What are the new updates for Top Gun 3, Transformers, and Star Trek?
As part of a new report from Deadline on the merger and what Paramount's movie priorities are moving forward, several big-name franchises got updates. Firstly, the world of Star Trek, which Deadline reports is a 'high priority' for Skydance and Paramount. The report mentions that two films are in development, one of which has Andor director Toby Haynes attached, while the other is said to feature Captain Kirk, Spock, and other characters returning, with J.J. Abrams producing both.
As for the world of Top Gun, co-chair of the newly merged Skydance and Paramount Dana Goldberg (who previously served as Paramount's Vice Chair of Platforms and Chair of Paramount Television) said that Top Gun remains 'a priority.' Although it hasn't been officially announced, a third film is said to be in development, and Deadline's report hinted that it could be the next project Tom Cruise joins.
Finally, in the world of Transformers, Paramount seems very invested in the iconic franchise. Deadline's report mentions that, prior to the merger, three separate Transformers projects were in development. This included one that would bring Michael Bay back to the franchise, and Deadline noted that the three projects are nearly ready to be looked at by Paramount's new leadership.
Earlier this year, a report from Puck revealed that Bay was ready to make his return to the world of Transformers. Bay reportedly pitched a new movie to Paramount and intends to return as a 'hands-on producer,' although no official information on the movie is known as of now.

The 2x Oscar winner recently explained that although he 'was very happy' with what he wrote originally as an eight-part series and then translated into a feature-length script but 'wasn't really that excited' when it came time for pre-production. Can I take the most boring profession in the world and make it an interesting movie?' 'Every Tarantino title promises so much, except The Movie Critic,' he explained. 'Who wants to see a TV show about a f***ing movie critic? Who wants to see a movie called The Movie Critic? If I can actually make a movie or a TV show about somebody who watches movies interesting, that is an accomplishment. 'It's a spiritual sequel to Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood in so far as they take place in the same world and they take place in the same town. But there were no crossover characters. Cliff Booth was never in The Movie Critic. That's all a bunch of bull****. That never was the case ever, ever, ever.' Tarantino added, 'I was so excited about the writing, but I wasn't really that excited about dramatizing what I wrote once we were in pre-production.' After The Movie Critic was teased as Tarantino's farewell film in 2023, with Brad Pitt attached to star, Deadline exclusively reported last April that the auteur simply had a change of heart and opted not to move forward with the project. Sources close to the director said he was going back to the drawing board to figure out what that final movie will be. Tarantino said the movie was set in 1977 California, 'based on a guy who really lived but was never really famous, and he used to write movie reviews for a porno rag.' Although a spiritual sequel to Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood (2019) isn't in the cards for Tarantino's final directorial outing, Pitt is reprising his role as stuntman Cliff Booth for the upcoming Netflix movie off-shoot The Adventures of Cliff Booth, directed by David Fincher. Sean Kingston Sentenced to 42 Months in Prison for Fraud Scheme Topping $1 Million
Sean Kingston was sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison Friday after he and his mother were convicted of defrauding multiple vendors of more than $1 million in luxury items ranging from high-end watches to a bulletproof Cadillac Escalade. In a filing earlier this week, the 'Beautiful Girls' singer pleaded with the judge to spare him any time behind bars. Kingston, 35, urged the judge to reject the five-to-six years in federal detention recommended by probation officials and sentence him to home detention along with an order to pay restitution. The judge set a restitution hearing for Oct. 16. 'We are content that the court did not go with the government's request of five years and sentenced Sean below the sentencing guidelines instead,' Kingston's lawyer Zeljka Bozanic said in a statement sent to Rolling Stone. 'It is important to note that most of the restitution in this case was paid back, even before these charges were brought. Sean is taking this as a learning experience and will continue moving forward in a positive direction. We are actively reviewing all available options, including potential appeals, to ensure his rights are fully protected.' Kingston, whose legal name is Kisean Anderson, argued in a Monday court filing that leniency was warranted in his case because he had accepted responsibility for his actions, his crimes were non-violent, and several family members depend on him financially. He also cited his history of charitable work. 'Mr. Anderson is deeply remorseful for his conduct and involvement in this scheme and has had time to step back and reflect on his actions and how to make amends,' the filing said. 'Mr. Anderson accepted responsibility in this case and has made all the positive steps toward learning and growing from this situation.' At a separate hearing last month, Kingston's mother, Janice Turner, was sentenced to five years in prison and three years of probation. Turner apologized to the court for her conduct. 'I'm sorry. My intention was to keep my son afloat in this difficult industry,' she said. 'They used him and abused him. I am begging for mercy for me and my son.' Kingston and his mother were indicted last year on charges they engaged in a wire fraud scheme between April 2023 and March 2024. Prosecutors said Anderson reached out to his victims online and negotiated the purchase of high-end merchandise such as the Escalade, jewelry, and a massive, 232-inch LED TV. Officials said Anderson would invite the victims to his high-end homes in the Broward County area and use his celebrity status to lull them into trusting him. When payment was due for the merchandise, Anderson or his mother would text the victims fake wire receipts, according to court filings. When the funds never materialized, the victims filed lawsuits or turned to law enforcement. A jury convicted the mother-son duo after less than four hours of deliberations on March 28. According to Florida outlet Local10, Turner was immediately remanded to federal custody as Anderson cried out, 'Protect my mother.' Kingston burst onto the music scene at age 17 in 2007 when his monster hit 'Beautiful Girls' – a reggae-infused pop single that sampled the 1961 song 'Stand by Me' by Ben E.
