Eight of these—including Reliance Group,
, Mahindra Group, JK Cement, Jindal Group, Toyota India, Schneider Electric and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel—have submitted their preferred states and sectoral interests to the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. These partnerships will help set up 'hub and spoke ITIs' to offer industry-aligned skills training, ET reported citing people aware of the matter.
Under the hub-and-spoke model, designated ITIs will serve as central hubs for training and resources, while connected vocational institutes (spokes) will access advanced infrastructure and faculty support from the hub.
Besides the eight companies that have already submitted proposals, discussions are underway with Larsen & Toubro, Bajaj Auto, and the Aditya Birla Group, as well as major public sector units like Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders, and Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, according to ET.
The scheme, cleared by the Union Cabinet in May, aims to upgrade 1,000 ITIs and train two million youth over five years, focusing on sectors aligned with future industry demands. Funding for the initiative includes Rs 30,000 crore from the Centre, Rs 20,000 crore from states, and Rs 10,000 crore from industry. The central government's share will be co-financed 50:50 by the
and the Asian Development Bank.
Arunkumar Pillai, CEO of NAMTECH (New Age Makers' Institute of Technology), a training initiative by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, said: 'NAMTECH aims to train 500,000 youths by 2028.

We stand ready to partner with the government to scale this mission and create a globally competitive, future-ready workforce.'
An internal ministry presentation, reviewed by ET, showed that JK Cement has proposed to work in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh, offering skills training in construction, electrical and electronics, renewable energy, and hospitality.
Mahindra Group has shortlisted Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Goa, proposing training in automotive and hospitality.
Reliance Group has pitched for work in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh, covering sectors like renewables, retail, advanced manufacturing, and petrochemical engineering.
Jindal Group plans to impart training in both traditional and new-age trades in Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Jharkhand. Toyota India has proposed to upgrade ITIs in Karnataka for automobile-related trades, while Adani Group aims to upgrade institutes across Gujarat, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, and the Northeast for training in areas such as solar power, drones, and port operations.

ET Markets Watch: Sensex falls 572 points; 5 reasons behind Nifty crash

Transcript Hi, you're listening to ET Markets Radio, I am your host Neha Vashishth. Welcome to a fresh episode of ET Market Watch, where we bring you the latest news from the world of stock markets every single day. Let's get to it. Markets extended losses today as multiple headwinds weighed on investor sentiment. The Sensex dropped 572 points, closing at 80,891, and the Nifty fell 156 points, ending at 24,680. That's nearly ₹4.9 lakh crore in market cap wiped out in a single session. Here are 5 key reasons behind today's slide: 1. India–US Trade Talks Stalled Trade negotiations between India and the US have hit an impasse, mainly over tariffs on dairy and agricultural goods. While the US struck a framework agreement with the European Union over the weekend, India's deal still hangs in limbo. That's hurting investor confidence and raising concerns about India's global trade momentum. 2. Weak Q1 Earnings, Led by Kotak Bank Kotak Mahindra Bank plunged 7.3% today after posting a drop in quarterly profit. Gross NPAs rose to 1.48%, margins narrowed to 4.65%, and overall asset quality weakened. This adds to earlier disappointments from Axis Bank and points to rising pressure in the banking sector. 3. TCS Layoffs Spook IT Sector TCS shares dropped 1.6% after it announced layoffs of 12,000 employees, or 2% of its global workforce. This is not about AI replacing jobs, it's about weak demand and internal realignment. The Nifty IT index closed 0.7% lower, with Wipro, HCL Tech, and Infosys also in the red. IT continues to be 2025's worst-performing sector, down nearly 24% from peak. 4. FIIs Continue to Sell Foreign investors sold ₹1,979 crore worth of equities today, continuing their exit for the fifth straight session. Last week alone, they pulled out over ₹13,500 crore. DIIs tried to cushion the fall with ₹2,100 crore in purchases, but the pressure remains. 5. Technical Breakdown Technically, the Nifty slipped below key support at 24,700. It failed to hold above the 50-day EMA, while RSI signals remain negative. Analysts warn of further downside toward 24,550, unless the index breaks back above 24,800–24,950. So, a mix of weak earnings, global trade uncertainty, tech layoffs, FII selling, and technical pressure drove the market lower today. Will this downward trend continue, or can domestic flows and strong earnings from select banks provide support? We'll be tracking that closely, right here on ET Market Watch. Thanks for tuning in. This is Neha Vashishth, signing off for today.

India Records Over 65,000 Crore Digital Transactions Worth Rs 12,000 Lakh Crore From FY20 to FY25

New Delhi: Over 65,000 crore digital transactions have taken place in the last six financial years (FY20 to FY25), amounting to more than Rs 12,000 lakh crore, the Parliament was informed on Monday. The government has been closely working with different stakeholders including the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), fintechs, banks and state governments to increase the adoption rates of digital payments in the country including in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, said Pankaj Chaudhary, Minister of State for Finance, in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha. RBI has set up a Payments Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF) in 2021 to encourage the deployment of digital payments acceptance infrastructure in tier-3 to 6 cities, northeastern states and Jammu & Kashmir, the minister said. The minister said that as of May 31, 2025, around 4.77 crores digital touch points have been deployed through PIDF. The RBI has developed the Digital Payments Index (RBI-DPI) to measure the extent of digitisation of payments across the country. As a result, more people are able to access formal credit channels, which not only empowers economic participation but also brings more entities into the formal financial ecosystem. Digital platforms like UPI have enabled citizens, including small vendors and rural users, to accept digital payments, reducing cash dependency and increasing formal economic participation, the minister highlighted. As per the latest data, the RBI-DPI index stood at 465.33 for September 2024, reflecting continued growth in digital payment adoption, infrastructure, and performance across the country. In order to support small businesses and MSMEs in adopting digital payment systems to expand their customer base and improve efficiency, various initiatives have been taken by the government, RBI and National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) from time to time, the minister said. These include, among other things, the rationalisation of the Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) for Debit Card Transactions, the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) guidelines that enable MSMEs to receive competitive discounts on their invoices on the TReDS platform, and an incentive programme for small merchants to promote low-value BHIM-UPI transactions. The growing adoption of digital payments has revolutionised access to financial services, particularly for underserved and unserved communities. By enabling seamless, traceable transactions through platforms like UPI, digital payments have created a robust financial footprint for individuals and businesses, the minister stated.
