Aamir Khan defends son Junaid Khan's Maharaj and Loveyapa performances, says he refuses his help: ‘His career matters to me more than mine'
While talking to News18, the actor stated that he was proud of his son's performances and said, 'I think he's a pretty good actor. I'm really proud of the fact that he's done his job really well in both films.' He shifted his attention to Junaid's debut role as Karsandas Mulji in Maharaj and stated that his son was able to completely mould himself into the character. 'That sincerity and innocence he brought to the role was really beautiful,' added Aamir.

Aware of the nepotism debate that is prevalent in the industry, Aamir pointed out that he has never helped his son land a role and added that Junaid himself refuses to ask for any assistance regarding his career. He said, 'He's used none of my help ever. He still doesn't have a car as we speak. He wants to make his own career.' The actor added that after completing an acting course, Junaid went door to door, looking for a gig, and that he auditioned for many films, including Mira Nair's A Suitable Boy. Aamir admitted that he is protective of his son and wants to help him because 'his career matters to me more than mine,' but that Junaid refuses any kind of help.
Junaid will be next seen in the film Ek Din, alongside Sai Pallavi, which Aamir deems to be a role that is completely different from anything he has done before. He said, 'He's done three totally different films. One is Maharaj, a risk in himself. Then there's the Gucci-wearing harami character, who is so far from who he is. And now this love story. He's stepping out of his comfort zone from the start, which I hadn't done in my early career.' Aamir added that even though success has not 'hit' his son yet, Junaid isn't one to quit and will keep fighting until he makes it.
On the other hand, Aamir is gearing up for the release of Sitaare Zameen Par, which is a sequel to his 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, a film that gained Aamir an immense amount of love and respect.

Kanika Kapoor Makes Shocking Claim, Says Singers Don't Get Paid: ‘Rs 101 Milte Hain'
Baby Doll singer Kanika Kapoor recently talked about the harsh reality of the Indian music industry, and stated that most singers are not paid for their songs. Singer Kanika Kapoor, most famously known for her songs such as Baby Doll and Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan, recently make some shocking claims about the Indian music industry. He talked about the harsh reality of the industry, and said that most singers in Bollywood are not paid for their songs. She revealed that she has her own contracts as proof, showing that singers are often paid a token amount of as little as Rs 101. According to her, the industry frames it as if they're doing the singer a favour. While Kanika didn't take names, she revealed that even the greatest singer in India isn't receiving proper compensation, royalties, or publishing rights for their biggest hits. On 'Bunkk With Uorfi,' Kanika Kapoor was asked to name someone who has given her a hard time in the industry. The singer replied, 'Everybody." Uorfi then asked, 'I know you did a song that went really viral, but you were not paid for it." Kanika replied, 'I don't think any singer is really paid for songs in this industry. It's only now maybe some independent music but…" When asked whether singers are really not paid, she replied, 'No. Singers don't really get paid. Main saare contracts dikhaati hu, 101 rupees mile hain. (I can show you all the contracts. I was paid Rs 101). They say that they are doing you a favour. I can talk to you about the greatest singer of India. I am not going to give names, but very obvious. I don't think that even he is being paid for most of his greatest songs ever. Or has any publishing, or has any royalty structure. there is nothing like that in India today." Kanika Kapoor On How Singers Make Money Despite Not Being Paid For Their Songs She then added that the only way singers make money is through their live shows. However, they had no pension or long-term financial support for singers in India. 'Only if you are alive and you are able to sing, agar aapki awaaz chal rahi hai, aur aap shows kar paa rahe hain. Jab tak aap shows kar paa rahe hain, tab tak aapko paise milenge. Kal ko kuchh ho jaaye to koi pension plan nahi hai singers ke liye. ('As long as your voice is working and you're able to perform shows, you'll keep earning. But if something happens tomorrow, there's no pension plan for singers)." When asked again whether singers truly don't get paid for their songs, Kanika clarified that while she hasn't seen everyone's contracts, the reality is — they don't. 'Nothing. 101 Rs milte hain," she said. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
