PLUS shuts southbound Serdang R&R to heavy vehicles for upgrading until July 31
In a statement, PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) said the heavy vehicles access route into the R&R area will be closed in stages from 8am today until midnight on July 31, 2025, to make way for upgrading works for the comfort of highway users.
'As such, heavy vehicle drivers are advised to use the nearest available parking facilities as an alternative during the maintenance period.
'However, other facilities and parking for Class 1 vehicles at the R&R will continue to operate as usual,' the statement read.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys using the PLUS App for up-to-date traffic information and to follow all traffic signs and instructions from PLUS personnel when passing through the affected area.
The latest traffic updates can be obtained via the PUTRI Virtual Assistant, X@plustrafik App, and electronic signboards at selected locations, or by contacting the PLUSLine at 1800-88-0000 for emergency assistance. — Bernama

Car driven by woman in her 80s crashes into parked vehicles and school fence near Sungai Merah bazaar in Sibu, no injuries reported
SIBU, July 12 — A car driven by an elderly woman in her 80s crashed into a school fence behind a priest's residence near the Sungai Merah bazaar early this morning. The incident, which occurred around 7am, reportedly began when the woman was reversing her vehicle near a coffee shop in the area. According to eyewitnesses, the car suddenly struck a table and several chairs in front of the shop before careening into two motorcycles parked by the roadside. The vehicle then collided with the rear of a four-wheel drive and a Perodua Kancil before coming to a halt after crashing into the fence of a primary school compound behind the priest's house. ‘Everything's gone': Veteran mechanic mourns loss as Taman Pandan fire destroys workshop, seven other shops and three cars
JOHOR BARU, July 12 — A fire that broke out at Jalan Waja 5, Taman Pandan, destroyed eight semi-permanent shop lots, including a motorcycle workshop that had been operating for 25 years. The workshop owner, who wanted to be known only as Wong, 60, was stunned as he watched his source of livelihood go up in flames in the 5.10 pm fire. 'I left the workshop around 3.30 pm. Not long after, someone called to tell me that the workshop was on fire. By the time I arrived, the flames were already raging. I couldn't save anything,' he told Bernama at the scene, adding that three motorcycles belonging to customers that were undergoing repairs at the workshop were also destroyed. 'Everything's gone. I've been running this workshop for 25 years. I'm truly heartbroken,' he said, adding that he has since contacted the affected customers to inform them of the incident.
