Harrogate and Selby restaurant owners invited to join Restaurant Week
Restaurant and café owners are being encouraged to join the Restaurant Week scheme. The initiative, which is intended as a spotlight on the food and hospitality industry and which offers visitors the chance to try "new places, menus, and dishes at tempting prices," will be active in Selby, Tadcaster, Sherburn-in-Elmet, and the Harrogate area from October 6 to 12. Councillor Mark Crane, North Yorkshire Council's executive member for open to business, said: "North Yorkshire is renowned for its excellent food and drink, and we want to showcase the best of what the Selby and Harrogate areas have to offer. "The week of offers is held during what is normally a quieter time of the year to encourage footfall into our hospitality businesses, and I would encourage the restaurants, cafés, and tearooms from across the area to get involved." Visit North Yorkshire, North Yorkshire Council's destination marketing and management service, organises Restaurant Week. Graham Usher, the managing director of The Drovers Arms restaurant and country pub, in Skipwith, near Selby, said: "There is such an amazing choice of restaurants and eateries in the local vicinity, and this is a great opportunity to bring them all together and showcase for a week to residents and visitors what is available." Harrogate Restaurant Week will once again be supported by the Harrogate Business Improvement District (BID), which is covering costs for its members following a successful partnership with Visit North Yorkshire last year.
