This Is The Air Dry Cream I Swear By For My Frizz-Prone Hair

Graziadaily20-05-2025

It's official. I have finally hit on my dream summer hair. Tousled, soft waves with bounce and shine, my hair has never looked so summer-ready and effortless. Getting to this point, though, has required considerable effort. For the past year I've been trialling air dry creams and salt sprays, all of which have promised to deliver a good-to-go hair look without the need of a hairdryer, curling tong or straightening iron. None quite made the cut until the Living Proof Style Lab Air-Dry Styler, £27, landed on my desk. Housed unassumingly in a plain black tube, it proved to be the best of the best for my long hair. Scroll on for my full review.
The Living Proof Style Lab Air Dry Styler promises to work with the hair's natural texture to keep frizz and flyaways at bay. The formula is made with algae-based polymer and bentonite clay, both of which work together to smooth unruly strands and provide a touch of hold - it's a fine balance, but one this cream gets just right. All that without heat damage. Or the dreaded 'crunch.' 1.
Living Proof Style Lab Air-Dry Styler
Living Proof say: 'An air-dry hair cream to give you smoother-looking locks without the need for heat activation.'
What we know: A brand new launch from Living Proof, this styling cream has been designed to enhance your hair's natural texture while keeping frizz and flyaways at bay thanks to algae-based polymer and bentonite clay.
Rachael Martin, beauty editor says: 'As someone with dry, damaged hair that straddles the line between wavy and straight, finding an air dry cream has been nothing short of a total hassle. This one, however, is worth every single penny. Scrunch now, thank me later.' Pros Huge tube
A little goes a long way
Non greasy Cons Needs a good shake before applying or product doesn't mix adequately
'I'll be honest. I didn't have high hopes here. When it comes to air drying creams my hair just doesn't play ball. Instead of the loose, tousled waves they so often promise, my hair is usually left looking lank and stringy. This, however? I am so impressed. I took a dinky sized lab sample bottle on my holiday last year, purchasing the full size bottle as soon as it launched. The process is a refreshingly simple one. After washing my hair as normal, I squeeze out the excess water before shaking the bottle (very important to ensure it's mixed together properly) and applying a 50p sized dollop into the palms of my hands. I then rub my hands together to ensure an even spread before gently scrunching the cream through my lengths and ends. With any excess, I'll flatten my hands across the top of my hair and pat down gently to settle down the halo of flyaways that so often form. So far, so easy. But how does it fare? As a gal well acquainted with a greasy scalp, I'm impressed. The texture is creamy, but featherlight - there's not a hint of tackiness.'
'My hair does take a while to air dry - a couple of hours, at least. And if I touch my hair before it's fully dry - even after applying Living Proof - it's game over. The natural oils present in my palms seem to wreak havoc where frizz and flyaways are concerned. When I resist twiddling and twirling, however? That's when the magic really happens. The finish is exactly the kind I've been hoping to achieve. There's no grease at the roots, and no dulled-down colour. My hair isn't smooth and polished. Instead, it's soft and full of bounce and movement. My natural waves are defined and, crucially, my flyaways and frizz are barely noticeable. My colour is brighter and fresher. It's all very undone - but artfully so.'

In response, another person wrote: "I brought one of these last Friday for £49.99 and yes it does come with a stand." One user commented: "I've got the cream one I love it! Yet to find a stand for it though, they're four separate bits for about £13 each in home bargains." Another user replied to the comment about the stand, saying: "Put it through a hole in your table. That's what I've done!" 4 The Outdoor Living Collection Crank & Tilt Parasol is on offer for half price Credit: Facebook/BARGAIN LOVERS 🛍 Poundland, Home Bargains, B&M, Primark, The Range & More 4 It is available in navy, light grey, dark grey and ecru Credit: Home Bargains 4 The canopy spans 2.7 metres Credit: Home Bargains It comes as a former royal gardener, Jack Stooks, revealed to The Sun four garden trends that he does not endorse. Jack, who worked at the Highgrove Estate for over 20 years, said his first pet peeve is grass chairs or sofas. "You had these turf-like seats in the garden, which might sound like a great idea," he said. "I think you even used to be able to buy the innards made out of cardboard that you'd fill with soil and then you'd plant grass seed over - they're a bit cringey. "They don't ever really do that well. You can never really sit in them and people don't tend to anyway because the grass is always either wet or it's too dry and then it just becomes sort of like a muddy patch." Peter O'Mahony's wife Jessica gives Instagram followers tour around garden The second that he mentions is pampas grass - a huge trend back in the '70s. The third cringe-worthy trend is, in Jack's view, a garden filled with gnomes. "Maybe just stick to having one or two gnomes," he said. Finally, Jack is not a fan of themed gardens. He said: "For example, when people go off to Disney, and then come back and think that their garden should be Disneyland-themed and try to re-create this in their garden. "Or they go to see a movie, like Titanic, and they might try and create this in their garden. "It just reminds me of a crazy golf course - but in a garden! "Just stick to a classic garden, as nothing beats those in my opinion."

