Guwahati: Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia on Thursday said the state and the country can never forget or allow the return of Congress's dark days.
Marking the 50th anniversary since the imposition of Emergency, the party felicitated several Loktantra Senanis (Soldiers of Democracy) who "suffered the brutalities of the Congress regime" during that period.
In a statement issued to the media on Thursday from the Assam state BJP headquarters, it was highlighted that 25 June 2025 marks the completion of 50 years since the imposition of Emergency by the Indira Gandhi-led Congress govt in 1975 — a day that marked the beginning of one of the darkest chapters in India's democratic history.
As part of the state BJP's three-day observance of "Constitution Murder Day," a special public exhibition depicting the horrors of the Emergency period under the Congress rule was inaugurated at the BJP headquarters.
The exhibition was formally opened at 12 noon on Thursday with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by former Assam BJP President and MLA, Siddhartha Bhattacharya.
Participating in the special programme, Assam BJP president and MP Dilip Saikia delivered a strong message, saying, "The dark days inflicted upon the nation by the
Congress party
can never be forgotten. We shall never allow such days to return in the future. The Congress and the Gandhi family trampled upon India's democratic values to cling to their political power."

"It is ironic and unfortunate that leaders like Rahul Gandhi theatrically pull out the Constitution from their pockets and pretend to be its saviour when, in truth, the Congress and the Gandhi family butchered the very soul of the Constitution by amending it 102 times out of the total 109 amendments," Saikia added.

Set up watchtowers, camps along Kanwar route: CM Yogi
1 2 Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath issued a slew of directions on Thursday in an effort to ensure that the Kanwar Yatra this year takes place without any incident or accident. In a review meeting with Ghaziabad police and administration during his day-long visit to the city, the CM said that special arrangements should be in place for devotees from Muradnagar to Tila Mod, from the Kadarpur border to the Ghaziabad-Delhi border, on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, and on NH-24 and NH-9. He said that the Kanwar routes must have watchtowers and Kanwar camps, and the roads must be repaired, with lighting, CCTVs, toilets, clean drinking water, and medical facilities provided. He also gave instructions for barricading at divider cuts, displaying rate lists at food stalls, closing meat and liquor shops on the Kanwar routes, and installing insulated plastic sheets up to 5 feet on electric poles as a safety measure. In addition to this, the CM said public address systems should be set up at key locations, while unmanned railway crossings should be managed properly. Community toilets and petrol pumps should be kept clean, regular checks of food items should be carried out, and separate facilities for male and female toilets should be arranged. To ensure cleanliness along the route, dustbins should be provided, sanitation workers deployed, and fire extinguishers, sand, and water should be available in Kanwar camps. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo Along with this, plastic-free and eco-friendly cups, glasses, and plates should be promoted. Special directives were given regarding the Hindon river rejuvenation plan. Under this plan, the CM discussed steps being taken to improve the river's water quality. Measures to prevent industrial pollution were also evaluated. The CM said that the Hindon rejuvenation should be prioritised under the Namami Gange project. Green row erupts as CM okwith SGNP tunnel night work
Mumbai: In a controversial move, work on the 11.8 km underground twin tunnels between Borivli and Thane is likely to be allowed at night. At a review meeting on the progress of the construction work on Thursday at Vidhan Bhavan, CM Devendra Fadnavis , saying that all infrastructure projects in the state must be completed within three years, directed that permission be taken from the forest dept to carry out work at night on the underground tunnels. Sources said a decision on allowing work at night in the national park will be taken by the chief wildlife warden within a fortnight. Additional land has also been sought on the Borivli end of the tunnel, said sources. Sumaira Abdulali, founder of NGO Awaaz Foundation, said that while noise pollution has become a problem in the city, so far the forest has been inviolate. "The CM calling for work to be allowed at night in the forest compounds the issue as it lays open the door to do such things in other national parks and sanctuaries. The underground is connected to the overground. The underground metro caused a lot of damage overground. The earthworm, which is found underground, is invaluable to the forest. My father-in-law, Humayun Abdulali, demarcated the boundaries of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, and taking away bits of the park nullifies these efforts. It is disrespectful to the legacy of the people who worked to preserve the forest, which gives so much benefit to the city. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cuối cùng, chơi miễn phí game chiến thuật hay nhất 2025! Whilst there seems to be no funds to subsidise BEST or green the coastal road, this govt has no shortage of funds to subsidise affluent car owners. There is no need at all for these tunnels through SGNP, let alone allow construction activities at night when entry into the national park is prohibited by law. " Fadnavis also instructed that additional land be made available from SGNP to maintain proper air circulation within the tunnel. Already, 88.75 acres have been diverted from the park for the tunnel, said sources.

Strict action against anyone disrupting Kanwar Yatra: Dy CM
1 2 Prayagraj: Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya on Thursday said the state govt would take strict legal action against anyone disrupting the faith and devotion of kanwariyas. "Kanwar Yatra is a symbol of faith, discipline and enthusiasm. Govt is making elaborate arrangements for the yatra across the state in the month of Shravan. However, mischievous elements should not be given any opportunity to spoil the environment," he said. Maurya was in city to participate in poet Bankim Chandra Chatterjee's birth anniversary celebrations. He said all religious events must be conducted with devotion, safety, and social harmony, and the administrative machinery must work with full sensitivity and alertness. He also lashed out at Samajwadi Party and said whenever land grabbing cases involving people associated with the SP are being investigated, they make baseless allegations. On the question of grabbing govt land by slain Atiq Ahmed's henchmen, the Deputy CM said whoever is involved in such misdeeds should immediately stop this or else the state govt will teach them a lesson. Speaking on Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, Maurya said: "His poem Vande Mataram is a great mantra that helped India break the shackles of British slavery and increased the honour of the Indian tricolour. Our freedom fighters embraced execution while singing this mantra." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo He said Chatterjee's pen did the work that even swords couldn't do. He also garlanded the pictures of Chatterjee and Bharat Mata. On the occasion, the district unit of BJP organised a mass singing of "Vande Mataram" at Amar Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Circuit House on Thursday. BJP's Prayagraj Mahanagar president Sanjay Gupta said: "Prayagraj is the only district where every year a collective Vande Mataram is sung on the birth anniversary of Bankim Chandra Chatterjee on June 26. This is a matter of pride. Vande Mataram is our consciousness and our strength."
