It's officially crunch time for MLB clubs to make last-minute additions.
The 2025 MLB trade deadline arrives at 6 p.m. ET on Thursday, marking the last opportunity for teams to either go all-in on a playoff push or sell on high-end talent with their eyes on the future. This year, there aren't too many true superstars known to be available on what's become a seller's market, but there are still some captivating names who could be on the move.
In the National League, expect teams like the Dodgers, Mets, Phillies, Cubs, and Brewers to stock up on talent, especially in their bullpens, as they trend toward locking in playoff spots. In the American League, two division races could come down to deadline additions, as the AL East remains tight between the Blue Jays, Yankees, and Red Sox, while the Rangers and Mariners are eyeing the Astros' lead in the AL West.
The teams that choose to heavily sell could also wind up as huge deadline winners. Will the Orioles (47-58) bite on offers for Ramon Laureano or Cedric Mullins? Could the Diamondbacks (51-55) focus on 2026 by selling on Eugenio Suarez, Merrill Kelly, or Zac Gallen? Blue Jays acquire RHP Seranthony Dominguez from Orioles

The Athletic's Mitch Bannon reports that Toronto is trading for reliever Seranthony Dominguez from Baltimore, sending back pitching prospect Juaron Watts-Brown.
Dominguez has a 3.24 ERA and 54 strikeouts across 41.2 innings this season.
Dylan Cease a 'prime target' of Astros

Padres SP Dylan Cease is a "prime target" of the Astros, according to The Athletic, with Houston desperate for starting pitching after being hit hard by injuries. Framber Valdez and Hunter Brown have both been excellent this season, but the rest of the Astros' rotation has been a revolving door. With the Padres willing to listen on Cease, Houston will be a team to watch leading up to Thursday's deadline.
Sandy Alcantara market 'picking up drastically'

It's been unclear whether the Marlins would move on from their former Cy Young award winner, Sandy Alcantara, who has struggled this season. But Jim Bowden of CBS Sports and The Athletic reported Tuesday that the market for Alcantara is "picking up drastically," with a "real chance" the pitcher is moved before the deadline.
Padres, Phillies, Mets among suitors for Luis Robert Jr.

The White Sox have long been rumored to have interest in selling on outfielder Luis Robert Jr., and on Tuesday, Ken Rosenthal wrote that San Diego, Philadelphia and New York are the "prospective suitors" for Robert.
He added that teams are also virtually calling the White Sox's bluff in attempting to not giving up high-end prospects in a potential deal.
Blue Jays have talked to Pirates about bullpen additions

Pittsburgh's David Bednar and Dennis Santana have been frequently mentioned as top bullpen trade candidates, and MLB Network's Jon Morosi reported Tuesday that the Blue Jays "have discussed trade possibilities that would involve a reliever going to Toronto" with the Pirates.
Toronto sits atop the AL East with a 63-44 record.
Nolan Arenado has come up in Astros-Cardinals trade talks

Padres won't be 'pure sellers,' but could sell to help current team

The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal said Tuesday that San Diego, which sits at 58-49 and trails the Dodgers in the NL West by four games, will only sell "if it enabled them to get other pieces" that would help them in their 2025 playoff push.
"They're not pure sellers," Rosenthal said, mentioning Dylan Cease as a potential trade candidate if they do choose to re-tool by selling.
Emmanuel Clase situation 'ended any chance' of Guardians buying at deadline

The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reports that with Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase being put on the restricted list due to a gambling investigation, that effectively "ended any chance" of Cleveland buying at the deadline.
Rosenthal added that the Guardians basically "know" they won't be a playoff team with the ongoing investigations into their relievers, but they would have considered buying before.
Rosenthal also added in a piece for The Athletic that Cleveland is drawing "a ton of interest" in All-Star outfielder Steven Kwan, with the Dodgers, Blue Jays, Phillies and Padres believed to be in the mix. However, the Guardians would "set a high bar" for a potential return due to Kwan's age, club control and track record as an All-Star.
Tigers bolstering pitching staff with Twins' Chris Paddack, Randy Dobnak

Detroit is trading C/1B prospect Enrique Jimenez for two Twins pitchers, Chris Paddack and Randy Dobnak.
As the Tigers compete for the AL's best record, Paddack (111.0 innings, 4.95 ERA) will be an innings-eater on the back end of their rotation, while Dobnak (5.1 innings, 1.69 ERA) will report to Triple-A as a depth option.
The Tigers' move for pitching comes as Reese Olson, who had a 3.15 ERA in 13 starts this season, went down with a right shoulder strain that could end his 2025 regular season.
Rays acquire new catcher to replace Jansen from Marlins

As the Rays send out Danny Jansen, they're also trading for a new catcher, sending out prospect Matthew Etzel for Marlins backstop Nick Fortes.
Augustin Ramirez had taken over as Miami's starting catcher, allowing them to flip Fortes, a stronger defender than hitter with a career .225 average.

However, he did have a strong 2024 season between Chicago and St. Louis, and the Braves could use starting pitching right now with ongoing injuries to AJ Smith-Shawver, Spencer Schwellenbach, Chris Sale, and more.
Royals acquire OF Randal Grichuk from Diamondbacks

Kansas City traded for outfielder Randal Grichuk from Arizona in exchange for Triple-A RHP Andrew Hoffmann on Saturday.
Grichuk, a 12-year veteran, has hit .240 with seven home runs and 22 RBIs this season for the Diamondbacks.
Amed Rosario heading from Nationals to Yankees

After already acquiring Ryan McMahon, the Yankees got another infielder by trading for Washington's Amed Rosario. New York sent the Nationals prospects Clayton Beeter and Browm Martinez.
Rosario, a former top prospect with the Mets, is batting .270 with five home runs and a .736 OPS this season. Most of his damage has been done against left-handed pitchers, so the Yankees will likely deploy him in lineups against lefties more often.
Yankees acquire infielder Ryan McMahon from Rockies

The Yankees traded pitching prospects Griffin Herring and Josh Grosz in exchange for Rockies infielder Ryan McMahon on Friday.
McMahon, who is under contract for two more seasons, has hit 16 home runs this season and also provides New York with strong defense at third base. The left-handed hitter has totaled at least 20 homers in every season since 2021.
Mets trade for Orioles reliever Gregory Soto

Soto, 30, is a former two-time All-Star who hasn't been quite as excellent in recent seasons, but he has totaled a 3.96 ERA with 44 strikeouts for the Orioles this season.
Diamondbacks send 1B Josh Naylor to Mariners

As Seattle competes for either the AL West crown or a wild card spot, it bolstered its lineup, trading for Diamondbacks first baseman Josh Naylor while sending out prospects Brandyn Garcia and Ashton Izzi.
Naylor has hit .292 this season with 11 home runs and 59 RBIs. He'll add to a Mariners offense that could use some more power behind slugging catcher Cal Raleigh.