We're rent & mortgage free at 30 after building our own tiny home – we barely did any DIY & now have our dream property

Scroll down to find out whether having a tiny home is legal in the UK HOUSE THAT We're rent & mortgage free at 30 after building our own tiny home – we barely did any DIY & now have our dream property Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A COUPLE have revealed that they are now rent and mortgage free, at just 30-years-old, after building their own tiny home. Lexie and Jed had hardly any DIY experience when they embarked on their huge project, but still managed to create their dream off-grid home. 2 Lexie and Jed are rent and mortgage free at 30 2 They built an entire tiny home themselves The couple said that a lot of blood, sweat and tears went in to the project, but thanks to a basic five-week building course taken by Jed, they were able to finish it without any major hiccups. Lexie first got the idea to build the tiny home after being inspired by content creators on YouTube. "I love caravan holidays and it really fit into my desire to live sustainably and in a small space," she told Living Big in a Tiny House. Jed then encouraged Lexie to build her own house, as he could see how passionate she was. The house took a total of one and a half years to build, and was completed just before Lexie's 30th birthday. The tiny home is two and a half metres wide, eight metres long and 4.3 metres high, meaning that the couple can transport it on the back of a van if they want to relocate. Lexie and Jed's house is almost entirely off-grid, and is powered by solar panels which they have attached to a nearby shipping container. They collect rainwater in a barrel to use for washing, and have a compost toilet, which Jed passionately built themselves. As the couple live in sunny Australia, they are able to wash in an outdoor solar shower. "It's a great way to have a shower with a view," Lexie said. Amazon is selling a 'mobile' tiny home for just $9,350 – it's 'low maintenance' and can be easily relocated Lexie and Jed have made the interior of their home incredibly colourful, which they say makes you feel uplifted as soon as you enter the house. Their tiny home is situated on a friend's stunning farmland, so the couple have installed huge windows in the house, so that they can admire the views. The couple added that they feel the huge windows help to make the space seem bigger than it actually is. Lexie even works from home from the tiny cabin. Tiny Homes FAQs The tiny house movement began in the USA before gaining popularity in the UK. What is a tiny home? Tiny houses are small, fully-equipped living spaces designed to lead a more sustainable, off-grid lifestyle. Although they vary in size and shape, tiny homes tend to be between 15 and 50 square metres in capacity, made of sustainable materials and are easier — and cheaper — to maintain than traditional brick homes. Are tiny homes legal in the UK? As long as the tiny house doesn't exceed 19.8m x 6.7m in size, it is defined as a caravan in UK law. Therefore, tiny houses are classed as legal additional living space. Can you get a mortgage for a tiny home? The small size and relatively low cost of tiny houses means they're not generally considered eligible for a mortgage. However, there are plenty of options to take out a loan to fund your dreams of the perfect, moveable home. "There's nothing better when you're staring at a computer screen for a few hours than being able to look up and enjoy the view," she said. Although their home is small, the couple have been able to squeeze in a full size oven, a fridge and a hob. The couple love cooking, so this is the perfect set up for them, although they have had to get used to not having a dishwasher. "There's something weirdly satisfying about cleaning the dishes," Jed said. "There's so much satisfaction in being able to look at every nook and cranny of the house and think 'we did that'", Jed said. "It's really rewarding to be in the space."
