Star-studded line-up for Palestine benefit concert at Wembley Arena revealed
The line-up for the Palestine benefit concert at Wembley Arena overseen by Brian Eno includes top Palestinian and British artists, who are raising funds for Choose Love, a British charity supporting Gaza One of the largest-scale benefit concerts for Palestine is set to take place on September 17 at Wembley Arena. Titled Together for Palestine, the benefit is being overseen by Brian Eno, bringing together Palestinian and British artists for the concert. The concert will raise funds for British charity Choose Love, who are working with 23 partner organisations in Gaza delivering food, medical supplies and other areas of support. Top UK artists including Bastille, Cat Burns, Mabel, and Paloma Faith are just a few who will grace the stage along with Palestinian musicians Adnan Joubran, Faraj Suleiman and Nai Barghouti. There will be "one-off contributions" from Rina Sawayama, PinkPantheress and Riz Ahmed. Brian Eno explained the importance of the concert: "In the face of the horrors of Gaza, silence becomes complicity. Artists have always helped societies to point out injustice and imagine better futures. That's why this concert matters. It's time for us to come together - not just to raise our voices, but to reaffirm our shared humanity." The concert is being produced by Khaled Ziada, founder and director of the London Palestine film festival alongside Eno and Tracey Seaward, who was the film producer for the London 2012 Olympic opening ceremony. Ziada commented on the silence of "governments and mainstream media" and how "in the face of genocide, this gathering becomes a chorus of resistance - where artists and communities come together to grieve, to rage and to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Palestinian people." For more stories like this subscribe to our weekly newsletter, The Weekly Gulp, for a curated roundup of trending stories, poignant interviews, and viral lifestyle picks from The Mirror's Audience U35 team delivered straight to your inbox. Es Devlin, who is in charge of the concert's production design and is an Olivier and Tony award-winning stage designer, has designed shows for theatre and pop shows for Beyoncé, The Weeknd and Lady Gaga. Devlin is working with Malak Mattar, a Palestinian artist, and described how the Wembley Arena stage will express "the rich beauty of Palestinian culture". Other artists set to perform also commented on their reasons joining the concert. Rachel Chinouriri, who supported Sabrina Carpenter's tour, encouraged other musicians to join her in "building a bridge to victims in Gaza and beyond, we must break through the privilege of our bubble and speak with truth and justice." Damon Albarn also voiced how "Pacifism is an action. Peace is an action. To live peacefully requires vision and commitment." Albarn continued, expressing how grateful he is "for this opportunity to act in solidarity with the Palestinian people." Help us improve our content by completing the survey below. Nicola Walker detective series axed after two series and fans will be gutted
Nicola Walker detective series axed after two series and fans will be gutted The BBC has axed the detective series after it ended on a cliffhanger. Nicola Walker's beloved TV detective Annika, will not be making a comeback for a third series on the BBC. The 55-year-old star brought DI Annika Strandhed to life across two series of the detective drama, also titled Annika. Nevertheless, UKTV, which broadcasts the programme on U+Alibi and BBC, has announced that despite the series concluding with a cliffhanger, there are no current intentions to create additional episodes. A representative informed "We are incredibly proud of the success of Annika on U+Alibi, but there are no current plans for a third series." Annika originated from the BBC Radio 4 audio drama, Annika Strandhed, where Nicola also voiced the principal character. Nicola Walker stars as DI Annika Strandhed (Image: BBC) The programme was renowned for its distinctive style, with the Marine Homicide Unit detective regularly breaking the fourth wall to speak directly to viewers. The drama saw Annika leading the fictional Glasgow-based Marine Homicide Unit, with the cast consisting of Katie Leung as DC Blair Ferguson, Jamie Sives as DS Michael McAndrews, Ukweli Roach as DS Tyrone Clarke and Kate Dickie as DCI Diane Oban. Doctor Who star Varada Sethu also joined as DC Harper Weston in season two, while Paul McGann played Annika's love interest Jake Strathearn, and Silvie Furneaux was her daughter, Morgan. Annika's axe comes despite its impressive Rotten Tomatoes rating, with an 83% score and a 96% audience rating. The hit series has been axed and won't return for future seasons (Image: UKTV) "Wow, just wow. Bring on season 3," one person had said. Another added: "The marvellous Nicola Walker never disappoints, another great British crime drama. Scottish setting is beautiful." Someone else praised: "Oh my god this show is so underrated, it's so funny and Nicola Walker just makes it a 10/10." Another wrote: "I love this show. It is so understated but the humour really catches you unawares and I find myself laughing sometimes before I realise why. The breaking down of the four wall brings helps the viewer feel as if they are included and during those moments in which Annika speaks to us I find myself learning new things which is unusual for a crime show." This follows several programmes facing cancellation over recent days. Annika's cancellation comes after its impressive Rotten Tomatoes rating (Image: BBC) Noel Edmonds' Kiwi Adventures is allegedly not being commissioned for a second series, whilst Adam and Ryan Thomas' gameshow 99 to Beat has similarly been scrapped. Article continues below Adam commented on the cancellation: "When I am positive about something, it gets cancelled. Honestly, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Like I did [I'm a Celebrity spin off] Extra Camp presenting, did one series of that, got cancelled. "The next presenting job I did was with Ryan, 99 to Beat, and that's got cancelled," reports the Express. Annika is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.

The couple tied the knot six months later in a three-day Indian wedding in 2009 which Anita had previously described as 'bonkers'. Now, the single star has been seen with a mystery man looking cosy, as they attended a gig. The TV star was seen watching Lankum and Mogwai at South Facing Festival in Crystal Palace park. The star rocked a casual look in a pink and red striped top and shorts, and was pictured walking besides a man in a denim top, appearing to hold hands. A source told The Sun: 'Anita and this bloke were clearly very close and more than just friends - she was wrapped around him in the VIP area then they walked off into the crowd together looking really happy.' Anita's rep had no comment when approached by The Sun. She had previously called being single 'uncharted territory' when the couple first split. With their busy work schedules said to be a contributing factor, she moved into her former London flat purchased 20 years prior. Anita Rani falls in love with property in Dungeness after marriage split At the time she was juggling a jam-packed work schedule, which included the launch of her debut novel, Baby Does A Runner, about a British Asian woman in search of her identity, in July 2023. When the news broke she told The Sun at the time: "It's liberating that people know that I'm single now." "Not everything works out. Things come to their natural conclusion. That is absolutely fine." She also said at the time that there was 'no shame' in being single and living your best life in your 40s. "There is light, and the light is good!" "I'm single. I'm child-free, I'm in my mid-40s and I have never felt better, sexier, more powerful or more excited about the future." She also told how she was paying attention to her own needs: "I'm just making sure I take time out to do things I want to do." "I'm very aware that, with the things I want to do in life, I'd quite like to do them now and not wait." "I kind of live by the mantra of 'life is too short'." She continued: "This is a new chapter in my life but I'm ready to open that book and see what's in store for me because the future is exciting." "My philosophy is 'the best is yet to come'."
