Kid Cudi admits Cassie Ventura ‘played' him, in his action-packed Diddy trial testimony

Express Tribune22-05-2025

Rapper and actor Scott Mescudi, better known as Kid Cudi, took the witness stand Thursday in the sex trafficking trial of Sean 'Diddy' Combs, providing testimony about his relationship with R&B singer Cassie Ventura and incidents he alleges involved Combs.
Mescudi, dressed casually in jeans, a leather jacket, and a white T-shirt, told the Manhattan federal court that he met Cassie in 2008 and briefly dated her in 2011. At the time, he believed Cassie and Combs, her former boyfriend, were no longer involved. 'She and Sean Combs had some problems and they weren't dating anymore,' he said.
According to Mescudi, in late 2011, Cassie called him in distress, saying Combs had discovered their relationship. 'She sounded really stressed, nervous, scared,' he recalled. Mescudi said he went to pick her up and took her to the Sunset Marquis hotel in West Hollywood to keep her 'off the radar' and away from Combs. While there, he received a call from Combs' assistant Capricorn Clark, who was 'on the verge of tears' and reported that Combs and an associate had entered Mescudi's Hollywood Hills home without permission.
Mescudi said he immediately drove home, calling Combs on the way. He asked, 'Motherf***er, are you in my house?' Combs calmly replied, 'I want to talk to you.' Upon arrival, Mescudi found evidence of a break-in: Christmas gifts he had purchased were opened, and his dog was locked in a bathroom. He described his dog as 'very jittery' after being confined. Uncertain about Combs' intentions, Mescudi contacted the police and filed a report.
Weeks later, Mescudi testified that his Porsche 911 convertible was set on fire while parked at his home. Photos displayed in court showed significant damage to the car's fabric roof and a Molotov cocktail discovered inside. Though no direct evidence linked Combs to the arson, prosecutors highlighted an email from Cassie stating that Combs threatened harm against Mescudi and herself.
The following day, Mescudi met with Combs and Cassie at the Soho House hotel in Los Angeles in an attempt to resolve tensions. He described Combs as 'calm' but 'off-putting,' comparing his posture to a 'Marvel supervillain.' When Mescudi confronted Combs about the car fire, Combs denied any involvement, responding with a 'cold stare' and saying, 'I don't know what you're talking about.'
Mescudi testified that despite his suspicions, he eventually made peace with the situation. Several years later, the two unexpectedly crossed paths again at the same hotel, where Combs offered an apology for 'all the bullsh#t,' which Mescudi accepted.
Under cross-examination, Combs' lawyer Brian Steel questioned Mescudi's account and portrayed Cassie as living a 'double life,' suggesting she had misled both men about her relationships. Mescudi acknowledged Cassie had not been honest about still seeing Combs while dating him and said he felt 'played' by her.
The trial continues as prosecutors present further allegations of abuse and retaliation tied to Combs, who denies all charges. Cassie Ventura's prior testimony detailed alleged years of abuse during her decade-long relationship with Combs.

Ryan Gosling 'White Black Panther Meme' resurfaces amid Marvel Comics' new Ketema revelation

Marvel's recent unveiling of a white character as the new Black Panther has reignited the long-running meme featuring Ryan Gosling as the iconic hero. In the first issue of Marvel Knights: The World To Come (2025), a bold twist sees T'Challa's son, Ketema, taking on the mantle of Black Panther—only to reveal himself as a white man, much to the surprise of fans. This revelation has reignited debates surrounding the character's identity and spurred the meme, which humorously features Gosling in the role of the Wakandan king. Ketema's unmasking as a white young man has raised eyebrows, particularly because Black Panther, in both comic lore and on-screen portrayals (such as by Chadwick Boseman and Letitia Wright), has historically been a Black African character. The reveal, as part of the Marvel Knights series, follows a politically charged storyline set in the wake of T'Challa's death, where Ketema, a product of T'Challa's relationship with Monica Lynne, assumes the throne after defeating his father in a challenge. However, the mystery surrounding Ketema's true parentage has fueled speculation. Some fans question if he is indeed T'Challa's biological son or if another explanation—such as genetic engineering or alternate realities—might be at play. As the character of Ketema steps into a new role in Wakanda, the viral meme depicting Gosling as Black Panther has resurfaced, as fans joke about the possibility of the actor embodying the character on screen. While this meme has circulated for years, with Gosling often being humorously suggested for the role, the comic's plot twist has breathed new life into this online trend. The meme's return reflects the ongoing conversation about the boundaries of cultural identity, legacy, and representation in popular media, especially within the context of Marvel's bold narrative choices. It remains to be seen whether future Marvel Knights issues will provide more clarity about Ketema's origins and his role in Wakanda's future. The controversy and discussion sparked by this creative decision underscore Marvel's willingness to challenge conventions and explore new narratives.

