Police were notified on Monday about the fraud, which involved an online romance. The suspect began an online relationship with the victim and convinced them to send money for a flight home.
After the victim sent the money, the suspect asked for more. A relative of the victim urged them to call police.
Police are encouraging the public to remain vigilant when meeting people online.
