All Pakistani nationals have left Bihar ahead of the April 27 deadline
The Bihar government on Saturday said that all Pakistani nationals, who had been in the state in the recent past, have left well ahead of the April 27 deadline. A total of 19 Pakistani nationals, who came to different districts of Bihar on visit visas and tourist visas left the state either on April 25 or before that, as per data provided by the state government. The details pertain to those Pakistani nationals who visited the state after January 2025 on different visas.

Additional Chief Secretary, Home Department, Arvind Kumar Chaudhary told PTI, "Districts have reported that no more Pakistani nationals are left in the state who are yet to return. Only those Pakistani nationals who are on medical visas and long-term visas (LTVs) are currently staying in the state. Medical visas issued to Pakistani nationals will be valid only till April 29."
While three Pakistani nationals who had come to Siwan district on visit visa left the state on April 25, another Pakistani national who had come to visit Patna on the same visit visa already left the state on April 21.

Prior to this, five Pakistani nationals who had come to visit Darbhanga on visit visa left the state on April 20. Similarly, five Pakistani nationals who visited Saran district on visit visas left the state on March 24.
Another Pakistani national, who visited Begusarai on a visit visa, left Bihar on March 15. Four more Pakistani nationals who had visited Muzaffarpur and Jamui districts (two in each district) on visit visas and tourist visas, left the state on February 28 and February 24 respectively, as per the details.

The Bihar government on Friday directed the officials concerned to ensure that no Pakistani citizen stays in India beyond the deadline set by the Centre.
"In continuation of the decisions taken by the Central government to suspend visa services to Pakistani nationals with immediate effect in the wake of the
Pahalgam terror attack
, all concerned officials of the districts, including District Magistrates/SSPs/SPs are directed to by the state Home department to ensure that Centre's decision is effectively enforced," said a statement issued by the Information and Public Relations department (IPRD) of the state government on Friday.
As per the Centre's decision, all existing valid visas issued by India to Pakistani nationals stand revoked with effect from April 27. Medical visas issued to Pakistani nationals will be valid only till April 29, it said.
Meanwhile, Patna Police issued a statement on Friday claiming, "All Pakistani nationals who are staying in Patna are women. While 24 women Pakistani nationals are staying on LTVs, three have surrendered their passports to take Indian citizenship. One Pakistani woman has been booked by Patna Police against whom trial is on here."

Supreme Court warns governments against invoking stringent laws as tool of harassment

It said the accused were arrested and booked under various provisions of IPC for vandalising a shop owned by a person who had put an "incendiary" social media post. "It is a cardinal principle of criminal jurisprudence that extraordinary penal provisions, particularly those that substantially abridge regular procedural safeguards, must be invoked based on evidence that meets a threshold of credibility and substantiality. The materials relied upon must establish a reasonable nexus between the accused and the alleged criminal activity, demonstrating actual probability of involvement rather than mere theoretical possibility. When a statute creates serious fetters on personal liberty, the evidentiary foundation for its invocation must be commensurately strong, supported by concrete, verifiable facts rather than vague assertions."

Modi snubs Trump, declines US invite
Kananaskis/New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has declined an invitation from US President Donald Trump to visit Washington, citing pre-scheduled commitments. The request was made as Modi prepared to return from Canada, according to Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. 'President Trump asked PM Modi if he could stop by the United States on his way back from Canada. Due to pre-scheduled commitments, Modi expressed his inability to do so,' Misri said in a statement to reporters. PM Modi was in Canada for the G7 Summit. In a nearly 35-minute phone call with Trump, Modi has told Trump that India and Pakistan halted their military actions last month following direct talks between their militaries without any mediation by the US, calling out the American leader's narrative that he brokered the ceasefire. Modi firmly stated that India does not and will "never accept" mediation and that the discussions between Indian and Pakistani militaries on cessation of military actions were initiated at Islamabad's request, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said. Modi also said that India no longer views "terrorism as a proxy war, but as a war itself", and that India's Operation Sindoor is still ongoing, the Foreign Secretary said. The cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan was first announced by President Trump on May 10. Since then, the US President has been claiming that he brokered the ceasefire deal by threatening to stop trade with both countries if they do not agree to stop the conflict. The May 7-10 military clashes between India and Pakistan figured prominently during the phone conversation. "Prime Minister Modi clearly conveyed to President Trump that at no point during this entire sequence of events was there any discussion, at any level, on an India-US trade deal, or any proposal for a mediation by the US between India and Pakistan," Misri said. "The discussion to cease military action took place directly between India and Pakistan through the existing channels of communication between the two armed forces, and it was initiated at Pakistan's request," Misri said, sharing key points of the Modi-Trump meeting. The Foreign Secretary said Modi "firmly stated that India does not and will never accept mediation" and that there is complete political consensus in India on this matter. PM Modi told President Trump in clear terms that after the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, India had conveyed its determination to take action against terrorism to the whole world. Modi told Trump that India had only targeted the terrorist camps and hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, adding India's actions were very measured, precise, and non-escalatory, according to Misri. Both leaders agreed to make efforts to meet in the near future," he said. The two leaders also discussed the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. "Both leaders agreed that for peace in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, direct dialogue between the two parties is essential, and continued efforts should be made to facilitate this," Misri said.
