on Thursday said the state govt would take strict legal action against anyone disrupting the faith and devotion of kanwariyas.
"Kanwar Yatra is a symbol of faith, discipline and enthusiasm.
Govt is making elaborate arrangements for the yatra across the state in the month of Shravan. However, mischievous elements should not be given any opportunity to spoil the environment," he said.
Maurya was in city to participate in poet Bankim Chandra Chatterjee's birth anniversary celebrations.
He said all religious events must be conducted with devotion, safety, and social harmony, and the administrative machinery must work with full sensitivity and alertness. He also lashed out at
Samajwadi Party
and said whenever land grabbing cases involving people associated with the SP are being investigated, they make baseless allegations.
On the question of grabbing govt land by slain Atiq Ahmed's henchmen, the Deputy CM said whoever is involved in such misdeeds should immediately stop this or else the state govt will teach them a lesson.

Syed Moiz Abbas Shah was the one who claimed Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman's capture in 2019 after his jet was shot down in an aerial dogfight. The dogfight took place after India's Balakot air strike on February 26, 2019 in response to the Pulwama terror attack nearly a fortnight prior to that on February 14. "The entire nation stands united in grief and pride, saluting his ultimate sacrifice for the defence of the country. We owe an eternal debt to our martyrs. The blood of our Shuhada is the foundation of our nation's strength," Munir reportedly said, according to an Express Tribune report. Major Syed Moiz Abbas Shah was an officer of Pakistan Army's Special Services Group. He was commissioned into the Pakistani Army in 2011, and later became part of the Special Services Group (SSG). He was killed during a clash with Taliban militants in the Sararogha area of South Waziristan. In the same operation, 11 terrorists belonging to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed by the Pakistani Army. 'Major Syed Moiz Abbas fought bravely in the face of resistance and ultimately laid down his life in the line of duty, upholding the highest traditions of bravery, sacrifice, and patriotism,' the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement quoted Munir as saying. The Pak Army officer's funeral took place in his hometown at Chaklala Garrison in Rawalpindi. Abhinandan Varthaman's capture Indian Air Force pilot Abhinandan Varthaman was part of the Combat Air Patrol and was captured in 2019 after Pakistan's airstrikes in response to the Balakot Airstrike by India. The Balakot Airstrike was an Indian operation targeting a Jaish-e-Mohammad training camp in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Pakistan had deployed around 24 fighter jets to target Indian military installations, which led to a 10-minute aerial dogfight between the two countries on February 27, a day after the Balakot airstrike. Abhinandan Varthaman's jet was shot down in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, and he was held captive for about 60 hours and was returned to India on March 1, 2019. Just moments before his MiG-21 Bison was shot down and he was forced to eject, Abhinandan Vardhaman successfully shot down a Pakistani F-16 fighter jet.

CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: A mysterious gift deed transferring ownership of a three-acre parcel of land in Maharashtra, valued at around Rs 150 crore, from descendants of Hyderabad's famous Salar Jung family to Shiv Sena MP Sandipanrao Bhumre's driver has triggered more than just incredulous surprise at his sudden turn of fortune. The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Police is investigating how Jawed Rasul Shaikh, who has been driving around the MP and his MLA son Vilas Bhumre for 13 years, is linked to the estate of the erstwhile Diwan of Hyderabad, Salar Jung. Jawed told TOI that he was cooperating with the inquiry and had already submitted the details investigators had asked for. "I share good relations with the descendants of the Salar Jung family, so they gifted the land to me," he said. Police commissioner Pravin Pawar said Thursday that Jawed was summoned based on a complaint by a lawyer from Parbhani, flagging the "hibanama" (gift deed) in his name for what is regarded as "prime land" at Dawoodpura along Jalna Road in Sambhajinagar. "We will scan Jawed's income tax returns and details of any other source of income. Vilas, who represents Paithan constituency, protested against police allegedly dragging him and his father into the controversy over a land transfer deed in Jawed's name. "EOW officials questioned me, too. Although Jawed is our driver, we don't have control over everything he does. In any case, hibanama is a legally valid process of gifting assets," he said. Several members of the Salar Jung family served as prime ministers to the erstwhile Nizams of Hyderabad. The gift deed executed by Mazhar Ali and six others states that they received their share of three out of 12 acres belonging to the clan at Bagsherganj in Dawoodpura after a prolonged litigation lasting till Jan 30, 2023. Police have found out that the gift deed in favour of Jawed was executed around the same time. Lawyer Mujahid Khan, whose complaint led EOW to initiate the probe, said his curiosity was piqued by the fact that Jawed wasn't even remotely related to the Salar Jung clan. "Why would the descendants of Salar Jung from Hyderabad give a gift deed to a person working as a driver in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and that too after winning a legal battle for the same property. Also, a hibanama is legally valid only between blood relatives. The Salar Jung descendants and the driver are not only unrelated, they belong to two different sects of Islam." Repeated calls to numbers belonging to members of the Salar Jung family went unanswered.
