with that. It was a build up for a couple years now of them just not, not protecting the star player in the WNBA. And so at the end of the day, I'm going to protect my teammates, that's what I do," she said. Aurora FC changes kickoff time to keep players and fans safe in extreme heat

Kick off for Sunday's Aurora FC game got pushed back to 7:30 p.m. because of the extreme heat warning in place. It's a step to keep players, staff and fans safe. "We just have to try and be as proactive as possible," said Saara Hassoun, chief of staff for Aurora FC. "It gets so hot on that turf, even hotter than were all feeling out here in this environment. When you step on that turf, it's a good 10-15 degrees hotter because of the way the sun absorbs and reflects." Aurora FC has battled high temps before. In 2022, their inaugural season, they put large fans on the sidelines and tents to keep people in the shade when they're not on the field. Tents were on the sidelines again on Sunday, along with mandatory hydration breaks in each half. They also made exceptions for fans to bring their own sealed, store-bought water. "You can always bring an empty water bottle because we do have water fountains available for free throughout the stadium," said Hassoun. Others on Sunday did not slow down in the heat. Painter Park, off Lyndale Avenue in South Minneapolis, was busy with people getting exercise. Friends Quinn O'Keefe and Elliot Hicks play basketball several times a week and the temperature didn't stop them. "There was a big debate on whether or not to play basketball, but we decided that we're about it and ball is life, so we had to come out here, but we made sure to bring lots of water," said Hicks. "Exactly," said O'Keefe. "It's hot, but our hoop dreams our hotter." Skateboarders still got out at the park too, but extra water breaks were necessary. "I think because it's so hot today there's not too many people, which is chill, but the wind is keeping somewhat manageable," said Sean Pearson, a skateboarder.