Marvel Tokon fighting souls announced by Arc System Works for PS5 in 2026

Marvel fans can look forward to a new fighting game developed by Arc System Works, the studio behind the acclaimed Dragon Ball FighterZ. Announced during the June 2025 Sony State of Play, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will feature popular Marvel heroes and villains in an exciting new 4v4 team-based fighting format. With Capcom stepping back from Marvel fighting games, Arc System Works brings fresh expertise to the franchise's legacy. Capcom's earlier titles, popular in the 1990s, faced challenges related to character licensing—especially around the X-Men—which contributed to the decline of Marvel fighting games over time. Arc System Works, known for fighting game franchises such as Guilty Gear, BlazBlue, and the Persona fighting game series, has a strong reputation for delivering visually stunning and well-balanced gameplay. Their work on Dragon Ball FighterZ was particularly praised for capturing the anime's aesthetic, raising expectations for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. The game will feature a robust lineup of characters and a new 4v4 team fighting system, offering fresh gameplay dynamics. So far, confirmed fighters include Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Ms. Marvel, Storm, Dr. Doom, and Ghost Rider, with more to be revealed. The 4v4 format allows players to build large teams, an ambitious approach that will test the developers' ability to maintain game balance. Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is set to release on PlayStation 5 in 2026. Fans can watch the debut trailer and a behind-the-scenes development video from the Sony State of Play event, available on The Game Awards' official YouTube channel.

Family of Colorado firebomb suspect taken into ICE custody, faces swift deportation

Listen to article The family of the Egyptian national charged with tossing gasoline bombs at a pro-Israeli rally in Colorado was taken into federal custody on Tuesday and could be quickly deported, officials said. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a social media video post that ICE had taken into custody the family of Mohamed Sabry Soliman, who lived in Colorado Springs and who federal officials have said was in the US illegally, having overstayed a tourist visa and an expired work permit. Noem said while Soliman will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, federal agents were also "investigating to what extent his family knew about this horrific attack – if they had any knowledge of it or if they provided any support for it." ICE did not immediately respond to a request for more details about the detention of Soliman's family. According to local media reports, Soliman's family included two teenagers and three younger children. FBI and police officials had said on Monday that the family had cooperated with investigators. The suspect told investigators he acted alone. The White House, in a social media post, said Soliman's family was in ICE's custody for "expedited removal" and that they "could be deported as early as tonight." Photo: Instagram Department of Homeland Security officials said Soliman entered the United States in August 2022 on a tourist visa, filed for asylum the following month, and remained in the country after his visa expired in February 2023. The Sunday attack in Boulder, Colorado, injured a dozen people, many of them elderly. The attack targeted people taking part in an event organized by Run for Their Lives, an organization devoted to drawing attention to the hostages seized during Hamas' 2023 attack on Israel. Soliman, 45, told investigators that he wanted to "kill all Zionist people" but had delayed committing the attack until after his daughter graduated from high school, according to state and federal court documents charging him with attempted murder, assault and a federal hate crime. Police and FBI affidavits quoted the suspect as saying he took firearms training to obtain a concealed-carry permit but ended up using Molotov cocktails because his noncitizen status blocked him from buying guns. Soliman told investigators that he had learned how to make the fire bombs from YouTube. A police affidavit filed in support of Soliman's arrest warrant said he was born in Egypt, lived in Kuwait for 17 years and moved three years ago to Colorado Springs, about 100 miles (161 km) south of Boulder, where he lived with his wife and five children. Federal and local authorities said at a Monday news conference in Boulder that Soliman had done nothing to draw law enforcement's attention before Sunday's attack. He was believed to have acted alone, they said. An affidavit said the suspect "threw two lit Molotov cocktails at individuals participating in the pro-Israel gathering," yelling, "Free Palestine" as they ignited in the crowd. The attack was the latest act of violence aimed at Jewish Americans linked to outrage over Israel's escalating military offensive in Gaza. It followed the fatal shooting of two Israeli Embassy aides that took place outside Washington's Capital Jewish Museum last month.
