Grounded 2 Surprisingly Revealed at Xbox Games Showcase 2025

Yahoo12-06-2025
At SGF 2025, Xbox unleashed their Xbox Games Showcase chock full of trailers and the next game from Obsidian, Grounded 2 was revealed.
The Xbox Games Showcase 2025 laid many surprises at Xbox fans' feet, including the official reveal of the upcoming ROG Xbox Ally. Xbox still had a lot more in store for players, and although Obsidian Entertainment had the The Outer Worlds 2 Direct that follows the Xbox Games Showcase, they revealed another sequel during the Xbox Games Showcase. Grounded 2 is coming, and the first reveal trailer can be seen below.
CGMagazine's review of the original Grounded called it 'a unique title with a simple premise, but a lot of meat on its bones' back when it launched in 2022. Instead of carving a live-service feel from the original Grounded from 2022 similar to how Xbox Studios handled RARE's Sea of Thieves, Xbox gave Obsidian Entertainment the green light to develop a full-fledged sequel. The original Grounded title was released two years after it entered early access for PlayStation, and although the trailer was brief, it made no mention of coming to the PlayStation platform.
Grounded 2 follows the premise of the original game, but this time, the adventurous party of select-a-character kids are navigating a local park, riding ants, running along picnic tables and fallen popsicles, and battling a bevy of spiders and scorpions instead of just exploring a massive backyard. Obsidian Entertainment has been on a tear lately with their releases, The Outer Worlds (and a sequel), Grounded, and the Pillars of Eternity universe spin-off with Avowed. Xbox continues to greenlight many of the studio's upcoming projects.
Interestingly enough, Grounded 2 is not only in development, but it's launching into Xbox Game Preview and Steam Early Access on July 29, 2025. Fans looking for more SGF 2025 coverage, can head to CGMagazine for all of it!

Beloved PlayStation Video Game Getting Movie

has released several TV shows and films based on its beloved franchises. From The Last of Us to Until Dawn, the company doesn't seem afraid to bring even its less popular properties to life. That notion seems to continue if a recent report is believed to be true. The Last Guardian film is in the works According to video games insider DanielRPK, Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions are making a film adaptation of Fumito Ueda's acclaimed PS4 action-adventure game, The Last Guardian. There are no additional details about the project, which may indicate that the film is in the early stages of development. Fumito Ueda is an iconic and influential game developer known for the critically acclaimed games Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. His games are known for a distinct style, featuring vast landscapes with gameplay that complements their unique storytelling. In terms of cinematics, a film based on The Last Guardian has the potential to look incredible. How they attempt to tell that tale without the viewer making that connection with Trico, the ginormous dog bird that helps the player move through the ancient ruins, through gameplay will be interesting to see. For those unaware of The Last Guardian, here is a brief description of the game: 'In a strange and mystical land, a young boy discovers a mysterious creature with which he forms a deep, unbreakable bond. The unlikely pair must rely on each other to escape towering, treacherous ruins filled with unknown dangers. Experience the journey of a lifetime in this touching, emotional story of friendship and trust.' When The Last Guardian launched for PS4 back in 2016, it was met with favorable reviews. According to the review aggregate site Metacritic, it garnered an average score of 82 across 110 critic reviews. In our review, we gave it a 10 out of 10. As mentioned earlier, PlayStation Productions has released several projects based on its iconic catalog of games. The last film the company released was based on the Supermassive horror adventure game Until Dawn, and is currently available to stream on Netflix. The last television series released was Twisted Metal Season 2, which is currently seven episodes in and is available to stream on Peacock. The company also has Horizon, God of War, and Ghost of Tsushima adaptations in the works. Originally reported by Michael Ruiz on PlayStation LifeStyle. Employee discovers original gaming console in company trash: 'They still sell for quite a bit'

If you're a video game enthusiast, you'd be surprised at what you can find in your local e-waste dumpster. One Reddit user shared their haul in r/OriginalXbox, much to the envy of commenters. What happened? The original poster stated that they found an Xbox, complete with several games and controllers, in the e-waste dumpster outside their workplace. "It baffles me someone would put this thing in an e-waste when they still sell for quite a bit in Australia as gaming wasn't too big here when this console came out," the OP wrote. A photo shows the incredible find, and despite its age, the system looks relatively new. However, the poster noted that the system does have a few glitches, such as needing to power on the Xbox with the eject button, the fan being loud, and discs not always being read correctly. Still, commenters assured the OP that some of these issues could be fixed with a little TLC. "Open it up, YouTube videos, replace the capacitors, clean it up," one person suggested. "To me that's just sad how they throw away these retro games. Some ppl just don't understand how good these old game consoles are now smh," another said. "The stuff people throw away sometimes is just wild," someone else shared. "No doubt countless perfectly operational valuable and priceless things go to waste all the time." Why does e-waste matter? Electronic waste is one of the worst forms of pollution because it leaches toxic metals into the air and soil. In some ways, it's worse than plastic because of the extent of chemical pollution and the fact that e-waste is often more challenging and costly to recycle. Because of these difficulties in handling e-waste, only about a quarter is recycled worldwide each year, according to a United Nations report. In turn, the global economy suffers from the loss of valuable metals such as gold, copper, and silver. What do you usually do with your old electronics? Store them at home Donate them Trade them for cash Throw them away Click your choice to see results and speak your mind. Sircel reported that an estimated $57 billion is lost annually when these materials aren't recovered, leading to higher labor and production costs. If electronics were properly recycled, it would put much less strain on the environment and benefit businesses and consumers as well. Electronic waste also harms humans, especially in developing countries, since the majority of electronics are shipped there for processing. Women and children who work in informal recycling centers are often exposed to thousands of harmful chemicals, which can result in lung and reproductive problems, per the World Health Organization. Are companies doing anything about this? Several major retailers, including Amazon, Apple, and Best Buy, offer trade-in programs that allow customers to exchange unwanted electronics for perks such as store credit or cash back. If the traded devices aren't eligible for credit or cannot be refurbished, they're recycled for free. What else is being done about e-waste? Technological solutions for electronic pollution are also springing up. For instance, some companies are adding mechanical arms to recycling facilities to increase productivity and efficiency, and artificial intelligence-powered robots are also being employed to handle more e-waste. If you have any gadgets hiding in your junk drawers, consider sending them to the startup Trashie with its innovative Tech Take Back Box. It will take care of recycling the items and give you awesome rewards in return, including discounts on shoes and clothing, and food delivery credits. There are endless ways to make money off your old electronics, so choose the method that works best for you.
