Thunder-Pacers Game 7 hit viewership mark not seen in 6 years
The Oklahoma City Thunder are champions for the first time, and this really does not come as a surprise. For the second consecutive season, the team that was long favored to win the NBA Finals got it done. The Boston Celtics did it last year, and the Thunder did it this season. With the way OKC played all season, it was very hard to imagine them not standing at the top when it was all said and done. The Indiana Pacers brought a massive amount of electricity with them the entire postseason and deserved to be in the position they were in. The Pacers did not get it done, but the grit and pace they showcased from April until now will be remembered forever. Anything can happen at any time, and if Pacers' star Tyrese Haliburton didn't tear his Achilles, then we could be discussing the Pacers' victory and rise to glory.

People didn't expect this series to be as hyped up, but it certainly delivered. The Game 7 viewership was the most-watched NBA Finals game in the last six years. According to Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints, the game reached 19.3 million viewers at 9:45 PM EST.
'The seven-game series has accounted for the 7 most-watched primetime television programs over the past 2 months.'
Additionally, the NBA generated a record five billion views and counting across all social media platforms during the NBA Finals, up 215 percent versus last year (per Videocites).
Game 7 of Thunder-Pacers was the most-watched Finals game internationally ever on NBA League Pass and up 42 percent versus last year's Game 5 that saw the Boston Celtics win the NBA Championship over the Dallas Mavericks.

The Thunder deserve to be champions after forming a dominant team led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. His rise to fame has been something to watch since being traded for Paul George six years ago. He is now an MVP, a Champion, and Finals MVP winner. Doing that in one season will put SGA in conversations with some of the best players of all time.
The Thunder will need to quickly move forward as the 2025 NBA Draft is on Wednesday. They own two picks and could very well trade one during draft night.

His efficiency sank below the floor for a center. He couldn't buy an outside bucket. Now, with an offseason removed from his hip fracture, the Thunder hope Holmgren can return to the star trajectory he was on. The seven-footer posted on social media some of his offseason workouts. In the quick video, you can see him work on his handle and finish through contact. While Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams received all the flowers for being 20-plus point scorers, Holmgren is not too far behind. Only injuries have limited his ascension. If he can have a healthy fourth season, he can show why those who doubted his contract extension were foolish to do so.

OKC Thunder jersey history No. 34 - Tyler Davis (2018-19)
The Oklahoma City Thunder (and the Seattle Supersonics before them) have 51 jersey numbers worn by the players who have suited up for the franchise since its founding at the start of the 1967-68 season. To commemorate the players who wore those numbers, Thunder Wire is covering the entire history of jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the founding of the team. And while those Supersonics jerseys may not remain part of the franchise history should a new team be established in Seattle as was the case with the return of the Charlotte Hornets, they are part of the Thunder's history today. For this article, we continue with the 34th jersey number in the series, jersey No. 34, with 17 players in total having donned the jersey in the history of the franchise. The 16th of those players did so in the Oklahoma City Thunder era, center alum Tyler Davis. After ending his college career at Texas A&M, Davis would go unselected in the 2018 NBA Draft, instead signing with the Thunder. The San Jose, California native would play the sole season (and appearance) of his NBA career with OKC, leaving the league as a player in 2019 after the briefest of tenures. Celtics' first-round pick named NBA Summer League disappointment
After the NBA Summer League concluded, the Boston Celtics had a productive outing, finishing with a 4-1 record. The Celtics' third-year guard Jordan Walsh was the team's standout for the Summer League, as his performance this year made him Boston's all-time Summer League scorer. This summer wasn't as productive for the Celtics' lone first-round pick in 2025, Hugo Gonzalez. Gonzalez was Boston's No. 28 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft out of Real Madrid. At just 19 years old, Gonzalez began playing professional basketball overseas at just 16 years old. He was most productive for Real Madrid in Liga ACB, playing in 29 games and averaging 5.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, while shooting 56.5% from the field in 14.2 minutes per game. His first Summer League in the NBA, however, was less impressive, according toThe Athletic's John Hollinger. "The questions about his skill level didn't exactly vanish with his play in Vegas. Gonzalez repeatedly lost his handle, including one notable turnover when he took a single dribble from a standstill and simultaneously had the ball picked and committed a clear path foul. He finished summer league with as many turnovers (13) as baskets and, in addition to shaky perimeter shooting, only shot 6 of 20 inside the arc," Hollinger said in an article. As a taller guard, Gonzales came into the NBA pre-draft process as a player who thrives in pick-and-roll situations, but his shooting ability from behind the three-point line (27.1% for Real Madrid last season) and habits of making passes off of one foot were labeled as problems for the 6-foot-6, 205-pound guard.
